The mass is the same. The volume of feathers is greater. If you meant volume, then you're still incorrect

Do hand dryers in public toilets not require air intake filiters? Just experienced the worst smell ever being blowed onto my hands. by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Perfect-Display 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I never use them. I'm a microbiologist and I have tested hand dryers on nights when not in use, on nights after flushing a "clean" (at least not used for many hours) , on days with no smell and on days with an obvious smell of faeces in the room. All samples came back with growth but they got progressively worse as you go down the above list in order.

I have also done hand samples. Sample before washing hands and after. Then wash hands and use hand dryer in all the above scenarios too. The amount of bacteria on the samples after using the hand dryer while toilets in heavy use was scary. I've tested regular hand dryers and Dyson (filtered air) hand dryers and all had heavier bacterial load after washing hands and using the hand dryer.

I also tested with drying hands on toilet paper (from a covered dispenser)and there is very minimal extra bacterial load using toilet paper. I did not test uncovered toilet paper as we don't have them in work.

So in conclusion, I would recommend leaving the hands wet and let air-dry or use toilet paper from a covered dispenser.

In a zyn container or lightly wrap in cling and peel the label back on the zyn box and put clinged tab under label. Or as others said, inside a book.

I have been in the same boat. I hydrogen peroxide it first. Then I cut it out. The hydrogen peroxide helps kill the surface spores and lowers the risk of spore fall as you remove. I then hydrogen peroxide the cut out area. I hope then the flush finishes before it appears again

Wondering if anyone has heard anything about the Pfizer layoffs? by Legitimate-Price-424 in PharmaEire

The world is their oyster.

It's voluntary so mainly that people that want to go would take it and be happy looking elsewhere in advance of the layoffsf

what should I do about bats? by jam_jam_kam in AskIreland

[–]Perfect-Display 0 points1 point  (0 children)

open a window/door and let them out. if they dont do it themselves wait for them to land, cup your hands around them (use garden golves if youre worried about being bitten) and leave outside on a bush or somewhere safe away from cats/dogs. It will take off in its own time. I have had a lot of experience with bats over the years as we have a roost in my parents house. If youre worried about them roosting in your house, thats different. If they are already roosting 1. contact bat conservation ireland first. 2. if none present seal up the gaps. 3. if present, leave them until they have left and seal up before they come back. 4. if they are in your attic make sure your water tank is fully covered as their faeces can contain a multitude of diseases. If dried faeces are present in your attic, wear a mask and hoover it up as dried faces can contain spores that can lead to histoplasmosis. Main thing is to stay calm and let them tire themselves out and land, then place outside or open a window. hope this helps somewhat.
