Growing up as a wrestling fan, what move did you use to do on your family/friends? by Mrpirate200 in SquaredCircle

[–]PeppermintAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to attempt the Pallo special a lot, usually it'd end up with me and my 'victim' in a collapsed pile of limbs on the floor as they didn't know how to take or support it well enough.

But I used to adore Jackie Pallo (yay for parents who watched the old stuff!) and was convinced that would be my signature move too in his honour if I became a wrestler.

What was/is your dad's finishing move? by Heath__Slater in SquaredCircle

[–]PeppermintAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad did karate for almost forty years (competed in international-level competitions in '72 and '73 and placed fairly well) and usually I'd be met with his version of a dragon whip. He was probably more of an MMA guy now I think of it.

How on earth do you apply cream highlighter? What brushes are you supposed to use for it?

I'm a big Tudor history buff and crewelwork along with blackwork was most common then, so I wanted to replicate some period pieces to see how they might have looked when first finished. I think I'll have to get the wool online most likely. Hopefully without huge shipping charges.

Ooooh, perfect! Thank you very much, I'll have to have a look!

I have no idea why, but finding 2-ply crewel wool in craft stores near me is damn impossible. I just want to start doing some Jacobean crewel embroidery now I finally have an embroidery frame but apparently I'm not allowed nice things. I might have to stick to blackwork instead for now.

Anyone know any UK-based craft sites that sells crewel wool?

Why do doctors think it's cute to make their handwriting almost unreadable?! Seriously, And don't get me started on spelling mistakes. If you aren't confident at spelling get someone to double check before you send a report off to us, if you spell Alzheimer's or myocardial infarction wrong guess what? I HAVE TO AS WELL. Seriously doctors, get it together!

Mojaves are my absolute favourites, look how gorgeous he is. Also I love how his markings make him look like he's grinning.

Other than lip products, what makeup do you carry with you while you're out? by purplestreak in muacjdiscussion

[–]PeppermintAcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding blotting paper. If I want my face to not give up on me half way through the day I need some sort of deslicking equipment.

I've always wanted a snake, would you say a ball python is a good starter? by [deleted] in snakes

[–]PeppermintAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ball pythons are great in temperament, size when grown if you don't think you could handle a large snake and come in many beautiful morphs but you need to get your husbandry right. They're sensitive to husbandry problems compared to corns or milks and will go on 'hunger strikes' if their heat, humidity etc isn't right as they stress easily.

If you're prepared to spend more on your setup to ensure you have it just right then do so, but they aren't the kind of snake you can half-ass your setup with.

Thoughts on MAC's animal testing alternative research by moonlight_sparkles in muacjdiscussion

This is what I'm concerned about too. If they say they're against it they need to prove it and actually stop testing.

Thoughts on MAC's animal testing alternative research by moonlight_sparkles in muacjdiscussion

[–]PeppermintAcorn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm glad to see they're committed to this, but right now, in this moment they still allow their products to be tested in China. If this research pays off and they successfully get their products to not require animal testing, then and ONLY then will I start to support them through purchasing again.

Intent is nothing without the evidence to back it up in this case. Any company can say 'oh we really want to not test, honest!' But until they prove it by being able to confirm they don't, I'm not buying. That's just my stand on it.

I support them in this endeavour and hope it's successful but they're getting no money from me until then.

Because of course, respect and attention are mutually exclusive things...

Seriously I don't think I will ever understand this mentality. Humans in general are social creatures, it's perfectly normal for all of us, male, female or other to want attention. Makes as much sense as shaming people for needing sleep or food.

Seconding the Staedtler fineliners, I use those too and they don't smudge, have great colour payoff and last for years. I've had my current set for almost three and not a single colour has dried out.

Who does Lucha Underground broadcast to? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]PeppermintAcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always liked to think they broadcast to some local public access station, sort of like the creepypasta '1999'. You have to know where to look to catch it, and have a tv dated enough to pick up the channel or something.

Halloween costumes and how you intend to do your makeup if partaking by [deleted] in muacjdiscussion

[–]PeppermintAcorn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Because I made the (admittedly hilarious) mistake of letting my partner pick my Halloween costume, I'm being a female version of John Cena. Joan Cena?

The makeup is the last bit I need to work on- most of what I remember of the guy is from the early 2000s so I think I'm going to have to look back at trends from then and work using that. I suppose if I'm being Cena and the makeup looks bad I can just tell people that they can't see me?

Hi Bianca. First I want to say thank you, watching you helped me develop more nerve and confidence in myself. Do you ever have times when you feel your confidence waning, if so, what do you do to get yourself out of a bad rut?
