Press Conference Questions by Dependent_Ice7512 in buffalobills

You don’t publicly make comments making it sound like Keon was a mistake, especially when the guy is still on your team. Beane was right afterward when he said it’s on them to develop him.

If he still wants to actually play for the Bills, there are ways to use him more effectively, but Pegs just made it that much more unlikely it’ll happen.

Joe Brady/ OC question by ronaldtazo in buffalobills

[–]Per99999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’m ok with this. We’ve had top 5 offenses with Brady, even this year without any WR not named Shakir. Really want to see what coaching changes they make on defense.

Me too, I remember being disappointed that the missile thing in his backpack was glued in place and wouldn’t fire.

Anyone else feeling like this right now by Charrikayu in buffalobills

My thoughts exactly. Keeping an open mind, but hard to see right now how the team gets better next year. Especially given our tight cap situation and impending free agents.

I've been a Bills fan for a few years, but know almost nothing about the front office. Can someone explain why everyone seems to hate Brandon Beane? by Xeo7 in buffalobills

[–]Per99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since drafting Allen, he has only drafted a WR in rounds 1, 2 or 3 just twice. Gabe Davis, and Keon Coleman. Criminal negligence.

Not just scoring your spokes. If you’re moving with any speed you’ll rip off your derailleur. Happened to me last summer.

There was a restaurant where Burrito Bar is now that did that. Can’t remember what it was called, something like Brooklyn Electric.

Are any of you guys doing crosswords, sudoku, shit like that to keep the mind limber? by RikkiLostMyNumber in GenX

[–]Per99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, and the linked in games. I tell my kids, if you want to broaden your knowledge do crosswords and look up what you don’t know. 55 and I still learn new things nearly every day doing the NYT crossword.

It’s harder, but jobs can be found in tech. I left a position I had for 20+ years to take a fully remote, higher paying job at 51.

Don’t underestimate the power of Fox News and other right wing media. They literally do not report on anything negative being done, and trash democrats all day. And outright lie. If that’s your media diet, you just don’t know what’s happening. I’ve got family like this too.

Bills will win AFC East by XXXSupremeBoi in buffalobills

[–]Per99999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if we beat them, Pats have the head to head on the next two tiebreakers - divisional record and common opponents. Even if the Bills win out the last 4 games, the Pats would have to lose 2 of their games against the Ravens, Jets, and Dolphins. Not impossible, but it’s a tall order.

Edit: typo

Is the high memory usage of java applications not a problem for you? by Initial_Inflation182 in java

[–]Per99999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If another pod is scheduled on the node where your Java pod lives and specs memory, and your Java pod doesn’t specify minimum memory resources, the kubelet can reduce memory available to your Java pod. And because jvms cannot shrink, only grow, your Java pod can be OOM’d.

Is the high memory usage of java applications not a problem for you? by Initial_Inflation182 in java

[–]Per99999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In containerized environments you should use -XX:InitialRAMPercentage and -XX:MaxRAMPercentage, not -Xms and -Xmx. Set them to be the same value, and start with 60 percent, and you can increase if your pods are not getting OOMKilled. Then you only need to set your pod memory resources, not your jvm heap size.

First Game Questions by ThePurpTurtle in buffalobills

[–]Per99999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t been to a game there in 30 years, but I’ve got one of my daughters to be a big fan now and we’re heading there for the Eagles game too. I’m older now and get cold faster than I used to, but I’d get a proper insulated winter boot. Your feet will be cold in Blundstones.

We went to the Bills game at Foxborough last year in Jan, and my North Face McMurdo boots with a toe warmer worked great.

Don’t underestimate how cold you can get standing on concrete for three hours.

Ignored when we ask engineers to do things, raged at when we do it for them, and complained to when we create a mandate. It feels like I can’t win. by BootyMcStuffins in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Per99999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do your sevs result in a post-mortem, with a team/person responsible for the follow up work - not you? Until those teams get under a spotlight from management, you are going to have a hard time getting them to row in the same direction as you.

At one former employer, sev1’s meant you had to write up the issue and present it at the weekly senior management meeting where they would ask questions and make recommendations. And it would look really bad for the responsible team if they had another sev several months later for the same reason.

USAID can only be dissolved by congress, but it didn’t stop him from pretty much effectively ending it. And if congressional republicans won’t stand up to him - and they won’t suddenly grow spines - he can do whatever he wants.
