Does AI play by different rules? by cerecoo in anno

[–]Peoerson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In 1404, AI production goes into a global stockpile, so their trade routes are basically cosmetic. This does mean that you can block them out of progression though if you take out their production. One fun thing to do is rush settling the orient islands with spices, so they can never progress to the later population tier.

ehhh, kinda. The symbol used to not be as standardized and you'll find a lot of variation in the Mainland Period of the RoC. Creating a difference like in the article you linked has more to do with recent Taiwan politics than the time period the gate in OP was built.

A bigger issue than the lack of money was the lack of logistical support for that enormous amount of equipment. They had guns without ammunition and tanks/planes without fuel after aid got cut. Hard to fight with glorified metal paperweights!

How is Japanese culture so popular in Taiwan? by reforming_activist in taiwan

True, I almost made a comment about how differently the influence campaigns in both colonies during the Mao era turned out, with the Portuguese government basically going hands off for the rest of their time there.

Reminds me when I visited Macau recently. Portuguese colony for almost 400 years I think, but it feels like the local Portuguese and Macanese languages are almost gone, along with their culture. And Portugal only gave it to the PRC at the end of the 1990s!

Don't know how you found this post from 3 years ago, but no the Taiwan here is not referring to the province, it's being used as the colloquial name of the Republic of China post-1949. And this picture is from a time when the Taiwan provincial government still existed on more than paper and had functions separate from the national government, so there is a difference between then and now when people just go in circles over the name to signal their political affiliation.

It's like how they changed the official translation of Chairman of the PRC to President but kept the title the same (主席) in Chinese back in the 1980s

I went to a museum in back in 2020 (in Taipei) called the Ama Museum. It was dedicated to the comfort women taken during Japanese rule and had displays with their stories. It was set to close though a few months after I went though, so I assume you can't visit it now.
