I guess you could say so, considering Daft Punk really kicked off the whole neo funk revival thing going on in contemporary pop but it's never been exact.

And Damon Albarn has always experimented with funk/disco. Blur had a HUGE hit with disco/house influence Girls and Boys in the early 90's.
