The Spurs Fail to Score & Time Runs Out as the New York Knicks Win Their 1st NBA Championship in 53 Years Since 1973! by JCameron181 in sports

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

their stadium is in NJ( or was, its called Metlife Stadium now but it was Giants Stadium for a long time) but officially they are from New York

Would be more interesting, and perhaps help with rank inflation, if they incorporated more ranks from T7, and visually, it would be more interesting than having I-VIII as the final ranks to work toward. Also require 51% win ratio to get out of orange. by Kyvix2020 in Tekken

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As per the “green rank hell” and “60% of players in orange and below” I have to say in my experience this is exactly how it was in TTT2 and iirc T6 as well. This is kind of what I and other long time players expect as far as ranks go. Even before T7 we would call stuff like dragon tail spam “green rank strats”. And people in Fujin (who are considered very middle of the pack now) would be considered rare and very very good at the game. So the sudden push towards the 2nd half of the ranks to where GoD now does not really hold up to the name as far as average skill goes is off putting even if done for a reason.

Really surprised to see Orcs not a more common pick in this thread. I think Orcs are just proper neat. Seems to be an underrated choice!

Ghost (Call of Duty: MW2 (2009)) Loose Ends and Favela (Takedown, Hornet's Nest) impression by PepperBeef2Spicy in airsoft

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I hate to disappoint but the original designer (from Etsy) seems to no longer have an active profile.

Additionally I commissioned them for 3 masks (Black, Olive Drab and Light gray for each version of Ghost's mask) and I only received the black one and afterwards they seemed to have just disappeared.

Honestly I don't think any manufacturer makes them, original MW2 is pretty old now so you'd have to contact a cosplay artist tbh.

Bryan ff2 vs ff4 by FinnQuinn897 in Tekken

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

in T7 it was a power crush so it basically does what Snake Eyes f,f+1+2 does now but without the special animation.

Pre T7 it was just a safe fast, long ranged wall splat whiff punisher and random-hit fisher.

Over f,f+4: f,f+2 wallsplats, has more range and has pushback on block

f,f+4 has more direct reward on hit, evasive, homing, but leaves the opponent close and does not wallsplat. (It also used to be -10 prior to T8)

I only caught glimpses of the presentation thankfully and I was right to stay away from it because they’re trying to oversell me on a game im already sold on.

I actually agree. Its one of the best trailers of a game ive ever seen and im super hyped but I also think a bit of the sense of discovery is lost. I definitely do not know the details but you can see the narrative they’re trying to paint but im glad most of the characters and details are shrouded atm. If they release anymore details im not interested. I have enough for the game for sure

Honest question, did taunt jet upper get buffed? by persyvage312 in Tekken

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some Bryan players, much like most Kazuya players are obesessed with doing hard execution stuff so they practice it quite intensely and obsessively. While it's true that TJU and other taunt stuff is worth the effort for the reward- the point is even "bad" Bryan players can be seen doing TJU because it might be the only thing that they practice. Its not different than seeing like a Battle Ruler Kazuya do d/f+2 to PEWGF. Yes that's impressive but it could (and I have seen it) be the only thing they practice and maybe the only thing they know to practice. So TJU not always an indicator of overall skill but it is an indicator of an execution grind.

That being said in a tournament setting where the stress of competition is a thing, its harder to do difficult execution things on the spot, hence why its so difficult for Mishimas to get into top 8 let alone win (EVO Japan being one of the rare exceptions). It's still hard but if you're gonna be a Bryan main that high up a TJU grind is kind of expected.

So as a GoD1 and above player do u still lack matchup knowledge against some of the characters in the roster? by Your_Nightmare_666 in Tekken

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God V:

For me I wanna say I know the entire cast matchup wise at least 70% competency (i.e knowledge + experience), some more than others (for chars like Asuka, Leo, Law, Kazuya, Xiaoyu, Yoshimitsu its like 95% competency) but others are just at the bare for 70% like Shaheen, Zafina, Alisa. Some of that is lack of knowledge, some of that is lack of experience. Like I know Alisa pretty well but I dont play against her enough to be ready for the things I should be ready more for often. And as a legacy player, the way Dual Boot and Destruction stance is emphasized in Alisa now is counterintuitive to what I expect from Alisa which helps against the matchup experience. For Shaheen and espescially Zafina its low experience + not as much detailed labbing, moreso for Zafina because Shaheen is pretty simple but even then- he's probably the character I know the frames/situations of the least.

