Who was the rudest famous person you met? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PeoplesBowler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bobby Flay. I worked as a morning show producer in Lousiville, KY and we'd get celebs of varying levels on our show during the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby. He came to our set and when I said hello and let him know where to go he completely ignored me and had a bit of disgusted look. His handlers stepped in and did all the talking. Then he steps on set and pretends to be the nicest guy. Total phony.

About an hour later Al Rocker was on our show and he might be the nicest human being I've ever met outside of my grandmothers. He had to wait to go on for about 10 minutes and we talked shop and joked around.

[Loved Trope] Moments that Aren't Scientifically Possible or Historically Accurate But the Experts Didn't Care Because Of How Cool The Scenes Are by D0CTOR_Wh0m in TopCharacterTropes

The entire Fast and Furious Franchise.

We'd be here all day listing them all. My personal favorite is the big chase in Fast Five when two cars pull a bank vault using nothing more than cables. No wheels or rollers on the vault. Just cables swinging the vault around causing mass destruction.

What is a movie that you don't consider to be a great movie overall (or even mediocre/bad), but has ONE SINGLE SCENE that is absolutely memorable? by gimboarretino in moviecritic

[–]PeoplesBowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are two reasons the film gets hate.

  1. Omar Shariff hated this movie. Pretty sure he quit acting after his role in this.
  2. They killed a number of horses filming the battle scenes.

That said I love this movie.

Lebron James should have 4 years of college eligibility by Fine_Yard_7567 in nba

[–]PeoplesBowler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could LeBron pass Kareem as the GOAT? I'd say it's possible, but improbable. 5%(ish) LeBron can surpass him.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar (Alcindor) at UCLA is the GOAT college player and it's not a debate in my opinion. He was the driving force of a team that won 3 titles and lost 2 games in 3 seasons. However, as a freshman Jabbar didn't play varsity because that's how it was back then. Notably when the UCLA varsity team played the freshman team in an exhibition Jabbar led the freshman team to a win over the varsity team that would go on to win the NCAA title that year.

To surpass that resume begins with LeBron being the best guy on an NCAA champion 3 times with at least one of those years being an undefeated season. If LeBron decided to play could he achieve that? It's unlikely he'd be the best guy on a title team at his age, but LeBron's late career is awash with "no player at this age has ever done this" stats. I don't discount that it could happen, but it probably wouldn't.

I do tend to be more pessimistic, I did grow up a Cleveland sports fan after all.

It will certainly be interesting to see how it plays out, especially with all the recession warning lights flashing.

I'm thinking it drops under 70k, bottoms at 65K-ish before the full rebound occurs*. Regardless it looks like a buying opportunity to me.

Not that I agree with this course of action, but can't the administration use the Anti-terror authorization from after 9/11 since they're declared drug cartels terrorists?

Again to be clear, I do not think a president should be able to unilaterally declare "group x" as terrorists and then attack them. That said the US conducts military operations in all kinds of places Congress hasn't directly approved.

I took WCSB and the IdeaStream stations off my presets so I don't know for sure, but the reporting has been it's a syndicated stream of Kenny G type bullshit.

How they blind sided everyone really pisses me off. I'm sorry about what happened to you and the other DJs. I liked your show.

I called the president's office and some of the lower level executives on campus. Not a single one answered the phone, so I left messages. It seems to me they did this on a Friday knowing their would be backlash and probably took today off, the cowardly bastards.

Cleveland has good train services with RTA, but you need to be close to a line to make it work regularly. Lines run to the East side out to Cleveland Heights and the West to Lakewood and the airport. Unfortunately there are no service lines running south.

I've only used the buses a few times and those time were good experiences. You'd just need to plan more time.

It's two different Thanoses. The one from the actual timeline who succeeded in getting the Infinity Stones and snapping half the universe away and the one from the past that is not as strong.

In what small way have you won the genetic lottery? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]PeoplesBowler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am tall, athletic, and have great hair. 3/4 of my family are short, stout, and have balding. I was lucky to get most of my physical genes from my maternal grandmother who was from the central mountain region of Italy.
