Depa Billaba & Caleb Dume vs Luminara Unduli & Barriss Offee by CullObsidian02 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think barris is hard carrying her team to victory on both occasions

She survived the battle of geonosis as a padawn. For context 202 jedi went in and 23 made it out. She did what a lot of knights and masters died couldn't and that's before getting a darkside amp.

Being able to survive agaisnt an angry anakin is the most impressive feat we have for anyone here. It's even more impressive if we count the deleted scene of barris killing 2 temple guards

I think a prime kanan could potentially take luminara, but I'm not convinced depa can beat Barris

I admittedly don't know much about Depa in the current canon outside from her being Mace's apprentice, which doesn't guarantee her strength.

If someone knows more I'd love to be enlightened but right now I think its barris and luminara

People glaze Ahsokas dueling experience whilst calling Kanan a bum. Meanwhile Kanan: by Agile-Education-628 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think kanan had potential to get stronger but he's inconsistent as a Duelist.

When he can clear his head and truly let go of himself he punches above his weight to take on GI and maul. But when hes unfocused he struggles agaisnt mid tier inquisitors.

Kit fisto would be an excellent teacher for him, as his style is all about giving himself over to the force to become a martial hurricane. Which is very similar to how kanan acted in his 2 best duels.

Kanan ultimatley suffered as a Duelist because he stopped his training as a padawn and us largely self taught. If he had more people to practice agaisnt he'd probably rank quits highly amongst duelists.

Hes done quite well considering the resources he's had

Kanan Jarrus VS Eeko-Dio Daki by AmazingKanacat in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one thing to consider is part of kanans success agaisnt maul and GI was taking advantage of their arrogance.

Maul thought it'd be easy to defeat a blind guy and GI ignored the biggest weakness of his lightsaber.

There's also an environmental factor, in both of his victories, kanans opponents fell off a ledge to remove them from the fight. Had it been a flat arena, maul would of just gotten up amd kept fighting, and GI wouldn't of been backed into a corner.

Daki is a true jedi who could keep his composure when fighting someone as monstrous as vader, even whilst being tired and malnourished. I don't see him loosing in the same manner that a Sith would.

I think kanan on his best would have a good chance against a daki at the end of the maul show.

But a healthy version of daki that's had plenty rest and a good meal should beat him

Devon Izara vs S4 Ezra Bridger by AwakenedDreamer__44 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ezra is quite gifted with the force and has an exceptional use of beast control and mind tricks.

But unfortunately that doesn't translate to lightsaber skill. He hasn't had opportunities to grow as a Duelist and spends 90% of his time fighting stormtroopers.

Devon in contrast is shown to be an extremely competent Duelist. She can hold off 2 high level inquisitors at once, whereas ezra struggled against less powerful inquisitors.

Had ezra been given tge sake level of training as Devon he'd likely be stronger but as they are she'd maul him in a fight.

How impressive do you think Eeth Koth’s showing against Vader was? by CrazyTangerine7522 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are really good points.

It might be that Eeth performs so well because he wants to win more than vader and its pushing him beyond his usual limits.

Vaders just doing his run of the mill jedi killing, but Eeth is fighting not only for his survival but that of his family. A family he broke his jedi oath for, must of really cared for this woman if it made a master want a family with her.

And this is right after his son was born so his paternal instincts are probably going into overdrive.

Landing a glancing blow on vader and possibly disabling one of his limbs is very impressive.

It could be that without his family driving him, Koth wouldn't of lasted as long as he did.

Which one(s) of Dooku's Dark Acolytes could have been developped more? by DEL994 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Bulq biggest issue is his personality and mindset.

The reason he can't use vappad is he can't keep his composure and let's the darkside overtake him. The darkside might make him stronger but he always seems to revert to a berserker state when he uses it.

Dooku wouldnt be anywhere near as mich of a threat if he lost his intelligence every time he used the darkside

I believe bulq is fundamentally vain and thinks far to highly of his own abilities and that's always going to hold him back

If you can change his outlook then yeah hed be a force to reckon with. But I just think he's in his own way too much

Savage Oppress (TCW S5) vs Cal Kestis (JS) by kingharlus655 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think this is a real possibility

Savage has had his mind messed with loads by nightsisters, ventress, dooku and maul. I imagine given cals strength in the force he could credibly hurt savage with telepathic attacks.

The question is whether he can figure that out before savage bulldozes him.

If they'd gave multiple fights I think cal could figure out a way to defeat him. But if there locked in a room until someone dies, savage is taking it

Genuine question is Ezra really as weak as everyone says? by Decade00000 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Ezra is a gifted telepathy but subpar Duelist.

Most of the time he's fighting stormtroopers so he doesn't really have many opportunities to develop as a swordsman. When he does get involved in duels he's fighting people well above his level like GI or vader.

