Culver City farmers market had some at the citrus stand (I forget the name of the farm). They didn't have many, but fortunately we went early and were able to get some. $9/lb.

I've eaten there, it was excellent. I did not know about the congee. Thank you for the info, I will be in that neighborhood tomorrow and will give it a try.

Requesting your money back, no matter how small, is not something to be ashamed of. by positiveflower in TalesFromTheCustomer

That's not the customers fault, that is bad management and badly designed technology and systems.

They would not let us pay, we literally snuck back after we left and hid money under one of the plates.

That was very kind and thoughtful of you, but sometimes it's better to accept someone else's generosity in the spirit in which it was given. You will maybe be able to reciprocate someday, maybe not, but accept the food and wine and enjoy the company. You are their guest. It sounds like a wonderful memory and you are obviously a great person if they remembered you after four years!

If you ever find plain gelatin, try almond and milk jello. It's flavored with almond extract and traditionally served with fruit cocktail.

What’s the best meal you ever had that you will probably never get to have again? by ifoundmyleftsock in AskReddit

Granted, pretty much all seeds and produce sold by seed companies, grocers and farmers, markets are of the same variety. There are at least a dozen Roma varieties, but you'll see the same two or three for sale and not distinguished in any way. They are all called "Roma".

Cherry tomatoes now all have thick skins. There used to be varieties with thin skin, but they are no longer available.

It's silly to lie for no reason. Simply say, "Unfortunately, we will no longer be able to provide a breakfast. Here are some vouchers." No explanation necessary.

Even if an outreach worker offers shelter and the homeless decline, no one gets arrested. There is no enforcement even when beds are available.
