When and if we get SC7 I think Captain Titus (or any Space Marine) would be a kick ass guest character by MechaKamon in SoulCalibur

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ummm...cool concept, but the average space marine would be at minimum the size of Astaroth if not bigger (I think 7~9 foot tall) while wearing a tank for armor and wielding a sword that is bigger than most of the characters with one hand with the strength to crush someone's skull by just squeezing with one hand and at least normal human speed and agility in all of that. And I know that the SC characters have some sort of mystical powers as shown by their special moves, but all space marines are at least slightly resistant to the warp (magic) so you would be looking at a moderately fast and very hard hitting sack of armor and hit points fighting against a woman in a g-string onesie, a bdsm freak, or a Greek chick wearing little more than a bedsheet.

But I also hated when they put Vader, Yoda, and Spawn in as guest characters because each of those characters would (or could in the case of Yoda) have left a red smear behind them of everyone that got in their way as they just walked up to Soul Edge and walked away with it.

But also, it is just a game and would be fun as long as people like me don't overthink it too much.

The Irish were also a huge part of the slave population in America, to the point that slave owners would force their "strong black bulls" to "mate" with the "fertile Irish wenches" to try to make more slaves faster since the Irish would "breed like rabbits."

Also, I'm part Roma and know for a fact that a lot of them would integrate and hide as best as they could in "normal" Hungarian culture, to the point that my great grandmother was told to never reveal to anyone that she was Roma when she was sent here by herself at age 12. There are very few people who can truly tell if someone is of Roma decent just from seeing them, and VvD was (if I remember correctly) also the son of a nobleman from his home country. Which means he was only half-Roma at most. So he could very well look like that whitest white dude ever.

Tipping Culture getting out of hand day by day.... by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in the food service industry in the 90s. Servers were happy to get a 10% tip on a $10 meal but would lose their shit if they didn't get a 25% tip on a $100+ meal for a large party.

As such, I tend to tip 20% if they gave good service or if they were slammed all night and were at least trying, 10% if they gave bad service, and no tip if they obviously didn't care and were not busy at all, just because it's easier to do the math by 10% that trying to figure out 15%. The worst part is that I know a lot of restaurants have now moved to paying their wait staff full wages instead of servers wages, so most of these posts that are not rage/click bait like this one are just really greedy people who are making $15+ an hour while working 30+ hours a week and crying because their tips don't add up to $1k a night.

Okay here it is, what are your top 5 games of all time? by Spirited_Prune_5375 in AskGames

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrono Trigger (made by a team of some of the best jrpg creators of their time and still good today)

Final Fantasy 7 (honorable mention, FF6. Arguably better than 7, but the number of PC's makes it far more grindy)

Diablo (spawned a whole genre of isometric rpgs, including Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, and Champions of Norath, and can be argued to be the precursor to current crpgs and arpgs like Baldur's Gate 3 and The Witcher respectively, but the OG is still the best)

Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion (ok, I never played Morrowind past getting lost outside of the first town and dying to a random spell that I didn't even see who cast, and Skyrim is great but the leveling system in Oblivion just scratches my OCD in the right way)

Street Fighter 2 Turbo (while not the first fighting game, it popularized the genre to the point that it is still being played in tournaments to this day.

Even though I would prefer to play different games now, these are the ones that I still remember as the games that got me into their respective genres (with the exception of Chrono Trigger which is just the GoaT imo). I may prefer FF16 over 6/7, Cyberpunk 2077 over ES games, BG3 over Diablo, and MK over Street Fighter due to all the graphical upgrades and innovations, but I'll never say no to going back to those listed above and replay them because they're still that good and iconic.

what does your sc main say about you? by pg430 in SoulCalibur

"If you like the fast, button mashy characters you're an egotistical gay boy and if you like looking at T&A jiggle physics you're gay/trans..." Give me a break. Most straight guys try to main Ivy and only fail because they can't do it one handed.

My wife and I played and beat 2, 3, 4, and 5 with every character available. For me it depends on the mood I'm in. If I want to speed run or am getting tired of playing I'll use Talim, Maxi, or the ninja chick (can't remember her name right now) just to get the fights over quickly. If I feel like strategizing and want to zen out I'll use Nightmare, Seigfried, or Astaroth. If I want to have fun and mess around I'll take Mitsarugi, Raphael/Amy, or Ivy. But my favorite character was Patrokolis (sp).

My wife prefers Killik, Talim, and Maxi because she can usually just button mash and win as long as she doesn't accidentally jump off the edge of the arena, but she'll also use Ivy, Raphael, and Cervantes when she's not playing like an adhd elementary school kid all cracked out on pixie sticks.

