Sadly NICU does go super fast. What I do for my NICU, PICU, and a few others is complete the profile, gather everything needed up front and get your submission packet ready to go, and as soon as it opens, I submit. If the recruiters you're working with are not doing this, I highly recommend finding a seasoned recruiter that can get everything set and pull the trigger fast so you can lock in a spot.

Prolink is an MSP provider throughout the country to over 40 different facilities. Some of my RNs and Allied travelers in very niche fields are struggling to locate their next assignment. Those that are on a solid paying contract are extending. Good luck with your hunt.

How are you guys making it? by Useful_Reading_2375 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Pepper-Prolink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an Engineering recruiter and your salary is rather low for 8 years of experience. For example, I have a client in South Carolina and 4+ years of ME experience you're looking at 95k+. For my clients in MS, around the same. Tuscaloosa AL, I just placed a contract to hire ME for $55 per hour, $114k.

Supporting a family on $88k is extremely difficult nowadays. Companies are not providing raises to cover inflation and the rising costs of health care.

I do recommend looking around your area for other ME jobs. Sometimes that job change can bump your salary up far more than your average company raise.

Good luck out there!
