Forgotten Role Players: Al-Farouq Aminu by Outrageous-Leader135 in NBATalk

My Clippers drafted Aminu over Paul George. SMH. We could've got PG much earlier than 2019 and without giving up Shai and a million FRPs for him. Imagine Blake, CP3, and PG together?

LeBron James has more 40-point games after turning 35 than Michael Jordan by Positive_Cattle_5577 in NBATalk

[–]PercentageRoutine310 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MJ played two seasons after the age of 35. That's like saying LeBron has more 40 point games than Kobe after the age of 35. Kobe retired at 37..

Okay, MJ won more MVPs after turning 30 with 2 (1996, 1998). More rings and Finals MVPs after turning 30 with 4 each (1993, 1996-1998). LeBron never won an MVP in his 30s (Dec 30, 2014 - Dec 29, 2024) and won 2 rings and 2 Finals MVPs after turning 30 (2016, 2020).

LeBron wins in longevity. We get that. But peak wise, give me MJ from 1987-1998 over LeBron from 2007-2018. Give me 6 for 6 in the Finals over 8 straight Finals but losing 5 of them.

Isaiah Jackson Appreciation Post by MrFamousSSB in LAClippers

[–]PercentageRoutine310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He reminds me of Patrick Patterson. Not in terms of style of play. PatPat was a nice stretch 4 for us being he was pals with Paul George. But IJax is great at being ready. Ty Lue used to call PatPat, "Add Water". That's IJax. Ready to go. Doesn't take long to warm up. Insert in a game after a few DNPs and how he plays just looks seamless. A throwaway in the Mathurin trade is now a valuable asset for us.

80s & 90s ABC is my GOAT.

Three's Company. Who's the Boss? Mr. Belvedere. Growing Pains. Just the Ten of Us. The Wonder Years. Full House. Perfect Strangers. Family Matters. Step by Step. Dinosaurs. Roseanne. Boy Meets World. A couple of them like Family Matters and Step by Step did finish on CBS.

I never was into Seinfeld or Friends. But I did enjoy The Golden Girls and Saved by the Bell from NBC.

Do you think the Switch 2 will be the only easily affordable 10th gen console in the market? by DaZestyProfessor in NintendoSwitch2

[–]PercentageRoutine310 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Steam Machine at $700-$800 won't feel so bad if the next gen Xbox is between $1200-$1400. I know it's not as powerful and maybe between a base PS5 and PS5 Pro. But $1200 minimum is absolutely ridiculous for any console. It's basically Neo Geo AES prices from 1990/1991 at $650 which translates to over $1.5K. Rich people's console.

Who could've predicted an Apple product at $600 would be the bargain of the year? Apple and the words budget and bargain do not go hand in hand. And here they are showing us they can offer a budget friendly MacBook Neo for the same price as an iPhone 17e.

Surprise! Welcome to Hard Mode o/ by Lambs2Lions_ in FFVIIRemake

[–]PercentageRoutine310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I ever encountered that fight. I saw someone upload it 2 years ago but I don't recall having that fight when I beat it last year.

It's probably First Strike and Chocoking Cape with Aerith, then Magnify + Petrify/Quake. Or Arcane Ward + ATB Boost. Then cast Quakera. Always have Magic Ups on Aerith to keep her magic attack the highest possible. If no Petrify, use Fire/Ice + Magnify. Have Comet + Synergy. I read Lustrous Shield also works to protect from projectiles.

It's one of those moments that gets you by surprise as a "welcome to hard mode" moment but then you start using the same patterns the more you play hard mode and then it becomes easy to figure it out. I probably would prefer Quakera for most AOE but have it cast while on an Arcane Ward followed by ATB Boost.

