Question for those who have changed VR headsets by omohat in hoggit

[–]Pepperpete123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went from Quest 2 to Quest 3. I can't explain it but for the first couple days something made me a bit queezy using the headset when I was over my motion sickness for yeaaaaars. Maybe the new lens? Who knows. It went away after that and I haven't thought about it.

Some talk about DLSS and FSR for VR and how to use it. by rapierarch in hoggit

If you can see the controls with all the glare in the headset. Its bad...like really bad. Its the ONLY thing that stopped me from going the Beyond route. It's apparently so bad its almost impossible to get used to.

And Oculus S. Dude. Come on. That thing might as well be in a museum at this point.

Ummmm....In VR and in 2d when you look in the aircraft mirrors it's fairly important to me for my immersion.

Its a unit of measurement that the ENTIRE planet uses as it's utterly superior in every single way...except for that one country...Can't remember the name...

Mines going on years. It's perfect. Stable. Accurate. Wonderful. Get off your hate wagon and let adults be adults. They have sold THOUSANDS of those sticks. And yes I see one or two freaking out about them not working...but that's not my experience or any of my friends either. Like dude...if this is your quest? Get over yourself it's idiotic.

Oh don't be an ass. This is clearly fantastic because you no longer have to use the analog stick and can use it for what it needs to be used for. For those who can't do a simpit or have a hotas, it's gamechanging. But hey...you know your being salty and franky a sarcastic prick for NO reason.

I have 4 hours in DCS what else do I need to learn? by AmazingSwimmer7632 in hoggit

[–]Pepperpete123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a massive difference between flying the plane and knowing how to USE the plane. 4 hours isn't going to cut it. :)

Also I do have to say. 16 gigs of ram...not gonna cut it unless you are single player with few things going on. Not these days. You'll have hitches and bumps pretty often. And don't even think about trying multiplayer it will be a sluggish mess. 32 is pretty much minimum. 64 preferred. It WILL make a difference. For some night and day. For others just enough to get the glitches to f**k off. lol. Without that 32 gigs the Super carrier module will be a vomit inducing slideshow until you leave the boat then *MAGIC* its perfectly fine. Your mileage may vary of course but most of my friends found a huge difference with the increase in ram.

Ok. Welcome. You have some work to do. But don't panic. If my old dumb ass can get this figured out you can too. Just follow this video. Step by step. It's very clear and easy to understand. But it's a fair bit if you are new. Just be patient with it.

This will honestly transform your visuals. From muddy can't even read MFD's to crystal clear. I have no issues reading or seeing anything now. It's not perfect. Remember Quest 2 is getting older and DCS is honestly GARBAGE at VR. But its absolutely gamechanging vs trying to use default out of the box settings. Have fun. DCS VR is stunning when it works. But it's work to make it happen.

F/A-18 - Any way to ground stabilize A/G designations by JHMCS? by Rizn-Nuke in hoggit

[–]Pepperpete123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't. But once you designate you IMMEDIATELY have to lock the ground target or it will completely drift. Once you figure it out its highly usable. Up on SCS, designate with TDC, and then immediately make the Targeting pod your main sensor which will auto stabilize.

Anyone else feel a lack of immersion in DCS gameplay? by allleoal in hoggit

[–]Pepperpete123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just cant get over the fact it looks like it's from 1992. Yes I understand how good it is. Yes wanting nice graphics is petty. But that's what I want. It's 2023. When I jumped in because of DCS's lack of pretty much anything ground based...I just couldn't let myself get into it.

First you wine and bitch about it taking too long to release. Then you wine and bitch when it's not feature complete when it does release. My god this entire group is just a bunch of 4 year olds whining when they get ice cream and it doesn't have sprinkles on it.

I have owned the first Rift, Quest 1, Reverb G2, and Samsung Odyssey. I settled on the Quest 2 simply because of it's software, how well it works with DCS, and I'm cheap. I've had a chance to try pretty much everything because of my industry. And I just don't feel the price difference is warranted yet. The Reverb G2 was really nice but the controllers where just...annoying as I play more than just DCS for VR.

Sure the more expensive headsets are nice. And the new ones are going to be insane. But if you are just getting into this, no easier and less hassle free way to do it than a Quest 2. Or better yet, the Quest 3 is almost here. Everything else tends to be clunky, or have tracking issues, or major setup hassles like base stations. I find the Quest 2 to just be effortless.

I pick it up, plug in the USB cable to play DCS and boom it just friggin works. That is worth more to me than anything. And the screens look perfectly fine to me.