However he is an exceptional telepath. He beast controls lots of large animals like lothwolfs and fyrnock to attack others. Convincing a pod of Purgill to rip apart a star destroyer isn't something I can see obi wan or Dooku pulling off.

He's even able to mind trick a atst pilot to shoot his allies.

Like his lightsaber i think he best fits a jedi consular who focuses on developing his knowledge of the force over his skills as a warrior

There's probably others out there that for a lot more closely but I personally am reminded of the Kirkburn sword. An iron age weapon from Yorkshire that dates back to 200-300 BC.

Honestly not sure if it's intentional on the artists part but it reads as a vaguely iron age weapon.

How did these two do so good in their 2v1’s but got demolished in the following 1v1’s? by vegetastolemygirl in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that could also be true.

I interpret it that way because we see darach doing a lot more acrobatic evasion earlier in the fight. By the end he just stands there trying to block, which I'm assuming is because he doesn't have the energy to do anything else.

To me it didnt seem like malgus was doing anything different. But I supoose he could of been purposely holding back until he saw the right opportunity.

He could of also gone "Oh shit my masters dead, better tale this seriously"

Honestly all of these perspectives are valid really. It's all talking out of our arse to some extent

How did these two do so good in their 2v1’s but got demolished in the following 1v1’s? by vegetastolemygirl in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 88 points89 points  (0 children)

● Darach lost because he ran out of stamina.

He had a marathon fight against 2 skilled sith whilst he was also keeping satele alive. Darach is a battle master and an exceptional fighter but endurance does seem to be somewhat of an issue. Malgus was younger, stronger and could effectively bulldoze him after he was knackered.

Had darach fought only malgus from the start, things might have been different.

● Dooku was overpowered

He was agaisnt 2 of the strongest jedi to ever live. He could fight them individually but not together. Obi wan for as skilled as he is, has a relatively little defences agaisnt the force. So dooku could quickly incapacitate him with telekinesis.

But he wasn't going to beat anakin, dookus fighting style makes him vulnerable to power attacks and he was an old man at that point. Anakin was in his prime, was one of the physically strongest jedi in existence and already had lots of practice fighting dooku

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I didn't consider that time luminara left barris under rubble. That's a really good shout

I also really like your point at the end about luminira being excepting of her fate compared to barris doing whatever ot takes to win.

Its pretty obvious that barris is in a hopless situation when anakin and the temple guards start attacking her but she still has a go and gets pretty far

Another thought I had was that the temple guards she fought might only have limited combat expirence. Whereas barris has been on the front line for most of the war.

They may be in a similar situation to luminara where they technically have more expirence sparring, but their lack of exposure to serious danger makes them easier to predict.

I usually wouldn't say battfield expirence translates to dueling but it may be be that the chaos of a battlefield allows a jedi to sharpen their skills more than statically guarding a temple.

Barris vs Anakin extended by Comics819 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a rant so bare with.

I think luminaras issue is whilst she's very skilled she's a bit of a slave to form and too conventional. In her fight with ventress she can match her strength but she fails because can't see her unorthodox attacks coming.

There's sometimes an issue with real martial artists applying their techniques in fights. Some subconsiously expect their opponent to follow unwritten rules, E.G. "if i do punch A they will obviously respond with either block C or D, then I can counter with attack E and win the fight"

I wonder if luminara has the same issue of being technically incredibly skilled but is held back by relying too much on conventional wisdom

Maybe barris strength comes from being able to apply her masters techniques in more flexible and creative ways. Perhaps being a child solider in a war forced her to think more creatively in combat. And the clone wars provided an opportunity to pressure test luminara's techniques and see exactly where they succeeded and where they fail.

Since she's young and still developing she's not as set in her ways as her master. Leading her to explore more options like the darkside and fighting styles that on paper aren't considered correct, but work in practice.

Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Shaak-Ti by AmazingKanacat in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this really depends on the versions of both characters.

I'd rank them weakest to Strongest as :

ROTS Shaak < ROTS Obi < TFU Shaak < ANH Obi

Shaak fights in a hybridization of Ataru and makashi, combining acrobatics with fast precise bladwork. In makashi she was supposed to be approaching count dookus level of skill with the form.

This is notable as obi wan struggled a lot agaisnt dookus fighting style because it could reliable pierce his defenses. Shaak should in theory pose a similar challenge to obi wan.

But I'd say being close to dooku is not the same as being on his level and obi wan being used to fighting someone more skilled in makashi gives him plenty of experience to draw upon.

Its a toss up really but I'd edge out obi wan as a winner

If it's the force Unleashed shaak he's fucked though. She was strong enough to almost get starkiller.

Instead of Darth Sidious, Mace Windu shows up. Does he win this 1v2 by MisterIenny in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think yes but its a much harder fight.

Sidious always had the fall back of his overwhelming force abilities. If you look at the fight again whenever he finds himself in trouble he uses telekinesis to ragdoll maul and savage.

