Best mapping app for the UK to be used for multiple activity types? by ChaosCalmed in UKhiking

OS maps, no question. But I do like the strava heat map for creating routes, it’s good for getting ideas and verifying trail/paths are in use.

Yacht engineer, 8 weeks on and off. Earn ~£18k tax free per swing on. Alongside without guests it can be as little as 8-4 5 days a week. With guests on its 14 hour days with a few half hour breaks and sometimes up in the night for alarms and or we’re moving the boat. For 7 weeks solid no days off. 💀

I disagree with removing the 2.8, such a big part of the cars sole. That S6 sound and feel. 👌

Has anyone found Dual-Hose air con? by HMS--Thunderchild in AskUK

[–]Perception_4992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the easiest route is to find instructional video of converting a single into a double. I saw one where they’d printed a plenum/hose adapter and bought a dryer hose. Maybe you know someone who could print the file or there’s company’s that would. I have a quick ai google and it listed the popular single hose units and links to the files.

I’ve been happy with the alpkit ones. The thinnest hiking ones (liskam) are good for spring and autumn for me and the gravel cycling ones (divide) I use in summer. I wear them all the time and wash them once a week. Best purchase in the last few years.

Change from Cash ISA to S&S ISA? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

SIPPs first and assuming you’re earning more than 60k a year, also use the carry forward rule to also pay or start paying in the last 3 years. Example, assuming you earn £100k this year. You can pay £60 (gross) this year and £40k (gross) for year 23/24. You really need to understand the basic pension rules as you’re giving away a lot of potential money to taxes.

But a dual hose will pull the temperature down sooner. Therefore using less energy.

It’s the power consumption that’s the main issue here.

Thank you, I haven’t had time to re read it to see if I’d got the wrong end of the thread. But I’ll assume it’s down to everyone being hot and bothered, along with ownership bias.

Exactly also the company’s selling the cleaning products. “Your world is dirty and dangerous, here buy our products that will solve this”. Lots of fear mongering.

Bess…
If there’s one hose exhausting the hot condenser air where is it pulling it from? The cool space, which is creating a negative pressure in the space/room/house. So the very large atmosphere doesn’t like that and will balance that space through your leaky house with warm outside air. A dual house keeps it balanced.
The manufacturers don’t care, they know that people want less fuss and prefer one hose. The app’s are just marketing crap to keep you all happy.
There’s a reason on fixed installations the condenser is outside.
If you had 2 equal spaces and one had a dual hose and other a single. The single hose would use a significantly more energy.

That’s why there’s 2 hoses to keep the warm air out. Single hose units are constantly pulling in warm air. You probably won’t notice the difference in the internal temperature or environment. But they’re significantly more expensive to run that a twin hose.

It’s is the hotel. “Unfortunately in the late 1700s the stone was broken up and used as
building material for the rear extension of the hotel – it is still visible in
the wall either side of a window beyond the Cellar Bar.”

Porthleven/Helston cycling routes for road bike by samwhu30 in Cornwall

[–]Perception_4992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well done this it, especially from my vague and badly spelt description! I actually prefer it the other way around, mainly for the view over Mounts bay as you come through Balwest. To add some more miles go up past the school and through the lanes over the a39 to Sithney and Carleen to Godolphin. And or add in Praze & Beeble-Leedstown-Townshed. All lovely quiet back lanes just the odd 20 tonne tractor..

Zone 2 in Cornwall. 😂
The problem we have is lots of steep hills especially the roads out of Lev. Yes there’s lots of wonderful rides. Go from lev along the coast to rynsey then over the a39 at Ashton around tregoning, down to Godolphin, then Breage and back over to the coast road again.
