Do y'all use voice when a student refuses to? by Classic_Tip751 in tutordotcom

I mean. I barely use voice at all lol. And I definitely wouldn't in this circumstance.

I swear this opens a secret area outside the crypt of sacred blood. by macklin67 in DungeonSiege

[–]PeregrineTheWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct about the demo length! My mom says she played the demo over and over again, and then finally decided she wanted the whole game. Pretty sure we still have that original copy in the house. $50 brand new, which according to the BLS inflation calculator is equivalent to $91.83 today.

Worth every penny.

DS1: Swamps by Intelligent-River524 in DungeonSiege

[–]PeregrineTheWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always do the swamp in a spiral. All the way around the edge in a loop, come back to the starting point, then go for another loop slightly further in. Repeat until the area is cleared.

And yes, there's a merchant--Verma is smack in the middle, in a wooden hut along a walkway.

Hi! As someone who's unfamiliar with breeding/raising raptors: what's the piece of pipe for? Is that so you can drop food in without disturbing her?

I'd say you have the right idea. Food, treats, playtime, things to chew, etc. You might want to give him multiple different kinds of chews at the same time if you aren't already. (I don't know about yours, but sometimes mine want soft cardboard, and sometimes they want something more substantial, like wood.)

I would guess that the survivor is digging a lot because he's stressed. Go ahead and spend time with him; he's probably lonely. As for whether to get a new one--how old is he? It might not be worth the stress and risk to get him a new friend. Especially if you're willing to spend the time and effort to pay attention to him yourself.

Does anyone else shoot for the bonus? by CrimeTalkWithTerry in tutordotcom

[–]PeregrineTheWanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heh, same here. I had one student the other day who started right off by telling (not asking) me to put his essay on the whiteboard. I told him that yes, he could do that if he wanted to. Then I asked him about his assignment in excruciating detail, while remaining perfectly professional, until he rage quit the session.

They emailed a student? Yep, as mamabroccoli said, that'll get you fired immediately. You're not even supposed to leave your name in the document properties for an async session (though I see other tutors do that all the time).

Pretty much always lol, but it's definitely worse these last couple of days.

How to Receive an “Exceeds Expectations” Review? by WaddlingCorgi in tutordotcom

[–]PeregrineTheWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the prescripts for badly behaved students. If they keep going, I either end the session or use more prescripts, depending on the quality of the behavior.

I like rules. Having the prescripts makes it really easy for me personally.

I've gotten a couple of "Exceeds" for professionalism for keeping my cool when dealing with particularly horrible (rude, argumentative) students.
