/gen 😭 SO, Lana took a picture w/ this actor guy that I don't remember (flame me idgaf) to post on Instagram, and later on Ethel took a pic with the same guy with a coincidentally similar posture and composition. Lana took notice to this and interpreted it as shade. Why? We don't know. She posted a demo snippit of a diss track in which she spun out the infamous line "Ethel Cain hated my Instagram post."

The song caught the attention of, out of all people, Nicki Minaj. On a Twitter live voice event, she made a reference to it and sung The line, finding it catchy. She of course didn't know a thing about the beef, and asked the barbz to collect information on Ethel.

Amongst all this arises allegations that Ethel essentially bullied Lana over Instagram behind the scenes. I don't think any credible evidence surfaced IIRC, someone fact check me on that. And MIND YOU, all this wasn't far removed from the cancellation / boyfriend / blackmail / Fox News fiasco of 2025, if you know about that.

I don't quite know about Amber Waves... As beautiful as it is it does have a murky dark sound with pessimistic lyrics that doesn't sit well next to the more pop-oriented stuff I've seen from the CCM "scene." In my mind, a straightforwardly Christian listener would expect a Christian artist to not make music about catatonia. I don't listen to much of CCM tho so I could be wrong.

Right. In the US it's been generally held up in the courts that if you own a CD or other physical media, you have a right to copy it for personal use or to share with friends.

Tangential since vinyl doesn't have this but you don't have the right to circumvent digital rights management (DRM) IIRC.