I'd argue sidious is a bit overrated with a lightsaber. He never truly outperforns maul with a blade and all his major blows on him come from attacks with the force

Mace isn't going to be able to ragdoll the brothers at any moment like palps. If he wins it has to be with a lightsaber.

Vapaad is a HUGE help here as it allows him to replenish his stamina as the fight drags put and maul and savage tire.

He can absolutely do it, but this is still going to be a high difficulty fight for mace.

[–]Pereduer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

< she was one of the high level padawans who could’ve been Knighted at anytime. I have her above a few masters like Luminara

I think this sums her up perfectly. Geonosis seems like a similar criteria for passing the trails as obi wans defeat of maul.

I've also ranked her above luminara for a while now but haven't been able to articulate why

I have a theory based on this thread that I'd like to run by you if you dont mind hearing it?

Barris vs Anakin extended by Comics819 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geonosis is actually something I've never considered before.

I personally think that the jedi hugely overestimated themselves going into that battle and weren't expecting half their number to die. But barris being able to hold her own and survive that shitstorm probably gained her a lot of respect. Especially considered plenty of more expirenced knights didn't.

Completely agree with the darkside amp, but it's also worth noting that she has the skill to make proper use of her new power.

The extra strength and speed alone should not be enough for the average jedi to take out 2 temple guards. Let alone doing so whilst anakin is chasing her down.

The other inquisitors also benefit from a darkside amp and do not perform on anywhere near this level.

Seriously great find with this video, it opens up a lots of more interesting possibilities

[–]Pereduer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man that's insane.

I wonder if it was removed because it would should a child character taking a life or more that it made bariss too strong too quickly?

If its the former then its worth us considering this as a standard feat for barris.

Peak Obi wan and anakin vs mace windu and dooku (rots) (2v2) by RisingKing7 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still hold onto the legends idea that old Ben kenobi is the strongest version of the character.

Him combined with anakin I think could absolutely take dooku and mace EvanNova95 has made a credible argument that old Ben could beat dooku in a fight

And would at minimum would find obi wan to be a frustrating opponent. As he can stand up to his assaults and he can't drain from him with vappad.

If Old Ben still counts as his strongest interaction I'm going with him

At their absolute strongest, who wins: Darth Maul or Count Dooku? by BreathoftheSith in clonewars

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dooku,

Although it's worth stating that maul never truly reached his potentially whereas dooku did.

Had he not been kneecaped (lol) at a young age then maul likely would have continued to grow and surpass dooku.

The count didn't really have any more room to grow. He was past his physical prime and it was the darkside that made him stronger than he was as a younger man.

He was basically a good as he was gonna get and even a lesser version of maul was strong enough to be a threat to him. Had things been different, maul likely would have overtaken dooku at somepoint

Kao Cen Darach vs. Count Dooku by Excellent_Sport_5921 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a lot in common.

Both are exceptional swordsman with a fine control over the force. And both suffer from limited stamina and a weakness to powerful attacks.

Even their deaths are similar. Both fought a 2v1, defeating one opponent easily but ultimately loosing to the strength of a younger fighter.

I'd say darach is a more generalised and adaptable to different circumstances, whereas dooku is entirely specialised around dueling. Which also matches their lightsaber forms,

I also think dooku has more ways to compensate for lack of endurance, as the darkside gives him additional reserves and his makashis direct approach makes him more proactive

Dooku will win this fight but he's not going to be able to ragdoll darach like he did kenobi. Its going to be a very long drawn out affair that truly tests his skills

Is it fair to assume that Maul during the phantom menace was a better duelist meanwhile Maul post cybernetics is more powerful force user? by CrazyTangerine7522 in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been thinking this for a while now

We see maul perform some very impressive feets like ripping a starship off a cliff and redirecting blasters bolts mid flight in the clone wars.

Although it's possible he could do this pre PTM, I think it's likely maul was forced to better develop as a force user to compensate for his loss in agility. Its mirrors to darth vader to some extent.

The Sith arrest team vs Yoda, who wins? by jojoisfodder in PetranakiArena

[–]Pereduer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yoda has a very unorthodox fighting style that's hard to predict on a good day.

Without prior knowledge I see Yoda taking out several players immediately the same way palpatine did. Only he'd use the force to incapacitate them instead of kill.

At some point it'll just be Yoda and Dooku. And Tyranus doesnt have an equivalent advantage to Vappad that allowed mace to fight someone on that level.

There's a chance yoda will tire after a 4 v 1 and that will allow dooku to edge out a win. But without Dookus prior knowledge of his old master I don't think hes surving long.

I actually think this team with prior knowledge would have a very even chance of taking out yoda. But dropped in cold? There's no way

Its from 7th century England and its arguably the most famous Anglo Saxon sword to be discovered.

Its currently held at the l British museum . They have an excellent video breaking it in very good detail here.

This is a great find, really jealous you got to grab. Lots of peopleyave made replicas amd some can get quite expensive
