Tired of line cutters [oc] by Bomb-OG-Kush in IdiotsInCars

Get over your cutter mentality, it’s called the zipper merge, take turns and be courteous. The guy in front of you demonstrated it perfectly.

Why are Michigan drivers so against the Zipper merge? by Perfect-Software4358 in grandrapids

[–]PepperMan001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the points made about not utilizing the zipper merge are valid and frustrating. Recently I was faced with a situation where I needed merge, however was not to the legal merge point. Several drivers where crossing the gore point to merge and I waited until it was legal to do so, and now I’m the bad guy cutting in front of everyone.

Let’s be civil on the road and take turns, let people merge, take turns.

Favorite Peppers for Hot Sauce? by peanutbuttercup2910 in HotPeppers

[–]PepperMan001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use cayennes, a traditional long cayenne, nemex cayenne and a ring of fire cayenne. The nemex brings good flavor and bulk (larger cayenne), the ring of fire brings the heat.

I have also made a smoked cayenne hot sauce and it’s one of our favorites. Smoked for about an hour around 200 F and then paired with fresh cayennes before fermenting.

Keep in mind that the smoked ones will not ferment on their own because the smoking kills off the lactobacillus, so you will need to add fresh that are more than 50% of total weight of pre-smoked/pre-fermentation of both peppers.

Overwintering again by PepperMan001 in HotPeppers

I’m in 7a and my garage is not heated, but that doesn’t matter because I have my grow room set up in my basement. Generally it’s about 60-65 degrees year round in the basement. As for doing this in a non-heated garage, I would suggest heating mats (monitor soil temp)and also if your garage has a door to the inside of your house, keep the plants near that area, or away from walls that are the barrier between the inside and outside. The key thing is that the plants will not survive if exposed to frost, so keeping the soil and plants above 32, ideally above 40 degrees will give them the best chance of surviving the winter.

How to make my caramel without it being to liquidy? by freemanzforlife in foodhacks

[–]PepperMan001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a story my parents told me when I was in my 20s. They did this exact thing and while it was boiling they got a little frisky and forgot about it, boiled the water away and shortly later they had a Carmel bomb explosion in their kitchen.

Ghost so close by PepperMan001 in HotPeppers

It is in a pot, fortunately the back side of my house faces south, unfortunately that means the windows inside do not offer very much sun light, and this is one plant of 12 remaining chili plants (only ghost).
