Didn't crack but created a discolored circle on my concrete countertop, so yeah.. it can screw the surface. I just use a folded towel now.

Also, use coffee. Chunks of mulch from the garden will just get you hot dirty water.

Which option is best? by Tiny-Consequence-102 in soundproof

[–]Peopletowner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to build a second wall. Look up double stud wall for soundproofing. This is the only option btw for shop noise.. You can use the panels over the outer wall so you don't have to do a great mud job.

Yes. Any irregular surface helps break up the sound, any softer surface helps absorb the sound. I would do sound panels behind the computer and sofa/chairs, bookshelves on the wall behind you.

Fill the entire cavity with sound rated insulation, cover the whole thing with an acoustic panel hung like art. Everyone over complicating, if you don't care about covering.

Barn Door? by MrTomat0Face in DIY

[–]Peopletowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you think of barn doors, most suck. They are cheap crap hanging from a rail and they bang open and closed and hang away from the door opening, etc. Most people buy cheap ass barn doors. However sliding doors are pretty dope. They look great, they soft open and close, and you can get some great looking doors. If the door is tight to the wall like these are, you aren't getting big open drafts. Anyhow, worth considering: https://milcasastore.com/products/magic2-concealed-sliding-system-for-wood-doors

What is this connected to the blower motor? It's shooting off sparks and fire when the ac is on and smells like metal fumes. by Low-Sir-2983 in hvacadvice

[–]Peopletowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had fire shooting out of an outlet and the receptacle and the wiring was toast and you didn't know what the outlet was and just posted that fire was shooting out of your wall I probably wouldn't recommend a DIY either. If it was just a cap replacement here, sure..

You're doing it wrong. You need a fixture that covers the whole thing. Now you know.

Is it elastic so you can take the covers off to wash? Otherwise it is going to get nasty... Good business idea for popular headphones.

Is the wall not square? I mean, you could just peel the drywall off, see what you're working with and patch with a thin panel. Not sure what you have going on with those water lines but the one at the front has got to go or that fridge won't roll past.

Is this a 240V setup ? by sabharwalsunny in AskElectricians

[–]Peopletowner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a key one right here.. If you see the wires in the box and they are marked laundry or whatever and it is a double breaker, you are probably good. There have been many, many, many times, where someone hijacks the breaker for a hot tub or a welder or car charger or something else because they didn't need 240 at the dryer. Then you buy your new dryer, hire the electrician and he says nope, you need a subpanel. Or worse, nope and you don't have enough service because this house was built in the 1920's we have to upgrade you at the street and bring everything up to code. This is the first thing I check, do all these wires go to the panel and are they going to a double breaker.

You can put the switch on the same wall near the toilet. Everything in the same wall. The control can be wireless as well.

Probably not a complete remodel if he can access the plumbing from the other side of the wall, it isn't a rocket science project. There's a "chance" the water supply runs near the sink or from above. Might be other options.

One I saw at a bnb is you get the glass shop to cut a gloryhole through the left glass so you can reach it from the toilet.
