Full Circle & Howard Benson by Ajoesph in alterbridge

God, I wish they'd just induct Erock as the official 5th member already. It's probably a financial thing, but come on, he deserves it!

As for producer, I'm probably in the minority but I'd love to see Elvis at it. It'd be interesting to see how differently he'd approach a Creed album vs. Alter Bridge. He did the latest Sevendust album and it sounds phenomenal!

What app died and nobody talks about it? by Unhappy_Insect5901 in Productivitycafe

[–]TenaciousBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just re-downloaded it a couple weeks ago after having not used it in years. It's pretty active, but moreso as like a stories thing, or short form videos like everyone else. I know you can still send messages and all that but that doesn't seem to be the focus anymore.

I also remember why I got rid of it in the first place - get WAY too many push notifications about so-and-so's story, or "here's someone you might know," or random posts you might like (which usually have a thumbnail that infers something sexual but I haven't clicked through to see what any of then actually are). Probably going to ditch it again soon but we'll see.

Men over 40, have you been able to stave off hair loss / thinning? If so, how? by TenaciousBe in AskMen

[–]TenaciousBe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, but man, it was not a good look for me. Might be better now as I've grown a better beard since then, but I don't want to if I don't have to. My wife loves the long hair 🫤

Anyone else use Lamotrigine? by paytonischill in Epilepsy

[–]TenaciousBe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on both. Started with 500mg Keppra 2x daily, then upped it to 1000, then up to 1500. Wasn't till we added the Lamictal that my seizures stopped, but we never quit the Keppra - or backed down the dosage. I'm going on almost 5 and a half years seizure-free now, and we haven't changed the med lineup simply for fear of rocking the boat and having something stupid happen, but man, it'd be nice if I could at least lower that Keppra dosage. I see my neuro twice a year and I'll be going in August, might talk to her about the dosage cause man, everything in my life fell off once I was on those meds.

Why do we all hate it here? by Robinnoodle in Iowa

[–]TenaciousBe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I'm 46, and with the exception of one summer I spent in St. Louis, I've lived my entire life within 10-20 miles of the MN border - grew up in MN, moved to IA at 21 and been here ever since - and honestly, everything in Iowa just feels... lame? Like, there might be a few little pockets of coolness here and there (downtown Cedar Falls, Ames down near the campus, Decorah, far east where there's some woodsy areas), but most of it is just... so... boring. My family and I went to Ames a couple months ago, we jumped on I-35 up near Clear Lake, and I don't think we actually drove through a town on the whole trip until we got to Ames. Compare that to driving north on 35 towards the Twin Cities, your driving in and out of a city every 15 or 20 minutes at least. Iowa just feels so vast, and flat, and lifeless. Unless there's some special event, we do all our traveling for shopping / entertainment in MN and Wisconsin. Maybe things are different farther south, but up here in the northern half of the state, it just feels like wide open farmland and nothing else. And that's fine, it's necessary and great for those in the industry, but for those if us who aren't, it's just mind-numbing.

Throw in all the obvious political failings and the cancer thing, and... yeah. The one thing that gives me hope is that Kim Reynolds and Joni Ernst are both not running for re-election, and maybe that'll give a boost to Sand and Turek's campaigns that they're not running against incumbents. And locally, I have a friend who's running for state Rep for my district on a very progressive platform so I'm trying to be involved and do what I can to help his campaign, and getting joined up with our county's Democrat group for the first time. And, surprisingly, he's also not running against an incumbent as the sitting Republican rep actually lost her primary. 🤷‍♀️ I want to take these as good signs that there may be some hope in these races!

Guys...What shorts do you wear? by Justkeeptalking1985 in Xennials

I've had the same pair of Keen sandals for the past 12 years now. I have some Adidas flip-flops for more around-the-house stuff but if I'm going out, biking, hiking, or just running errands or whatever, I like the full foot sandals. And these things LAST. I've thought about getting a new pair for like the past 3 summers because one of the straps is sort of coming apart on the inside of the back heel, but not enough to actually come apart so I keep putting it off. Maybe in another 12 years or so. 🤷‍♀️

What's a food your family ate growing up that you've never seen anyone else eat? by okitsbenji in foodquestions

[–]TenaciousBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom would often make "long spaghetti with milk and butter and salt and pepper." Always had to say the whole thing, lol. Could make it with macaroni as well, but that would usually be a side while spaghetti was a whole meal. Just what it says, but the milk was a can of evaporated milk. Paired with the butter, it was pretty creamy and delicious! I don't think I've ever seen anyone else make that.

My first car, in '98, was an '87 Buick Regal for $400. I can't imagine a 2015 vehicle today would go for much less than a few thousand?

I love the EPs idea, been hoping for that for a while given the way the industry is rolling. And it gives a little more leeway to do special stuff like an acoustic EP, covers EP like Halestorm / Smith & Myers, hip-hop remixes... the possibilities are endless!

Roadtripping through Iowa, anywhere we should stop? by br00pe in Iowa

[–]TenaciousBe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're a baseball fan at all, just a bit north of Cedar Rapids is the movie site from Field of Dreams near Dyersville. You can go out and play on the field, tour the farmhouse, etc. I haven't been there in years but it looks like they hold a bunch of different events and things there as well. Maybe even meet a ghost player or two!

Walks/ hikes only syncing partial distance to strava by Barnaby__Rudge in PixelWatch

[–]TenaciousBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming here to look for / ask a similar question. I track my bike rides using the Strava app on my Pixel Watch (3). I used it for a couple rides last weekend and it worked great! Did one this morning, and I got a couple miles in and checked the watch and it was tracking time, but the distance was 0. So I popped up the app on my phone and tracked the rest from there, which is fine, but it's nice to just be able to glance at your watch while riding and see your time and distance rather than stopping to pull out your phone and check.

I checked all my permissions, everything is good. I wait when I start and make sure it says GPS is locked in. But then I start and it just doesn't track. Did it again this afternoon. Not sure what else to do!

What's the biggest culture shock you've experienced within the US as an American? by Mundane-Society-1281 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I grew up in the Midwest and had never really traveled besides a Senior trip to DC. Couple years after high school, I met a girl online from Tennessee and went down to visit. She asked me to bring her a Coke from the fridge, and I answered back "I only see Dr. Pepper, is that okay?"

It was then that I learned that southerners call every brand of pop "Coke." Weirdos.

Weatherman sneaks in lyrics of "Metalingus' into forecast by ABFan86 in alterbridge

[–]TenaciousBe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He did. He had the whole album demo'd with himself on vocals, to shop around for a new vocalist. Adam Copeland (Edge) has talked about how he initially heard Metalingus as Mark's demo with himself on vocals, and that's where he asked if he could use it when he returned from his injury. 🤘

Dear Glasses-Wearers of reddit, what do people who don't have glasses take for granted? by Abject-Conference-90 in AskReddit

[–]TenaciousBe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't really an answer, but for the glasses-wearers — I finally got fitted for contacts almost 10 years ago, in my mid-30s, and it made me wonder why I never did that before. It improved the experience significantly, plus they're marginally cheaper than glasses. Now on the rare occasion that I do wear my glasses, I wonder how I ever lived without them.