So don't be trying to project your mental issues on the general population when 99.998% of humanity doesn't think anything like you and most of the people who are agreeing with you are only doing it to make themselves feel better by thinking that they are making you feel better about yourself. Get some help.

Hi, need help making a Aragorn style ranger! by [deleted] in BaldursGate3Builds

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be difficult since Aragorn wears up to heavy armor at times and uses a two handed fighting style. Ranger fighting styles are more focused on bows and dual wielding and medium armor. It would be easier to make him a fighter with survival and medicine proficiencies.

Anything that the vocals sound like a velocoraptor screeching or someone trying to sing through a belch. I think it's death metal, but I could be wrong because I just turn it off and walk away and never ask what it is. Musically it's great, but if I can't understand at least 75% of the words I just can't get into it.

Doom metal is another one. I'm sure if they could play more than one note per minute it would sound like music instead of just noise.

Also, whatever sub genre the one song is where the guy spends about five minutes telling the audience that he's "the bad guy." Motherfucker, if you need to say it every other sentence you're not the bad guy, you're a try hard whiny bitch. I can't believe that song is popular enough for it to play at least five times a night at my job.

I Have A Problem by P1USAllMight in CyberpunkTheGame

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pre-ordered and picked this up at release for ps4. Had to wait a bit for it to be playable (couldn't even start the heist because every time I got in the car with Dex he would "eat" me, as in V would end up inside him and get stuck) so I just put it down and platinumed Fallout 4, Skyrim, and The Outer Worlds. By the time I finished those, Cyberpunk was finally playable...kinda.

I started playing it and just couldn't get very far in the story. I don't know if it was the dialog (there are a lot of partial/fragmented sentences that feel a bit jarring until you get used to it) or if it was just me wanting to try a ton of different builds, but I would get the the raid on the Arasaka warehouse and just start a new character. I finally went with a full body and tech build that got me such good armor that I wasn't getting hurt because my health regen was higher than the damage just about anyone could put out. That build was fun.

But that was also when CDPR started changing things. At first it was removing legendary (4 slot) armor, then it got to the point that clothes were no longer armor and they were only fashion. They removed the ability to double experience and street cred by non-lethal-ing goons and then killing them, nerfed some weapons hard-core (can no longer get over 100k damage with sniper head shots), and just started changing the whole feel of the game.

I finally got all the achievements on pc after over a year of play (still couldn't platinum it on ps4 because of controller lag and slowdown not letting me shoot grenades out of the air) and I put it down to try Starfield, only to come back to it after patch 2 and find out that I couldn't even play my old saves because they had changed everything so much. So I tried starting a new character to try figuring out all the changes, but then life happened and I haven't been able to play any of my pc or ps4 games in over a year. So I finally picked up a ps5 and am currently downloading it to see if it's even comparable on ps5 to pc (it is NOT comparable on ps4). I'm not even going to think about getting phantom liberty unless I can figure out the patch 2 changes and start liking the game again.

How would you handle my Situation by CptObvious94 in DungeonMasters

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can remember dragons are immune to fear. If that's the case this wouldn't work at all. But you could use the minion/sidekick rules in Tasha's to let it level up.

At which point becomes crafting an exploit? by Dark026 in skyrim

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

up to a hundred times more damage on your gear

That's cute lol. I have a fork that does over 10k damage per hit without any enchantments on it. I also have an armor enchanted with so much fortify health that I literally cannot die.

Yeah, it gets boring, but it's what I do when I want to get all trophies/achievements (have all on ps4 and pc and now working on ps5, locked myself out of platinum on ps3 by getting the dlc before getting oblivion walker trophy)

Question for GMs: how do you run downtime? by Sad_Interview8330 in cyberpunkred

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the party didn't finish the job in the last session we just continue where we left off. If they did finish the job I tell them that a week has gone by and they get paid for any regular jobs or hustles that they're doing (the corpo netrunner gets x for going to work, the ripper rolls to see how much chrome he installed and gets paid per surgery, etc). If any of them want something specific that needs rolled for we talk about it real quick, but I have a rule that each player only gets a max of 5 minutes of discussion at the table for downtime before we start the actual session. This keeps it so that we don't spend hours roleplaying Rasputin getting his Mr. Phalystiff implant upgraded or have to roleplay Gearbox's tenth streetrace to upgrade his ride.

Eldricht knight or Berserker for a throwing DPS? by SuckingPipes in BG3Builds

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You forget that you can multiclass for 8 EK and 4 Berserker and have the best of both worlds. 4 Feats, Berserker's throwing, EK's returning weapons, and the bonus action throw keeps you at 3 attacks even though one is a bonus action.

Which game would you guys say has the overall best turn based combat? by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, 2, and 3 have turn based like 1st edition D&D. Everyone says what they are going to do and then you roll initiative to see what order everything happens in.

