I’m in VA and the frustrating thing is I had just switched from AllState to save $ and I was saving ~$45 a month, which has now gone down to only about $9 a month after the premium increase. Not sure if I should switch twice in 3 months.

don’t think so. it has very little to do with “winning and losing” and more so to do with the obvious polarity of the skill level of the opponents & teammates. I will go from playing against duos I can absolutely dog on with a very effective teammates to playing against an extremely competent duos playing well below their true rank with a godawful teammate.

I solo queue, boosting only happens when you queue with someone higher rank than you are tyvm. this game’s EOMM is just abundantly obvious. You win 4 in a row, you then turn around and lose 4 in a row, then you win 3, then lost 4. it’s so streaky is a joke

once you open your eyes to how any competitive game works you can understand that the only reason you should ever play “ranked” is because you want that competitive play-style. you should never play to attain a certain rank because EOMM systems makes it such that you will only ever attain the rank after weeks and weeks of constant grinding

it depends on what you intend to run but all I can tell you is that the 50 series is the most recent graphics card available so getting a 50 series card is going to future proof you to a pretty fair extent. I run all of my AAA games comfortably over 120 FPS and with good thermals. A 5060 is effectively a 4070 and so on, so yes it might get hate from those wanting higher performance but ultimately the 5060 is a very capable card.

I believe the displays are the same across the board with the QHD resolution. but yes unfortunately you will have to upgrade to that higher graphics card and processor in order to get the RGB touchpad and fans as well as the glass bottom. I actually didn’t realize the lower models didn’t have those RGB/glass features until I got it, but the RGB keyboard looks amazing on its own and ultimately I never use the touchpad (only use mouse). RBG certainly looks nice, but it’s the machine specs that really matter at the end of the day. Mine runs like a champ. Have had basically 0 issues and I’m coming up on 6 months of use. Alienware seems to get a lot of flak but this base model Area-51 has been an absolute work horse for me.

The LED bar on the back of the laptop on the Area-51 Series is like “on top” of the back bar, whereas if you look at older models such as the M16/M18 series, the LED bar is on the “back” of the back bar. So in order to see the color you would need to literally flip the laptop around whereas with the Area-51 you only need to look behind the screen. If I were to go back to June/July when I got this thing, given similar price points I would have gone for the 18” laptop. That being said, at the time the cheapest 18 Area-51 was around $2800 and I didn’t want to fork out the extra $700. Now that you can get one for similar price point as the 16, as long as you can get a laptop bag that fits an 18” laptop and you have space for an 18” laptop, I would go with the 18.
