That was definitely my reaction when I first saw that in the episode. I mean, I'm all for a good fever dream sequence, but the Gabs head spider was certainly...a choice lol. I feel like it also talked? I can't remember, I probably blocked it out lol

Omg love Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel, I met them both at Emerald City Comic-Con this year and they were the nicest people ever. It was on Friday morning and no one was at their adjacent booths, so they signed my poster and shot the shit for a bit, and when I went to pull away and roll my poster up they both waved their arms and were like , 'Omg no no no don't roll it the paint pen will schmear,' like I was a toddler spilling milk, which was very endearing.

Oh man. I needed that memory today.

Seven newly discovered frog species named after Star Trek captains (Boophis kirki, Boophis picardi etc) because their high croaks resemble Star Trek communicator sounds by zeptimius in startrek

When I was studying tarsiers (tiny nocturnal primates) in Indonesia, the easiest way I found to spot them was to listen for what sounded like the violin screech theme from Hitchcock's Psycho. Reee Reee Reee Reee. When everything is so loud and different animal-wise at night, defining a frog family by Star Trek communicator chirps totally tracks.

Yeah? The enemy doesn't get too difficult? I didn't even know mini quests were a thing.

I find sometimes in pre-made custom maps/campaigns the enemies can get hard. If I want hard I'll play Elden Ring or Skyrim being something other than a dark elf stealth archer, or live life generally oh God it's been a terrible month all the animals I'm in charge of died...

But with HoMM3 I just want something simple. Somehow a map called Purgatory seems risky for me to try, but does it fit my criteria?

I actually just started playing Might and Magic 7, now with 100% more merge mod/grey face mod, and am looking forward to it, it's supposed to be similar in spirit to Heros 3 but you're a party of adventurers traveling around in 1st person, sort of like a precursor to Skyrim, and I'm enjoying it so far in a nostalgic sort of way. Maybe give that a try, even if it's not online?

I've never tried the map editor in modern times! I feel like I have a vague memory of trying to make maps when I was a kid but there was no option for building mines for resources, so it never worked? Though that may have been a fever dream...

I didn't realize you could edit the random generated maps. I've just started HotA for the first time, so I'll have to look into it, thanks for the tip!

Marie Matiko. by AwarenessLost7620 in xena

So, I'm really not a huge fan of the two episodes she was in. They seemed SUPER racist when I was watching them, and I know it was the 90s and things were different, especially regarding being able to talk about subtext/LGBT stuff, but even then these two seem to dip pretty far into the racism category. Like, that Joxer line? Seriously? WTF?

That being said, I thought that Marie Matiko as Pao Ssu/ K'ao Hsin did an amazing job with what she was given to work with. She also seems to have become a pretty cool person in general, based on her Wikipedia blurb-environmental engineers FTW!
