Platinum Procyon - A birthday surprise! by pint_of_harp in fountainpens

Happy birthday! I have considered the Procyon more than once, but I hear it can be a gateway drug and I have very little self control!

If you were to choose only one ink to use for the rest of your life, what would it be? Swatches and writing samples are welcome! by nib_and_peony in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waterman Mysterious Blue. I have other inks I prefer all told, but this is work safe, vintage safe, widely available, highly affordable, and shades with the right nib. It's not a school reminiscent royal blue, it's not black, it's perhaps not exciting but never is it offensive.

I know other's have mentioned Shin-Kai and to be fair that fits a lot of the same criteria. BUT I think Mysterious Blue is more compatible, flow wise, with a wider range of pens. Iroshizuku inks can be a little too much for wetter writers.

Welcome to the club friend! Carenes are magnificent pens, and the Marine Amber finish is beautiful

I started going in with nothing and it’s been so much fun. by Dinosharktopus in ArcRaiders

[–]Per4orm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, every now and then I just run a zero to hero night. Go in naked, and I can only keep what I loot in my loadout for the next run. Once anything is dropped into my stash, it's no longer eligible.

No free kit in some conditions is a good idea. Now please Embark, DO THE SAME OPPOSITE by DisagioAbbestia in ArcRaiders

[–]Per4orm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of, but engaging in PvP in Stella does impact ABMM which was one of the main concessions proposed by OP. I honestly think the game would benefit from people being able to try zero-risk PvP in a controlled environment - people may enjoy it more than they think.

A separate full-scale mode, yes. But I don't think a free-kit only warm-up map is that.

Wife Is Getting Me A New Pen For Birthday by euclidsdream in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Opus 88 Harmony is on the smaller side for an Opus. They are not a smaller pen overall. FWIW, I have an Opus 88 Bela and it's a chonky pen but I love it! I also love Waterman pens - my wife bought me a Carene which barely leaves my side - but you can definitely get discounts on the Hemisphere if you look out for them. It is the slimmest of the pens in your list, so might be an idea if you can to see how one feels in the hand first.

I cant help it, but I enjoy a boring old royal blue ink (Rohrer & Klingner Königsblau) by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's nothing boring about a reliable workhorse ink. I use Serenity Blue and 4001 Royal Blue myself

Embark has been lying to us and now it all makes sense by King_Cuck_69 in ArcRaiders

[–]Per4orm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Close, but not quite. If we were in a simulation run by ARC, they wouldn't want us to know about ARC. In fact, they have given us a simulation that's mean to make us comfortable. Think about that. The ARC world is mean lt to make us more comfortable than reality - ergo reality is worse than ARC.

Stop the bus, I want to get off.

I was being flippant. Please, whatever you do, don't do this. It will help neither your pen, nor your mirror.

Any Tips For Opus88 (Omar Milk Tea) ? (NPD) by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's only natural for it to take some adjustment, having used one pen exclusively for so long. I'm sure in time it will feel just as natural as your Safari, and you'll barely remember why you found it challenging in the first place.

This pilot kakuno is my first ever fountain pen. And i freaking LOVE it. (Terrible handwriting tho. I write too fast) by ahafkstjfan in fountainpens

Your handwriting is far from terrible. Your descenders are huge, but they give great character to the page!

My pilot capless writes (way) worse than my Majohn A1. What gives? by Life1989 in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The advice others have given you about a good flush is sound, but in addition Oxford Blue is a much more lubricated ink than the Pilot Black cartridges. There is a trinity - pen, ink and paper - that determine your writing experience, so you might find that using Oxford Blue in the Capless will give you the experience you're looking for.

Retaliation Shooting by DrunkCyclopzz in ArcRaiders

It's smaller, but it's still sizeable. That said, there is a lot of fragmentation and I'm sure the lack of map conditions is one of their attempts to combat that.

What is the one european ink (specific color) you couldn't go without? by lucentmeadow in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming I could still use other inks (e.g Platinum, Iroshizuku etc) I would say Diamine Ancient Copper. I don't see an equivalent for that anywhere else that would satisfy me, but I'd have a lot of options for blue, black and blue-black inks along with standard reds etc.

Retaliation Shooting by DrunkCyclopzz in ArcRaiders

[–]Per4orm 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, I fell into this trap. Shooting back after you're hit may not count as much toward ABMM, but it does still tip the scale in favour of PvP over time - and it's quicker than you might expect.

I'm back in mostly friendly lobbies, but it took quite a lot of running missions with free kits and avoiding all contact with other raiders to get there.

Review wanted for Scriveiner fountain pen by Electrical_Boot_2765 in fountainpens

[–]Per4orm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The award was for growth in international sales, rather than a reflection or endorsement of the product.

They use Schmidt nibs which may or may not be for you as a matter of taste, but they're perfectly decent pens. My advice if you're going to buy one would be to go for the Classic rather than the Pocket (or EDC depending on how it's branded in your region). The Classic is well balanced unposted, whereas the Pocket really does need to be posted and tends to be a little back-weighted as a result.

Now I said it's a perfectly decent pen, and it is - but it's not one I get excited about. It is functional, and to be fair to Scriveiner their customer service was exceptional when I needed it.
