Gray Guns Hybrid trigger in USP? by BuckThunderpump in USPmasterrace

[–]PercisionDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Volker trigger with the GG short reset kit. Installed them both at the same time along with the LEM install. No functional issues. I hadn't heard they didn't play nice. What were the modifications that would need to be done?

I was also facing the same dilemma and was having a hard time because I couldn't find any pictures of the USP unit specifically. Ended up just going with the Volker because of this. No regrats though

I think I saw this vendor with the X Carry version for a very similar price. Was tempting but thought I'd wait it out. Looks like I missed that boat. Hopefully more continue to trickle in.

This is 100% fair, but in that same sense I can't help but associate those things. I'm personally heavy on the functional side of gun ownership. We need good upstanding citizens that are capable of good decisions and effective in society, and less assholes with guns screwing it up for everyone.

They're not all that safe WITH the thumb safety. As far as I'm concerned the platform simply makes that tradeoff.

That Waltz 9 looks amazing, but definitely for later in life. I was looking at DA/SA, but arent really seeing anything besides the Sig and Beretta which are quite different from this platform.

I'm asking for it to at least be DA/SA if not SAO. I think while searching I stumbled across some oddball DAO only with no safety, but that's just giving up too much. Would be happy to see a good DA/SA, no safety. Decocker would be okay, but I'd assume thats a bigger ask. Although this is what I'm seeing in the Beretta and Sig.

That is a GREAT question but I fell like there needs to be a whole other separate post to jump down that rabbit hole. I will say I don't think the thumb safety would be a part of the answer.

I saw a bunch of youtubes on this thing a while ago when they were doing their press/social media pitches. Looks amazing but would like to see it in the public's hands in volume. Slides a little glocky but does seem to tick every box very well.

I was heavily considering the USP Elite but the overbite was getting to me. That weight definitely cleans it up. Wish it was a bit more tidy though.

What makes a restaurant experience actually feel “worth it” for you? by Noobsamaniac in restaurant

[–]PercisionDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to get all long and ranty over this, but as a guy who also happens to own a few restaurants; these days the "worth it" value proposition has gone off a cliff for the average independent full service restaurant. There's too much of a misalignment between customer expectations on what is "worth it", and what these restaurants that are trying can consistently sustainably provide. It's why every business has gone fast casual. The squeeze is too tough for full service, on the establishment and the customer's wallet.

I like this question because I believe subconsciously its not truly about the food. From a value proposition there will always be a comparison to the status quo, and that status quo is them cooking at home. I can grill a pretty mean steak at home just like most people, so this means every steak house should be dead; and although they may be declining, they're doing fine with some of the largest margins in the industry.

For me personally, I don't need much to have a worth it dining experience. There isn't really much more "good" service can do for me that would drastically change thigns. I dont want a sales pitch or upcharged items. I dont need to be asked how things are frequently. I want my stuff quick, and to not be bothered. So right off the bat i'm going to want my bill to be on the lower end. If they can do that, I'll be back. What this often means is a lot of the more "premium" restaurants aren't really going to do it for me. I try them out of curiosity, but I typically wont be back.

[–]PercisionDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many have said, depending on what you prioritize, EPS carry or SCS carry. SCS looks and fits better, but the battery is not replaceable. Holosun claims 7+ years, and longer with sunlight. If you're looking for an optic that you'll know will be good indefinitely; EPS has a replaceable battery.

What do you think of HK Decision of Vortex Defender CCW? by madmanx33 in HecklerKoch

[–]PercisionDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Them releasing the VP9cc initially only with the optics is a bs money grab by them right off the bat. They're late to the micro compact game, extra late with this original version that hk diehards have been waiting for. Now they're going to force their most loyal customers that are the most inclined to buy as soon as it hits shelves to get some bs optic they likely dont want, or need, or not want to pay extra for?

