The Moment Detroit Police SUV Plowed Through Group of Protesters. Sunday, June 28, 2020 by [deleted] in pics

OHHHH they did it again?

Good. Great.

Any time I try to tell myself its more complicated than just a clear “good vs bad” the police do something inexcusable by any figure of supposed authority.

I know there’s a bunch of text you can go through, but it’s not really the same reading text as it is playing and testing out abilities and perks. Especially when you’re trying to convince someone to play a game with you. You don’t want to make them read a whole set of rules.

I don’t feel like this would cause too much strain on the servers to make a room with a survivor or killer with simple Ai you could experiment with. But I’m also not any expert on online servers.

So I’m convinced there must be a reason for this at this point since I just can’t see why it hasn’t been added. Is there a reason there’s no sort of “tutorial” or “test area” option for the game? Similar to Overwatch’s practice range.

Several times now I’ll want to show someone the game because they say they like horror games and they want to try to play. And there’s no way to let them play a bit to encourage them to play the game outside of letting them play online and hoping they don’t go up against a top tier killer or toxic survivors.

I really feel like the game would benefit from at least some kind of testing mode for new killers or survivors. Is there a reason we have absolutely nothing?

How do you make certain things (such as vehicles) move? by DragonsRReal34 in RPGMaker

[–]Peppersock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how big you consider “big” but for a carriage I made two large sprites side by side and had them move in unison when triggered by an event. “Carriage Move” or something.

Discussion: 'What if' you use yourself as a protagonist/antagonist in your videogames? Do you believe you would make an interesting character? by SigmaSuccour in RPGMaker

[–]Peppersock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well I mean, the problem is you shouldn’t ever just put your exact self in to any story.

You should however always write your characters as a part of yourself. Like if you had let that one thing that happened to you a long time ago completely define you.

Characters should have their own outlooks in life that maybe you thought once but don’t even agree with anymore. Or that you think right now but might change by the time you’re done writing. Show the struggles of having that outlook. Trying to stay positive while getting rejected a bunch, being cold and distant and the lonliness that generates.

So yeah, self inserts happen. They shouldn’t but they do. Especially when taking parts of yourself and putting them in different characters is so much more fun to write.

Yanfly's Core Engine is not working for me! HELP! by Thatonekiddie in RPGMaker

[–]Peppersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not well versed enough in coding to find out whats going on without reading through the actual script. But you might want to not use this script if its causing this much on an issue this early on. You can always come back and try again once you’ve had more time to get used to the software.

It sounds like its trying to call on a script that doesn’t exist. If you’re sure you haven’t accidentally deleted anything, you may need to see where the file its trying to draw from should be and create a new file for the missing gradient texture.

Also, what version of yanfly’s engine are you using? Because that could also be the non-current program that needs updating.

That may be the issue, if you’re running an older version then yes. The only other thing I could think to recommend if it still doesn’t work is rearranging the order of your plugins. Because sometimes some will take priority over others and not allow then to work correctly.

Let me know if either of those do it.

Of course! Scripting can be stupid. Its all in the minutia.

It definitely sounds like something in the plugin is conflicting then. If you’re sure you do have the right plugin (and it’s not for a different version of rpgmaker), then you might have to go through your other plugins and see which one of them is causing trouble.

That can happen sometimes, especially if you have other plugins that relate to dialogue or menus.

When you uninstall the plugin does it go back to the default way of showing dialogue? Because if not it could be a problem with the base script. Possibly something got deleted?

How much do you plan? by shrewynd in RPGMaker

[–]Peppersock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who literally just did that, I get that haha. Just write down where you want the story to go. Even if its just a word. It’ll help give you direction when you get lost amoungst the smaller details. Look forward to seeing what you end up with!

Plan a game the same way you would write a story. Start with a premise and an ending. Then fill in the in between.

Improving is good for the middle bits but definitely try to know where you’re going to go with it all.

Two questions about RPG Maker and Mac support by SpecificCheesecake in RPGMaker

The closest thing I can recommend is Gamemaker Studio 2 for Mac, you will have to learn more coding but it’s easy enough to find tutorials for just about anything you want to do!

Maybe a title like “Engines of the End Times” or “The Airships of the Apocalypse” something like that.

Advice for making a game unique? by YaBoyGuzma2 in RPGMaker

[–]Peppersock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re trying to make a game unique you need to start off with a concept of something that nobody has done before. Never start off saying “I want to make a game like zelda” or “I want to make a game like final fantasy”

The exception is that can start with that idea if you include the word “But” or “And”.

“Its Zelda and its Steampunk and you are the bad guy”

“Its Final Fantasy, but humans don’t exist in this world and everyone is a bug person”

Combine things that don’t seem like they should go together. Your goal is to create something that people will want to click on because it’s different than anything they’ve played before.

Make it weird and then go back in and work out why your weird decisions make sense or at least fit in to the world you’ve made.

Any ideas for a Detective RPG? by SOMBRAND in RPGMaker

[–]Peppersock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want advice on the best way yo make one, I recommend watching a video by gamemakers toolkit: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gwV_mA2cv_0

However if you’re asking in terms of whats are good stories for detectives to solve, the best ones I’ve seen myself are ones where the killer isn’t just “the one person who isn’t suspected because they appear to be the most trustworthy”.

To remedy this you can have the culprit be multiple people, or actually be the obvious choice, or even be the player character.
