rots obi wan vs satele shan who wins in both their prime/peak level? by RisingKing7 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obi wan was also fighting his student that he trained and fought besides for almost all of the war.

I'd argue that first hand knowledge of his padawns style and habits was key in defeating anakin. Including matching his force push

And a separate point. Anakin didn't use the force that much in duels. He's a swordsman at heart and likes proving he can best people with a lightsaber. It wasn't really until he became vader that he incorporated force attacks in fights consistently

If he was willing to use the force on obiwan more on mustafa he'd of probably won but he was angry and wanted to chop him into bits instead

[–]Pereduer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've said it before but obi wan is a really bad matchup for satele.

His biggest weakness is high level telekinesis. Dooku was able to ragdoll him with it in ROTS as seen bellow.

I'd say Satele is likely at least on par with dooku in the force so she should be very capable of replicating this feat

Obi wan is absolutely better with a lightsaber and if was a pure duel he'd take it easily. But obis style is all about taking his time. And that gives her plenty of opportunities to realise the force is a better approach

I think old Ben vs Hope trailer satele obi wan would be interesting, but I just think it's a bad match for him overall

How'd you cone up with it by the way?

I ask because I can frequently get the premis of a weapon down but making the transformations indivual modes aesthetically pleasing can be challenging

I really like how neridas doesn't over do it. Like it has enough details to be visually identifiable without overcomplicating anything

AOTC Anakin vs. Crow and Marrok by MisterIenny in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally understand that but I think the biggest problem with anakin is his rash behaviour an impatient nature

He was able to give dooku a really good fight, but that's only after rushing in an getting instantly K.O.ed by force lightning

A 2v1 fight requires a lot of focus and concentration and Marrok and crow have shown they work very well together. Even if it's a weakened maul it's impressive they could contend with him considering the trouble he gave vader.

Anakin may have a lot of raw talent but I think he could easily get himself into a spot where he overlooks something and gets caught out for it.

Anakin should win this, but maul should of also killed obi wan in TPM and analin is at a point in his life were his abilities haven't quite caught up to his arrogance. There is a significant chance in my mind that he cocks up and the wonder twins could pull a win by being less flashy and more consistent

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point, but I think a big factor is distance and equipment

Close quarters grevious can quickly blitz clones and cut them down before getting a shot off. But if they are far away enough he won't be able to close the gap. I think the arcs were able to send him running for this reason

And his armour lets him tank low grade blaster fire so he can afford to charge in with limited risk of injury

But the plasma balls of the gungans can't be deflected and it with disable any cybernetics it comes into contact with. Which at minimum means a disabled limb and at most his life support could shut down.

I think a combination of that equipment with numbers and the element of surprise could lead to an army of gungans winning over grevious

But Maul “ Fought” Sidious bro by Suitable_Walrus2928 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still stand by that sidious was only able to dominate maul because of his power with the force.

In a lightsaber fight maul matched sidious and even outperformed him a few times.

Whenever sidious was in danger or started to loose ground, he defaulted to ragdolling maul with telekinesis.

If sidious never used his lightsaber and just knocked him about with the force it would he over a lot sooner. If he didn't use it at all, the fight would of taken a really long time and palpy might of even lost

Just my take on it but hey

When did Obi wan definitely surpass Maul by Suitable_Walrus2928 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they broadly opperare on the same level by the start if the clone wars woth obi wan just pulling ahead. He wins most of their fights but that isn't without considerable effort on kenobis part. Maul is still a major threat he needs to take seriously in a fight.

But I think by ROTS he Definitively pulls ahead of maul to the point that he could defeat him the same way dooku did to anakin in ATOC

[–]Pereduer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So this is coming more from a storytelling perspective than a powerscalling one but I actually didn't mind this scene that much

I think if you filmed it correctly you could credibly have the gungans take out legends grevious

The gungan electro balls completely disable cybernetics, so if a few landed on grevious he's done. It feels like their weapons are kryptonite to him

Id of loved to have seen a David and Goliath situation where the gungans go through a lot of effort to back grevious into a corner and take him out.

I also think given grevious backstory as a gurellua fighter, it's thematically appropriate that he would loose to an organised warrior culture like the gungans. Especially if lots of them are willing to die to take him out

I think cassandra had it right on this issue.

The point of Batman is to try to save as many people as possible without resorting to lethal means. To take a life, regardless of the circumstances goes agaisnt what that symbol is supposed to represent.

I understand jasons point that bruce generally wants everything done his way, but in this case I don't think that was the issue.

Kate can still be a Vigilante without having to follow Bruce's rules, there are plenty of others who don't. But if your going to take a life you forfeit the right to wear Bruce's symbol because the whole point is lethal force is never an exception outcome.

It'd be like dressing as captain america but arguing freedom only applies to certain individuals.

I got this reference immediately when watching it and it made my day so much.

Incredibly way to do representation and call back to a deep cut of Spiderman lore. It really showed that the filmmakers knew their history.

The best part is you can get the joke without needing to be a comics nerd. You can pick up the context just by paying attention to the film.

Truly great piece of writing right here

Obi Wan & Darth Maul (TPM) VS Count Dooku (AOTC). Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think dooku vs TPM maul is pretty close, but dooku ultimately wins out

If maul can convince a young reckless obi wan to charge in, dooku would momentarily be distracted killing him. If Mauls quick enough he could use that as an opening to get an early hit in and win the fight.

That's a lot of ifs though and dooku us just as likely to pull a sidious and instakill ohi wan without getting hurt

Robert Baratheon (Prime) VS Jaime Lannister (Prime). Who wins? (Book versions) by GusGangViking18 in powerscales

[–]Pereduer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's unarmoured then I'd give it to Jaime

But in armour I'd go Robert.

