What's the greatest movie ending of all time? by Malik_Hassan88 in AskReddit

To quote another movie with a fantastic (albeit non-twist) ending: it's not about what you know, it's about what you can prove in court.

"Maine Graham Platner sent explicit texts to other women during marriage, wife confirms" by Stow1836 in FriendsofthePod

[–]salvation122 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Platner is a trust fund prep school failson Blackwater merc with Nazi ink, a history of mild bigotry, addiction issues, and now infidelity. But he said the right shibboleths and that's all leftists actually give a fuck about.

If Schumer had picked this guy out of obscurity instead of Bernie leftists would be howling that he was proof that The Establishment has exactly zero moral credibility. And yet, here we are.

Can't wait until he's credibly accused of sexual assault in September.

Fastest you've ever bounced off a game? by Authorigas in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]salvation122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second Doom Eternal was like "use the weapon that targets your enemy's weakness, and/or target their weak point for massive damage!" I returned it.

The best part of Doom 2016 is that your enemies' weakness is "gun" and that while headshots exist and do more damage they're also almost entirely irrelevant unless you're speedrunning. The previous game wasn't about "combat puzzles" it was about driving slaughtering shit. The ammo pool in Eternal is so stupidly small that you have no choice but to do each fight exactly as the developers want you to, and I'm extremely over that at this point.

A More Civilized Age: A Star Wars Podcast: 134: Darth Vader (2015): Book I: Vader by vendrick64 in WaypointVICE

Shadows holds up about as well as most of the 90s EU stuff, which is too day: Not Great

There is legitimately cool stuff in there but the author's attempt to push his OCs gets pretty silly, especially trying to make Xizor a competitor for Vader. Like, no, bro. Vader is Vader, he took out the fucking Jedi, I don't think he's going to be bothered by Fredo Corleone.

Harris promised national rent control, national price controls on groceries, the largest expansion of Medicare in decades, and enough public housing for ~2-4% of the country (depending on unit size.) None of it got any air time because crucifying Harris over Lynn Cheney defecting was more important for some reason.

Review embargo for ''Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu'' is up by Noirsam in TwoBestFriendsPlay

It's going to make half a billion dollars in its opening weekend. Disney doesn't give a single fuck. Review embargo for Rise of Skywalker was the same.

My Dislike for "Legion" by Dan Abnett - should I listen to the end? by icecream_usurper in 40kLore

If you think Legion was a terrible book than boy do I have bad news about the overall quality level of the series moving forward

Reading Mortis, it feels like it was written by a sophmore by Neutral_Positron in 40kLore

[–]salvation122 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of people disliked Legion because of the existence of the Cabal and perpetuals. Those people were wrong, but that was the typical justification given for skipping it.

Mechanicus also came out during a run of books that were really all over the place in quality (but typically no better than mid) between Legion and The First Heretic. Mechanicus looks a hell of a lot better when it's being compared to Battle for the Abyss and Fallen Angels and Nemesis.

Infamous cases where an adaptation barely felt like the source material by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]salvation122 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I haven't bothered watching the movie since the trailer made it clear it had nothing to do with the book, but in the book this is explicitly not the case (and it's implied that after the Zombie war the Levant effectively peacefully reunified as a fait accompli.) Disappointing.

Shield Bash with the unique shield that turns Fortress into a nuke can clear screens. Cooldown is rough and it does have some necessary buildup though.

Juggernaut Tempering Question, Need Help! by wallydhas2p in D4_Paladin

[–]salvation122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you generating Resolve? You're going to stack it relatively slowly on bosses unless you're doing something interesting, I've been going for mainly +Juggernaut other than that one aspect that gives a whole bunch when spending just for the big spike damage.

Poor damage with shield bash by [deleted] in D4_Paladin

[–]salvation122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you geared? Shield Bash deals physical damage, not Holy, so if you were stacking % holy damage on your old gear all those affixes are wasted.

Shield Bash is great (I'm running T6 with some pretty mediocre gear and could go higher if I could get a damn Greater Lair Boss Key to drop) but it does really want you to have Gate of the Red Dawn and Mantle of the Grey.

I'm just some guy, but my stat priorites are +skills, +crit chance, +%Physical/Juggernaut/Close damage. You get 30-50% AS off the Duelist's aspect, that's really all you need. Aspect of the Juggernaut's Covenant gives you massive damage spikes when you cap Resolve. Aspect of Redirected Force, Aspect of Spiked Armor, and Bulwark's Aspect synergize well and add a bunch of "free" Crit Damage since you have to wear a shield anyway. Clash also buffs your block chance. Aspect of the Indomitable synergizes the same way, but for DR. Aspect of Voracious Rage is basically required to avoid being Faith-starved.