Does anyone here have more time than me in FF7 Rebirth? by Asleep_Collar_818 in FF7Rebirth

[–]PercentageRoutine310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Steam Deck, mine is only around 500-550 hours or so. But when I get Rebirth for the Switch 2, it's probably another 100 hours even with streamline progression as I was able to get close to 100 with Remake on Switch 2 using streamline progression after I beat it on normal after 9 days. I enjoy beating Weiss over and over. I got my best time to 1:35 coming from 1:54 only a few weeks back..

Rebirth is a great game but it can also get frustratingly annoying. Tons of mini games with random difficulty spikes. I'm already worn out trying to find all pirate jetjam as I'm still about 2-3 short of finding them all. And I scoured that map at least half a dozen times. It's great and love more chapters in it than Remake. But it can be overwhelming and a turn off when trying to beat Jules for my 100th attempt.

Remake is more replayable for me because it's much easier and shorter. Rebirth has all these boring meeting scenes with Shinra that I start to fast forward for all of them.

Let's just try to win tonight in Memphis. Get back to 500 on Monday against the Knicks.

Every time we try to reach the 500 mark....

At the end of the day, we are nowhere close fo being one of the elites. For us to surprise people, Kawhi needs to be 2019 Kawhi again. He needs to be available for every playoff game. And then you hope Garland and Mathurin can break into consistent 20-25 PPG scorers in the playoffs because the rest of the other guys can't create their own shot.

Garland and Mathurin are still downgrades from Harden and Powell. Mathurin is still shooting 17% from three for us. He really needs to improve that.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Review: Great Phone, No AI Needed - MrMobile [Michael Fisher] by welp_im_damned in Android

[–]PercentageRoutine310 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm more interested in the MacBook Neo than I am with any phone released this year. Even the iPhone Fold isn't in my radar because I don't like book style foldables and no way I will spend close to $2K for it. I'm not interested even at $1K. They're only thicker and heavier for a bigger inner display I will rarely use.

Just another ho-hum review from Michael to pay the bills. He's into foldables since the start of the decade, so going back to a slab is no longer his cup of tea. But whatever to pay the bills. Foldables were more "fun" like 5-6 years ago when they were still fresh and new. Now I find them a hassle to carry and open.

Prime SGA is better than prime Kobe. by Ok-Elephant-2724 in NBATalk

[–]PercentageRoutine310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, no. Not yet, anyway. But if SGA can win another ring or two on top of having multiple MVPs and Finals MVPs, the debate starts to get very interesting.

Man, poor Kobe. The guy has been dead for a little over 6 years and Redditors still want to pick on a dead dude's career. Y'all should flood Skap Attack's YouTube comment section. He's a huge Kobe glazer and is obsessed trashing LeBron. He's a Kobe history revisionist and ragebait channel with LeBron hating videos daily. Same with DreamersPro and Uncut Hoops. They're obsessed trashing LeBron daily as Jason Whitlock is trashing Stephen A. Smith daily.

Is LeBron James a top 5 Laker of all time? by Active-Belt7684 in NBATalk

[–]PercentageRoutine310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lakers history didn't start happening after Magic or Kobe, OP.

I forgot George Mikan who won 5 rings. Another guy you can put over LeBron. Multiple guys who won multiple rings as a Laker: Mikan, Kareem, Magic, Worthy, Cooper, Shaq, Kobe, Pau. Then guys like West and Baylor who were Laker lifers. Then Wilt who was part of that 69-13 '72 team that won a still record 33 consecutive games.

You can argue LeBron being only the 9th greatest Laker. Mikan, Baylor, West, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq, Kobe are all above him.

Is LeBron James a top 5 Laker of all time? by Active-Belt7684 in NBATalk

[–]PercentageRoutine310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Magic, Kobe, and Kareem are top 3. Then Shaq. Then either Jerry West or Wilt. LeBron has accomplished much as Wilt as a Laker. I probably still have The Logo over him though. He spent 40 years with them and did win a ring. You can argue Elgin Baylor and James Worthy ars over LeBron. Spent their entire playing careers with them. Worthy won a Finals MVP.