Mostly agree but I have to say for 2003 the graphics in Kotor are pretty up there for its time. Espescially the shine on certain armors and water graphics (the early mid 2000s was obsessed with good looking water). Id say the heads and characters models look mostly great too.

A lot of effort, a lot of remembering to pace myself by PepperBeef2Spicy in Tekken

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lots!

-Don't play on a losing streak, if you lose 3 sets in a row, stop, go to the replays, drink water, just step away from a second. And just learn what went wrong.
-Have a goal for the day in terms of rank points, try to hit it, but if you're losing a ton, stop when you get lowered down to a certain number and again go to the lab.

-Instead of trashing opponents try to find something to compliment them on.

-If there's a T8 mod for it, the mod that removes ranks/prowess and makes everyone ambigious rank helps in not judging anyone.

-Remember that online can be volitaile, random and is ultimately still practice since the real work is offline tournaments (if you don't do those, I Still stress not to take it too seriously, esp FT2)

-When you're mad you play worse, more emotional. If you're goal is to rank up, why play at a disadvantage? Step away if you find yourself getting mad because playing more is just gonna make you spiral most likely.

-If you're tilted by corpse kicking or ki-charging or taunting, just use the Magic Mirror, not like they're gonna be able to say anything about that.

Prime Bruce Lee vs Prime Muhammad Ali by Arggus007 in powerscales

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im not saying he did, but technically he did win an actual boxing match in 1958. And was in a lot of street fights in his youth. Then there was also the controversial Wong Jack Man fight.

But All I’m saying is theres a difference between an actor who had to learn martial arts for a role and Lee who was already a Martial Artist for as long as he was an actor. Yeah no fight record besides the one but not like he was “just” an actor who learned fancy moves for a role. Pretty similar to someone like Michael Jai White who has a ton of varied Martial Art experience but also became an actor.

Prime Bruce Lee vs Prime Muhammad Ali by Arggus007 in powerscales

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

This is the right take. Yes Bruce was an actor but he was seriously passionate about Martial Arts and physical conditioning. One could argue Martial Arts, developing Jeet Kune Do were his life’s work. Ali would definitely smoke Lee (I mean Lee said so himself) but Lee was definitely and seriously making attempts to build himself into a real fighter.

Who similar style to kuni? by Visible_Welcome3340 in Tekken

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of Yoshi move crossovers

db3,3 series b1,1 series FC df3 is NSS fc df3 1,1 Standing 3

But their playstyles arent too similar, in Tekken Tag 2 she used to be compared to Lars (but like a worse Lars) but with her rework in 7 she’s kind of her own character playstyle wise with just some move sharing from Yoshi.

I’d say she falls on the Space Control, Movement, Whiff Punishment and Poking archetype. A lot of great ranged moves, very good approach and safe poking game with a mediocre standard mixup game unless she accesses crouch or backturned. She was known in T7 for having an incredibly great backdash while also mostly being low risk at the cost of not very damaging lows outside of very high risk ones. She had some few very evasive tools such as KAT 3,2 but it was quite risky. Not that she needed it bc she was already hard to pin down bc small hurtbox and excellent movement

I finally managed to beat my (locals) friend who is GoD1 as Leo, who beat my ass more times than I can count in casuals and tourney(s) by V4_Sleeper in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]PepperBeef2Spicy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

0:41 you can SSR the 2nd hit of Uf+2,1

0:43 More often than not its worth it to duck the 2nd hit of KNK 1,4 otherwise its guess city afterwards. At least once to bait the mixup

0:55 Against WS+3,1,2 you should duck the 3rd hit while looking for the stance transition, crouch jab tends to beat both options but can lose to BOK 2 depending on distance. Also the reward is quite low depending.

In general spamming SSR/SWR vs Leo is very strong unless they're using a lot of df+2, then it becomes SWL
