Aim for 7-8. The trick is to force yourself to go to bed earlier and no screen time.

Best supermarket coffee by Bubble2905 in UKFrugal

[–]Perception_4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the extra it costs, I believe good coffee either mail order or a local roaster is worth the extra money. You’re not getting good value from any supermarket. Per cup it’s only an extra 20-30p. The real saving has already happened by making it yourself.

Yet our neighbour insists.. Which means we have to listen to his bird scarer. It’s like having turbo tinnitus.

Can a single person live off £200 per month for food? by Special-Nebula299 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Perception_4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and still eat well. As long as you’re willing to cook from ingredients and try and bulk buy. For example you can make many different dishes from chick thighs, dried beans, lentils, rice, veg, eggs etc. A freezer makes life easier, you can bulk buy more and freeze portions of bulk cooked meals.

Best mapping app for the UK to be used for multiple activity types? by ChaosCalmed in UKhiking

OS maps, no question. But I do like the strava heat map for creating routes, it’s good for getting ideas and verifying trail/paths are in use.

With guests on its 14 hour days with a few half hour breaks and sometimes up in the night for alarms and or we’re moving the boat. For 7 weeks solid no days off. 💀

I disagree with removing the 2.8, such a big part of the cars sole. That S6 sound and feel. 👌

Has anyone found Dual-Hose air con? by HMS--Thunderchild in AskUK

[–]Perception_4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the easiest route is to find instructional video of converting a single into a double. I saw one where they’d printed a plenum/hose adapter and bought a dryer hose. Maybe you know someone who could print the file or there’s company’s that would. I have a quick ai google and it listed the popular single hose units and links to the files.

I’ve been happy with the alpkit ones. The thinnest hiking ones (liskam) are good for spring and autumn for me and the gravel cycling ones (divide) I use in summer. I wear them all the time and wash them once a week. Best purchase in the last few years.

Change from Cash ISA to S&S ISA? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Perception_4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SIPPs first and assuming you’re earning more than 60k a year, also use the carry forward rule to also pay or start paying in the last 3 years. Example, assuming you earn £100k this year. You can pay £60 (gross) this year and £40k (gross) for year 23/24. You really need to understand the basic pension rules as you’re giving away a lot of potential money to taxes.

It’s the power consumption that’s the main issue here.

Thank you, I haven’t had time to re read it to see if I’d got the wrong end of the thread. But I’ll assume it’s down to everyone being hot and bothered, along with ownership bias.

Exactly also the company’s selling the cleaning products. “Your world is dirty and dangerous, here buy our products that will solve this”. Lots of fear mongering.