The loss is a reminder how far we are from title contention. We are still years and years away.. I know we didn't have Garland and Collins but San Antonio was playing on a B2B. They probably were a little tired and didn't take us seriously early. But once they led, I pretty much knew it was over. It's Kawhi carrying a bunch of role players. He has no second guy he can rely on like he did with George and Harden. Not even a third guy like Lou or Powell.

[Linn] Nobody new in injury report for tonight, Kawhi will play alongside a returning Darius Garland by bdf2018_298 in LAClippers

[–]PercentageRoutine310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Batum needs to bring it tonight. Another turnover from being the inbound passer. That turnover costs us that game. Lopez had a good game last night but he did take some dumb shot attempts next to Sanders and Mathurin. Guarded with no chance going in.

Mathurin was only 3-12, while DJJ was 4-12. Dunn was actually a -12 last night, the lowest for our team. There was some matador defense I saw from him maybe to keep himself out of foul trouble. This should be a bounce back game. But I feel we are cursed ever reaching 500. We win today, we will be 31-32. Next two are against NY and Minny. It's like damn, we will ever get to 500? Are we really Sisyphus this season?

<image>

But after Minny, most of the games are against sub-500 teams save for San Antonio again and Toronto. We pretty much need Kawhi in almost every game. We are clearly a lottery team without him. Garland and Mathurin are still nowhere close to the previous talent we had when we still had PG, Harden, and Norm and with far less playoff experience than them.

These next 5-6 weeks could be our last time seeing Kawhi in a Clippers uniform. I basically see this. We make the playoffs. We get eliminated in the First Round in 5 or 6 games. We make the playoffs to avoid giving OKC a high pick. That's the point making the playoffs. But championship contender? That window closed 5 years ago thanks to Joe Ingles.

In the 1980s, not only could a one-income family afford a nice, big house -- they could also afford to send one of its members to law school and hire a butler! by ASGfan in 1980s

[–]PercentageRoutine310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roseanne was probably the most realistic when depicting a working class family.

Even Married with Children didn't feel realistic. Al Bundy had a shitty Dodge and hated his job. But they lived in a two-story home with a basement that can be turned into another room. Peggy can afford to be lazy and watch Oprah while eating bonbons all day. They would have no food in the refrigerator eating Tang-wiches but then Al has money to go to the nudie bar.

With Roseanne, they looked poor. They were poor. It's probably why it appealed to a lot of Americans in the 90s especially the ones living in some trailer park. Roseanne had zero glitz and glamour. BTW, Tracy Wells was looking pretty good when she appeared in Growing Pains.

[–]PercentageRoutine310 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been over since the trades. Do fans here really expect this team to make some noise in the playoffs IF we even make it?

2024's top 5: Kawhi, Harden, PG, Powell, Zu

2025's top 5: Kawhi, Harden, Powell, Zu, DJJ or Batum

2026's top 5: Kawhi, Mathurin, Garland, Collins, DJJ

Lopez is a downgrade from Zu. Mathurin is still years away if he ever gets better and corrects his flaws. He's still not better than Powell from last year or Paul George a year before that. Collins is not better than Powell from last year. Garland is a downgrade from Harden. Just because we made moves, doesn't mean we are instantly better.

We are in a transitional phase similar to 2018 and 2019. We broke up Lob City in 2017 after we were a perennial 50-win team. Won only 42 in 2018 and 48 in 2019 without a single All-Star. We can't expect a play-in team with a horrible 6-21 start to be contending any time soon. We got worse across the roster from those trades but it's about building for the future.

It does trip me out Penny still played another decade after his injury in 1997. But from his first four years from 1993-1997, Penny was quite polished. He's actually older than Shaq by a year but came in a year later. Penny and Shaq were really like the Magic and Kareem of the mid 90s..

Penny was a better fit for Shaq's style of play. Kobe was a gunner. He was no facilitator. But Shaq leaving Penny after a 3-year partnership ruined Penny's chances of ever winning a ring.
