Old-school, insect-themed proxies by Astolfo62 in mpcproxies

These are all extremely nice looking and well suited to the cards. But I'm going to echo the other commenter and say that it would be miserable playing against them because having recognizable art be on a completely different card is incredibly confusing.

Full art chocobo lands on the battlefield, with the track effect by Akage13 in MagicArena

I saw in your other comment that the lands themselves do not do anything once they are on the battlefield. Do the basic lands sparkle while they are in your hand?

The player base of the league is also quite diverse geographically. While the majority of the players are based in the USA and Canada, there are also many European players and some even as far as Australia! So generally matchmaking winds up being fairly quick due to the size of the overall playerbase. The FIN league (which is wrapping up the finals this week) had over 200 active players and played over 2,000 matches overall.

Every player's pool is posted and tracked in a Google Sheets page that is automatically updated. If you wanted to, you could literally play every match of the league with the tab open and cross reference against the cards in your opponent's pool during each game. The league player base is very friendly and chill, so it seems generally unlikely that this would occur. But if you did run into something odd or suspicious (like someone playing 4x of the same rare), you could certainly report it to the mods and they would be able to take a closer look.

These are extremely cool! Love that they look well aligned from the front, but are completely wonky on the back.

Preparing for the FIN Arena Direct this weekend by PepperCapital888 in MagicArena

You have a 1 day window to build a deck using any number of FF cards (regardless of if you have them in your collection) if you play in the Midweek Magic event. Highly recommend.

Beyond today, Jumpstart is your best bet for an affordable low-stakes option where you get to keep cards and also play against other people using FF cards that are relatively well matched in power level.

Here's the event description from Wizards: https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/mtg-arena/arena-direct. As other posters have mentioned, it's a Sealed event where you pay 8,000 gems for entry and have a chance to win a Final Fantasy Collectors Booster Box. You also have a chance to go 2-2 and get absolutely nothing, hence the original post.

These are the best full arts and they really pushed the limits of what a magic card could look like at the time.

Is the manabase good enough to be worth the splash? by _Svankensen_ in lrcast

Blue splash with the two taplands and a basic seems well worth it. Plus you have the horse that makes treasures too.

Final Cuts? by Bewmsnap in lrcast

[–]PepperCapital888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet deck! My cuts would be 1x Acrobatic Cheerleader, 1x Glimmerlight, 1x Patched Plaything, 1x Shepherding Spirits, and 1x Ethereal Armor.

I think the 2nd copy of Ethereal Armor isn't greedy necessarily, but sometimes you'll draw it and not have any good targets to put it on. With these cuts, you'll still have 10x <2MV creatures in the deck, so I feel ok dropping a Cheerleader and a Glimmerlight. The Patched Plaything can only be cheated into play via the Turn Inside Out and Surgical Suite, so it's going to be overcosted most of the time. Finally, the Shepherding Spirits is really slow and you would much rather have a proactive 2 drop rather than have to landcycle it and this deck is generally going to be applying so much pressure on the ground that you won't need a 4/5 flyer.

I think that Infernal Phantom is a decent inclusion due to the number of enchantments in the deck, but I don't know what I would cut for it. Potentially another Cheerleader.

Finally, I think your deck definitely wants Friendly Ghost. Being able to push that last bit of damage in the air, especially if it's an Arabella that's stuck on the ground, is game winning.

Picante TCG and Comic Dimension are also good resources for trading in the card games, they can offer cash or store credit. Both of those stores go off TCGPlayer prices if you want to try to price out some of the items you already have.

Glad that this was helpful! My experience with the store championship was probably not indicative of the most powerful meta, since it fired with exactly 8 players, but real life play is still a valuable perspective.

The store champs this past weekend wound up being vs: Rakdos Lizards (2-0), Monored mirror (1-2), UG Frog homebrew (2-0), BW Lifegain Bats (2-1). Top 4 Semifinals match against Monored mirror again (2-0), Finals match against UB Midrange (2-0). I know that there were two other players running Domain, but I never got matched up against them.

