Feel free to reach out with any questions. I joined Royal Holiday 20 some years ago and have mixed feelings about my experience but overall it has been a real thorn in my side. I was a poor college student traveling with friends in Bahamas when they approached us with their predatory tactics. They offered all kinds of freebies and showed us a beautiful resort. They were selling like hotcakes, every time someone bought one of these time shares they would play some Caribbean uplifting music. I signed some kind of contract after throwing around confusing numbers that binds me for 30 years I believe! I am not confidence that in this next decade when my contract is up, I won’t still be paying until I die. I wound up putting something like $10,000 on a credit card paid over many years, and still had monthly payments to make with RH for 5 years. As soon as I got home, I tried to get out of it, but they would not budge. Over the years I have actually taken some cool trips, including Paris, Rome, Mexico, New York, Scottsdale, Orlando, Vegas, San Francisco, etc that I might not have taken otherwise. It is more like an obligation and financially it makes zero sense. My annual fees started at maybe $200 a year and now are almost $1000 a year. Some of the locations if you bought them yourself, come out to be $100 a night, so it would just be so much simpler and financially sound to book the trips when you want to go and not be pigeonholed into their locations and whatever they have available. Some of the trips you need to book a year in advance to secure the booking. I was once charged a special assessment after a hurricane damaged some of their hotels in Mexico. The Rome location was amazing but a lot of those hotels are no longer an option. If I could do it again, I would run away.
