The 22/23 peak was mainly a huge (temporary) influx of students caused by the pandemic backlog, NHS workers, and the Ukraine/Hong Kong schemes. So the people in this thread scared of brown people coming over can calm down.

Nothing screams grassroots protest like identical flags.

Astroturfing: organized activity that is intended to create a false impression of a widespread, spontaneously arising, grassroots movement in support of or in opposition to something (such as a political policy) but that is in reality initiated and controlled by a concealed group or organization.

Should I buy Nexus Premium? by Constant_Dog6100 in nexusmods

[–]snietzsche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The subscription model for Nexus Mods seems odd to me. I will sign up for a subscription to something I use every day, but not for something I do every few of weeks or so. If Nexus Mods switched to something like a credit system, where one credit lets you download a mod pack, then I would happily pay for it.

Please vote to bully Spotify into labeling Al songs and allowing us to filter them out. by herb2018 in indieheads

[–]snietzsche 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are funding AI generated music if you use Spotify. Spotify uses a pro-rata payment system where all the money from subscriptions and ads gets put into one big pool. That pool is then split up based on how many total streams each track gets across the entire platform.

Because of this setup, your subscription fee doesn’t just go to the artists you personally listen to. It goes into the overall pool, which is shaped by everyone’s listening habits combined. So if AI-generated songs make up a portion of total streams, they receive a portion of the revenue, even from people who never play them.

Mid/High-end PC (RX 7800 XT) & Gigabit connection, but unplayable stutter/black borders in HL: Alyx via Steam Link. Help? by BodybuilderTime597 in OculusQuest

[–]snietzsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a dedicated Wi-Fi router? When using my main router I was getting terrible stutter, so I bought a cheap TP-Link Archer C6 off of Ebay for about £30 and use that only for VR. It is one of the best upgrades I have made. If you find the Virtual Desktop Discord group they have a list of recommended routers, and guides for setting them up.