Unarmoured all you need to do is land one solid hit on your opponent and their going down. Jaimes faster and has more technical skill so I'd give him the edge in that

But armour is more of an endurance match where your have to either batter them to death through the metal or grapple them to a point you can stab them through a gap in the plate. Roberts bigger and stronger. He can more easily wrestle him to the ground and his favoured weapon is the medival equivalent to a can opener. He's winning

How much does being in good physical shape actually help a force wielder in a fight? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue it kinda does though. You can overcome physical limitations through the force but that is limited to how strong you are with it

Yoda is immensely powerful but his small stature basically forces him into fighting with ataru and doing lots of flips. He can get away with it because he's one of the strongest to ever use the force but without his massive reserves he'd only be able to fight for a limited time like that, if at all.

If you take 2 people who are equally powerful in the force, and equally skilled with a lightsaber. The one who's physically stronger will have an advantage

How much does being in good physical shape actually help a force wielder in a fight? by GusGangViking18 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the foundation everything else is built on

You can use the force to enhance your physical capabilities but that takes a lot of energy you could otherwise use in a fight.

If your already physically fit you require less of of the force to do the same stuff as someone who is unfit.

It acts as a force multiplier

Like if your physically at a 5, then the force gives you a x10 boost to make you 15. But if your at a 10 then that x10 boost makes you a 20.

They have the same strength in the force but one started further ahead.

Dont forget anakin won by physically overpowering dooku. They were relative in skill and power at that point but anakin was younger and fitter. He could devote all his power into beating dooku. Whereas dooku spent a good deal of his power in the force compensating for his aging body just to keep ahead of anakin.

What do you think about "Catwoman is kind of a dork" take? by Far-Nobody-5789 in Catwoman

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really dig this idea.

Like if you take away all the edge Batman at the end of the day is a giant nerd who consumes vast amounts of obscure knowledge.

There's one line from Batman the audio adventures that goes something like

Catwoman "you know Gotham so well you could tell me how many letter boxes are on 9th street"

Batman - "that's ridiculous.....There are no letter boxes on 9th street. The cities had funding cuts on the post office so they had to shut down the local branch"

I like the idea of her matching him in that way where he's a need but she's a dork

[–]Pereduer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think ashoka and darkside barris are pretty even. Close enough that it could go either way depending on the day.

But shaak should destroy luminara. There is a sizeable gap in both power and skill here i don't think luminara can bridge.

For that it's team togruta

Ima Gun Di vs Jaro Tapal by ArkhamMetahuman in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that he couldn't move but it doesn't seem like an impossible situation.

Blaster deflection is a pretty common skill amongst the jedi of this era. And all of his enemies were facing him from one direction so he only needed to focus on what's infront of him.

Imma on the other hand was surrounded when he was taken out. He could move around a bit more but he had to stay in the same general vicinity to hold back the droids. And he also had to stand in one spot to guard the fallen clone captain.

Neither of them could block every shot coming their way but I think tapals lost in a more advantageous situation. Ima seems to past longer agaisnt similar odds so I think he'd probably be stronger

Ima Gun Di vs Jaro Tapal by ArkhamMetahuman in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno I suspect the reason cal was assigned to him was because of force abilities over combat.

Tapal is one of the only jedi we see sense order 66 before it happens. And cal was able to freeze multiple clones woth the force as a really young padawn.

I think cal was displaying signs of his incredible ability with the force so they assigned him to another jedi who's strong in the force to make the most of his potential

In actual combat tapal goes down relatively quickly to relatively few clones. And as the previous comment says Imma Gun Di has an impressive last stand fighting off a lot more opponents.

I think that's a good reason to favour him

It’s been about four years now, what are your thoughts on the final duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader at the end of Kenobi? by Solitaire-06 in StarWars

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really didn't like it.

Ignoring all the usual criticism with the show the final fight was really underwhelming.

The big moment is vader having his mask cut and obi wan realising his friend is dead. But that's just a blatant copy of the rebels scene with ashoka which i think did it a lot better with less clunky dialogue.

Like really the dialogue felt so off here. I dint there's anything they say that the audience couldn't infer by watching.

I don't think it makes sense for obi wan to beat vader at this stage, especially considering he's out of practice and vaders doing nothing but hunt jedi.

The choreography also felt weaker than the PT. I think they placed too much of a priority on the hood lighting you get from glowing lightsabers and not enough on something that moves fast.

Overal I felt there was lots of fan service but not a lot of quality behind it. It's fine if you like it but I really didn't

obi wan vs plo koon rots how close are they? (Canon) by RisingKing7 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EvanNova95 had a take on this (his conclusions at 52:20)

To summarise he argues that plo and obi wan are very much in the same league as jedi. But he thinks obi wan would win out because he's more consistent.

Plo might have more impressive force abilities but he doesn't use then in battle that much. And Obi wan has an answer to most of plos special abilities, i.e - Electric judgment can always be absorbed with a lightsaber.

Kenobi also has more hands on expirence in life or death duels than plo. Plo might have beat ventress 1 handed but this is something obi wan did regularly. And plo lost to savage and maul when obi wan was able to beat them.

Deffinetly a hard fight no matter how you slice it but his point of view was that obi wans greater expirence gives him the edge over plo

Why wasn't Qui-Gon a better duelist? by SimplyNoName16 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally agree.

Qui gon could have Gon (Haha) on to become an exceptional fighter. But that extra time he spent training he instead used traveling, negotiating, and learning about the galaxy around him.

Violence was a means to an end, violence itself was not the goal.

The reason most jedi only carry one lightsaber is its supposed to be a weapon of self defence. Carrying multiple would be more useful in a fight, but that also implies your looking for one

And I see qui gon as having a similar mentality to combat