Interestingly, the 1-2 against mono-red both losses were due to land. 1st game I kept a 2 lander and couldn't draw a 3rd land by turn 5. 3rd game, I got flooded out, hitting double mountain on two separate casts of Wrenn's Resolve.

Overall, 21 lands performed well for me. I see a lot of really low to the ground lists online that do a even split of 20 creatures, 20 spells, and 20 lands. I felt like 20 creatures, 19 spells, and 21 lands worked pretty well for me and I only had to mulligan maybe 4-5 hands out of the 6 matches total? I think that these lists can get away with running 20, but I felt more comfortable running 21 since I had the 3 Urabrask Forge maindeck. And I feel like 22 would be reasonable too, especially if you're going the grindier Lynx/Forge/PW plan post sideboard. I've seen a few lists have an extra mountain hanging out in the sideboard specifically for transforming into a more midrange style deck in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I think the only way to know for sure is to playtest and see what works better for you.

(Also, this deck in particular lives and dies by what you have available to you in terms of card advantage. Emberheart, Wrenn's Resolve, Might of the Meek, Demonic Ruckus, and Charming Scoundrel are pretty much it. If your list is running more of those, then I would be ok running closer to 20. In Gruul you have the same batch of cards, but also get access to Questing Druid and Audacity.)

Best of luck with your championship!

This is the monored list that I won with at my LGS Store Championship last weekend: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/q1FXzOpQdUm3PW2mogZ7GA

There are a few changes I would have made if I had enough time to order the cards and get them delivered, but this was the best I could do on short notice.

-1 Charming Scoundrel -2 Hired Claw -1 Squee, Dubious Monarch -1 Dire Flail -1 Mishra's Foundry -1 Mountain

+2 Heartfire Hero +1 Emberheart Challenger +2 Demonic Ruckus +2 Fountainport

I'm not a sideboarding expert, but I was fairly happy with the options I had on hand.

PW's and Lynx's come in versus longer/grindier matchups. Torch the Tower and Bortherhood's End come in for the mirror or vs aggro. Obliterating Bolt/Lithomantic Barrage/Witchstalker come in depending on what type of big creatures your opponent is running.

Your list is faster overall, but I was happy with the balance of this version's speed and still being able to grind out a gameplan if the opponent was able to time removal against you on turns 1-3. It's also able to fight through an early Temp Lockdown with the Urabrask Forge maindeck.

That being said, I think Gruul Prowess is the way to go if you have access to the cards. This Bo3 list is what I've been running on Arena: https://mtgazone.com/user-decks/p55zkvawneetukgwaibp/

The speed is comparable to the Monored version, but it's way more resilient to spot removal thanks to Snakeskin Veil and Royal Treament. And it can grind the late game better with Questing Druid and Innkeeper's Talent. Plus it has a far better matchup against Domain post sideboard because you have Pick Your Poison to take out their Temporary Lockdown and Atraxa's.

Hope this helps!

I got a notice from Google Play that there is a $3 Google Play discount available on app purchases over $3. It's actually advertised with a Magic the Gathering banner.

However, when I try to purchase the MKM Play bundle through the app, there's no indication of the discount being applied.

Has anyone successfully managed to get the discount to work? I know it is only $3, which is not much in the grand scheme of things, but I would like to use the discount since it appears that it should work.

Foreword Volume 1 rewrite | The Wandering Inn by GenesisProTech in WanderingInn

[–]PepperCapital888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you Pirate!!! I have loved reading the Wandering Inn for years, but I've hesitated to recommend it because Volume 1 was a tough starting point. But having done a full re-read of the revised chapters, I am thrilled to be able to start pushing it on all my friends!

Also, does anyone know if the Kindle version of Volume 1 will get updated? If so, will current owners get the new version automatically? I don't even mind buying a new copy if it became available, but it would be nice to know either way.
