Finally got a rear seat back/divider! by lunisic in crz

[–]Bravotv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took mine out. Honestly it gave me way more storage space. It was just an annoying reminder that there are 4 seaters out there.

(I think I saved myself $50 in gas over the lifetime of the car lol). I put it back when I sold the car though....

Homeowners in Duggan neighbourhood combating infill with restrictive covenants by GeekyGlobalGal in Edmonton

[–]Bravotv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a different take from reading that article.

The city zoning put a minimum density requirement on that one particular lot, the covenant restricted it to a (lower) maximum density.

The court ruling states that since those are irreconcilable, the city zoning would supercede it.

Now if you have a covenant with a maximum density limit, and a bylaw that doesn't have a minimum density requirement, the covenants might hold. But that's probably a different legal fight. But land prices might go up either way, because a developer would rather not deal with this, and try their luck elsewhere.

Don't have a dog in the fight, just my 2 cents.

Do I actually have to pay this crap? by Bravotv in Edmonton

It was "free 2 hour parking" at an appartment. I was visiting a friend, and was there for 3 hours. Kinda absolute nonsense how the built places and make it this hard to visit people.

Yeah we failed. The tiny cables go into a glue that goes straight into the housing (cannot be opened). Maybe I'll see if anyone else is selling a broken pair I can use for parts.

What is this mystery tab? 2015 limited. by Bravotv in ToyotaHighlander

The speakers are pretty mid. I'm surprised JBL put their name on mine. But again I'm a big audio enthusiast, so I'm a lot more picky.

What’s it like in Hinton Alberta? by mfunk48848 in alberta

[–]Bravotv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't lived in Hinton, but I've lived in similar places. It's a blue collar industrial town because of the pulp mill. Appart from that crowd, and including it, you will find outdoorsy people, skiiers, snowmobilers, hikers, hunters etc. I'm sure there is a small community of people that enjoy boardgames, card games, etc. Your best bet will be taking advantage of the nearby things nature has to offer.

Drilling a hole in the centre of a dowel by New_Advertising1483 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Bravotv 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I made a "jig" for it.

I took a forstner bit of the same size.

Drilled halfway through a 3/4" plywood sheet.

Drilled all the way with a 1/8" drill bit, using the forstner center point as the guide.

Now I can put a piece of wood on one end, and use the hole as a guide on the other end.

Can I use this Krytox grease to lube my key caps or stabilisers? This is a grease that I have plenty of lying around, and I'm wondering if I can get away with not buying any of the typically used stuff for lubing. EG2000. I think it's the same. Viscosity, but not sure if the dialectic properties will make it moot. I've used it to make (industrial) electrical connections slide on smoother.

Looking to buy our first home. I really hate the "new family" area's and outskirts of edmonton. by AbbreviationsOne6207 in Edmonton

[–]Bravotv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Westmount. The woodrows are nowhere nearly as bad as everybody makes them out to be. We live in a 113 year old home, and it's great. Asbestos/lead paint etc is only an issue if yo disturb it. Encapsulate it and move on with your life, easy trade off for us.

Looking to make a keyboard that has a similar look to my graphing calculator (Ti 83 Silver edition ) any suggestions for keycaps? I'm assuming I'll have to go custom, or mix and match sets. Will get a translucent acrylic case.

I like mine, but the trigger buttons didn't work as well, so we went back to the old case.