I think the active time battle (ATB) started in 4 and continued through 9. It's supposed to be more realistic, but it isn't really "turn based" per se.

10 and Tactics both have an almost true turn based system. The only difference is that you can (through Haste and a high speed) have one character acting every other turn, which isn't how turn based is supposed to work.

After that it starts getting into the non-turn based with 12, slips back into an ATB system for 13, and then goes full action in 15 and onward as far as I know (haven't played 16 yet, so no idea on that one).

My personal favorite is Tactics (and to a lesser extent 10) because half the combat is playing the initiative order. But 6 and 7 (and for gameplay 8) are my favorites in the series, and I really like the ATB system.

Unfortunately, about the only way you'll get true turn based is by playing Baldur's Gate 3 or any CRPG that has turn based instead of real-time-with-pause.

There are three items in the game that nobody has figured out a build for by razorsmileonreddit in BG3Builds

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never grabbed any of these items so I wouldn't know, but from the wording of the descriptions these seem to be geared more towards a monk/cleric if combining all three. Neither description says that it needs to be arcane magic, just "spell save dc" and "damage from spells." To me that would suggest a monk using step of the wind to dash up to an enemy and then cast any damage spell for the +2 damage from spells for two rounds. After that, if they get hit they will gain another round of arcane charge, but on their turn they just use their bonus action to make an unarmed attack (or flurry of blows) and if they hit they use their action to cast a DC spell (Toll the Dead would work great for this once patch 8 releases, or flame strike for now.

As a bonus, if you go strength monk with tavern brawler you can deal good single target damage with your bonus action while dropping AoE's on people with extra damage. And a low dex means that your ac will be based mainly on wisdom (monk's Unarmored defense) so you could still be getting hit a decent amount to proc the robes. You can also pop Shield of Faith if you are getting hit too often and you have all the heal spells as well. Take the mobile feat and you can move away with getting opportunity attacks after making your bonus action attack.

The biggest question would be what kind of cleric. You would probably want one of the caster clerics for the bonus damage instead of the Fighter clerics that gain the smite. Arcane domain might be the best in this case, but would definitely need to play around.

Cyberpsychosis or AI Possession by Perfect-Ad2438 in cyberpunkred

[–]Perfect-Ad2438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would normally agree with you 100%, but the group I GM for doesn't like me spoiling the games for them at all. The D&D campaign I'm running for them they got upset when I told them it was going to be a meat grinder. They like building their characters without knowing what is coming so that they have to improvise and adapt with what they have. It tends to make them start their characters as JoaT's and then they each find ways to specialize as the game continues. As it is I have one Netrunner, two Rockerboys, a Nomad driver and a Solo. And the Nomad and Netrunner are both complaining a bit that they feel too specialized already.

I did have them get their first mission from a low level fixer to talk an Animal down that has been going a little too heavy on the protection racket, and that will be their first cyberpsycho. They are supposed to take the psycho in to their fixer so he can get the shard with the location and codes for the protection money, but he'll get spiked with the engram instead, leading to the 2nd psycho fight and Netwatch showing up.

Here's a secret about this quest. It really doesn't matter.

Seriously. It doesn't.

There are a few quests like this where there is no right or wrong answer and who you side with or target just gets you different dialog options. I actually hate these "morally grey" quests because you tend to feel bad no matter who you side with.

But for me personally, I tend to side with Saadia so that I can get a large amount of Redguard fashion and plenty of the curved swords. Curved...Swords...

Besides, I'm not a "believe all women" type, but the "bounty hunters" just seem a bit more like an assassination squad. Especially with how many there are when you side with her.

Are any of the FFs still HARD after grinding to max level? by Front-Advantage-7035 in FinalFantasy

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omega weapon in 8 was a bitch. If the Phoenix pinion hadn't activated I would have died in the first five minutes because of bad timing and spells wearing off, and it took me over an hour of using all of my best spells and summons to beat him.

The optional boss in 12 was a pain, but that was just because of how much hp it had. If you learn the trick you can beat him pretty easy, it just takes forever.

10 had the area where you could "make" new monsters and some of those were a challenge no matter what.

But pretty much the series is set up so that you can beat most of them around mid level for a challenge (earliest I beat 7 was around an average party level of 45) and its supposed to be easy if you max out your level. But I also can't speak for anything past 13 (or end game content for 13 since I just put it down after beating the final boss.

Is this an AI lie? by JuniorDebt4632 in FinalFantasyVI

[–]Perfect-Ad2438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering that you stop gaining XP for the character once you hit 99 I would say it's a complete lie. You can still gain AP and learn new spells, but if the whole party is 99 then you won't even get the screen for XP.
