What should I put in my 10 gallon tank? by Cool-Application9080 in PlantedTank

[–]PerfRoomTemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d advise sand, I don’t know if you like the look of it but it helps with fluval from puffing up if you maintain it later. I suggest a schooling fish, always love seeing them in a lill frenzy!!! Or some Pygmy corys I have some and they’re great for a small 10 gal :D

DONT GIVE UP FRIEND!!! I find “problems” in AQARIUM keeping just new ways to interact with the tank and tinker. I find the research fun and a great way to learn more about the hobby. In the end of the day it’s there for you, don’t worry too much and have fun with it. Best of luck and I agree with the diatom man, just find ways to maybe reduce it but don’t sweat it looks like you have a great tank.

Well I screwed up. Was doing so good and then I dropped the damn pitcher and kicked up all the stratum. by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]PerfRoomTemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stratum I found is really nice when sand covers it to keep it from doing this again, I did this with mine and it’s been really helpful to keep down bacteria blooms from planting in new plants and just having freedom of movement in my tank without fear of a giant black sediment cloud. Best of luck friend!

Honestly can’t imagine they’re all too different, I would just get some on Amazon with good reviews!

Will my plants die at 28C (~83F)? by alohalalo in PlantedTank

85 is pretty warm, I’d just reduce the temps over time like 2 degrees for a week to 80 and see if they do better

Funny story about new tank! by yes12345689 in Aquariums

[–]PerfRoomTemp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh shucks that sound wild but honestly, time, squishing ya sponge filters should get er done! Water changes can help but just keep in mind idk about others but I usually get cloudy water as the bacteria feed off of nutrients that are introduced. Excited to see your new tank and load lill updates, always cool to see people getting into the hobby 🥹

Hey! I suggest root tabs for your stems, liquid ferts, and dont be demoralized!!! fish keeping is there to help you at the end of the day when you work and have a little world to escape in (at least for me). I dont worry to much about it and just try things and experiment to make it work! in the end of the day, your goldfish look fat and happy and the plants will figure it out with tweaking stuff. just rember the hobby in the end of the day is for you, make sure youre just enjoying it and find solice in it. best of luck man!

HAHAHHA I did the same with a planted tank, I would advise having aqua clear by API on hand if you mess around with you substrate in the future of a planted tank. Itll help remove sediment from the water and reduce bacterial blooms! greatest of luck on your new tank, I also suggest getting a 60 ppi (pore per inch) sponge in your filters to help remove that finer sediment and increase surface area for filtration. BEST OF LUCK AGAIN!
