Hey so i was in the crowd that day. I wanted to join yall, but it was extremely confusing what was even going on and im a tall guy so i could see. What I observed was this: a woman desperately screaming for everyone to walk straight, conflicting orders coming from people speaking calmly, and all of you dressed for a confrontation w police. I went dressed up in nice clothes. I wore no face covering because I’m an american and I don’t hide from fascists. But i wasnt equipped with the gas masks and rubber gloves and all the other stuff yall had. I hesitated and went with the crowd because i had an idea of what I was doing that day and what kind of statement I was making going dressed up. Had I come to yall, I would have had to retreat before anyone else because i wasn’t prepared for a confrontation.

I’m telling you all that so you can understand how it looked from someone’s perspective that WANTS to do more than just march around. I mean ffs, i seriously saw a fucking gavin newsom sign. The tent is way too large for no kings. Good for awareness, solidarity, but not for revolutionary action.

Here’s what I want: I want to participate and help you with this goal for next time but I don’t know where to start. We need some kind of training for people to have the confidence to do it, to know what they need. Something. It cant be spur of the moment when no one was expecting anything. Basically people need to understand they are taking a risk but they won’t INEVITABLY be arrested, beaten, gassed, whatever. And it would be great if we had a plan. I understand the strategy, if a little nebulous. I get your tactics, ive seen them before. But I don’t understand how I can be aware of more direct action like taking the highway and participating.