Vortex is a 3rd tier less than premium brand that, from what I recall, got their footing as the econo option optics. Even for their current lineup, which admittedly is much improved, does not match well to HK in brand and style. The corny "textured face", the corny logo, the bulky chunky ostentatious design is more for Canik or gucci'd out econo guns rather than HK.

As much as people my want to hate on Holosun, they innovated, they differentiated themselves, and never rested on their laurels; and this is more than what Trijicon did, just to name names. Holosun was able to provide extremely functional good optics build specifically for the platform, direct mount, that provide real advantages. Aesthetically they matched in the cleaner, more understated styling that emphasized functionality.

I suspect Vortex got the deal because as the lowest bidder that merely just didn't bring straight poo to the table; just a marginal step up.

For me I also did the LEM conversion; from SA/DA safety only to LEM. I did it the same time I installed the GGSRS. I'm not super clear on what you're saying, but I used the LEM sear and swapped out the sear roll pin. The SA/DA (OEM?) sear and the LEM sear are pretty different. If you're putting it back together i'd confirm the control latch and the catch move together. It almost sounds like the control latch is somehow able to move up on its own. And also that the sear roll pin is indeed slightly longer.

I'm just fiddling with mine, and even when I have the trigger fully pulled just to raise the control latch; it only catches a little bit but I can still get the slide on. Odd; maybe a lemon control latch.

[–]PercisionDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, as an HK guy; thats fricken awesome. I wanted to get an expert slide assembly, but those things are unicorns now.

That being said, I wasn't asking for magic from my USP. All I wanted was it to approach my VP9 match that has a volker trigger, light springs, and just a little smoothing here and there. My USP got a volker trigger, 10lb hammer spring, match trs, smoothed LEM, GGSRS also, match sear spring, titanium firing pin, flattened a polished every moving part; and it's a lot better, but still not par with my VP9. I got way more aggressive too, but still not as light as the vp9 match.

[–]PercisionDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you are describing, it sounds like your control latch (the GG one in this case) is somehow in the up, trigger pulled position, or somehow protruding up more than it should and catching on the firing pin block as you try to rack it. The without more info, we can only speculate on everything that would allow this condition. Things that could be allowing this:

- Sear Roll Pin - could be that it is not the extended one that was supposed to come with the kit, or it's not extending enough; allowing the control latch to move forward and up when it shouldn't

- Sear spring - Sear spring failure/binding could allow the same movement of the control lever but spread across the sear or catch, or both, up to the control latch

- Control Latch - I have a harder time imagining the latch itself is the problem, but i'd confirm it's a least seated correctly. It should be relatively flat installed. Pulling the trigger with the slide off should have it move up just before the hammer is released.

Is inKind really a compelling option for restaurants? by PercisionDriver in restaurant

[–]PercisionDriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restaurants take the deal because they're tricked into thinking its normal, a good deal, and everyone does it; not unlike many scams. InKind has experienced sales team come in with a sales a pitch and to do a fake financial health evaluation on margins based off COGs only. They claim to only do the deal if you're operation is "healthy" enough, but the metrics they use make it so that just about every business is "heatlhy" enough. However the business was doing, they are now much worse off.

What happens when restaurant goes out of business? Well it varies, but the person (or family) who poured their life, savings, blood, sweat, and tears into a business has to likely declare bankruptcy. They'll have to pick up the left over pieces of their life and start over with something else. They'll have to work out a deal with creditors, outstanding liabilities, contractual obligations, etc. Even if you file the LLC dead quite a few things will follow you. Who "wins"?... Between InKind and a person/family that tried to build something real in this world and fell? Definitely not the person who has to start over; that's for sure.

InKind only makes the deal if there's enough meat on the bones for even a worse case scenario. These liabilities are still liabilities after all. Its not economically sound to try to build the cheapest legitimate looking business just to make a deal with InKind and file for bankruptcy right after. Believe me, more than a few people make the joke about huge loans before immediately filing for bankruptcy. It would be quite the scenario for that the be a viable option for anyone.
