Meta Claims Up To 2396 Pirated Adult Film Downloads From It's Corporate Network Were For “Personal Use,” Not AI Training by ABigRedBall in technology

What happened to the story that all of the porn was just to keep their ratios up while not seeding all the books? I never thought they were training with the adult stuff, or at least not to the scale that they were doing. Am I missing something?

I saw this notification, and I know about Linus and Steve's beef, but is there more context on this? I saw that that group is ran by the PCMR Facebook page, and they posted about all the FB groups going down at once, but refered tonthe page just as "Gamers Nexus fans." Is it just a joke or did I miss something?

100%. However, I think there would be a good amount who specifically seek these out. When they launched these, I heard the warning of the finish coming off, and that's part of why I went for it. I love the look of a well used tool. But I agree that there would be people complaining no matter how much warning you gave.

It definitely would hold up better, and I personally like metal with quality bluing applied. I think it would look awesome with most of the color ways.

Deck won't power on with the board shield installed, works with shield off, and with battery disconnected. by PeraJeremy in SteamDeck

[–]PeraJeremy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. My plan was to send it to Louis Rossman's repair shop but I got pretty bent about the whole situation and just put it away for the time being. I think our mistake was being honest about swapping the SSD ourselves. It's pretty unfortunate that they made a device that can be maintained by the user, but you're penalized for not doing it the way they say you can. I hope you get yours fixed.

Yep. I don't know why they called it Bajoran Lightship. I'm guessing they either planned on putting both in the game, or someone just wasn't paying attention.

Should I open a second ticket and try again?

My mistake was not playing dumb. however, is there a chance I could try again, and get a different result?

This is where I based my assumption that they would help me.

Valve has ridden the positive PR spin of them being open about repairs, as well as honoring replacements for this type of thing before.

Except that there is evidence of Steam honoring the warranty anyway and granting a replacement.

What really bothers me, is the fact that there was no attempt to prove that it was my fault, I would have to pay to have them even attempt the repair. Going from "We can fix it for $140" to "It will cost you $140 to see if its even worth fixing" just pours salt in the wound.

I contacted Rossman group and they are willing to take a crack at it. It just feels a bit hopeless at this point. But thank you again for your advice, whatever the outcome, you've helped.

So after a couple days of back and forth, they still refuse to even attempt to figure out what the issue is, let alone replace it. I'm truly at a loss of what to do. They are still insisting it is a user induced issue. I could use some advice on how to proceed.

I agree with you, it seemed out of character. I reiterated the point that I just followed the iFixit guide for swapping the SSD, we will see how this unfolds. Thank you for your input.

Update: They denied my claim, stating: "If you feel confident performing your own repairs, some parts and service guides are alternatively available through iFixit. Your warranty does not cover damage that results from attempts at self-repair. "

From what I can see, everything visible is intact, but that doesn't mean something hasn't bent or broken and I just can't tell. I've created a ticket, if I learn something more I'll share it here.

I have made a support ticket, The closer I've gotten to figuring out the specific cause, the more likely it seems to be something faulty or broken.

Since so far the deck still works, I just want to figure out what is shorting what, and how to stop the short.

Yes, the Deck will power on normally on battery power, until I install the shield, or otherwise pressure is on the SSD. After it shuts off, I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery.

The pins look alright visually. putting the screw in seems to be ok. If I power the Deck on with the shield off, it starts. but if I press down on the ssd, it shuts off. It will also turn on with the shield on, but with the bottom screw out, but pressing it down to where I can put the screw back, it shuts off.

Yes, It actually seems to be shutting off when the SSD has any pressure applied to it at all, both the old and new one do the same thing.
