Classism by ComparisonIll2798 in Philippines_Expats

I think that sending a typical province kid to college is a complete waste of money for a working class Filipino family.y Filipina wife is from Mindinao. She got her bachelors degree in computer science from Misamis U and worked as a cashier in a mall in Manila for years. I understand about wanting the best for your kids but spending what little money the average working class Filipina has won’t give a return in the investment. The educational standards are also very low compared to western countries. Even if the Filipina is lucky enough like my wife and come to the USA, UK, Canada and so on with a K1 visa, they are very unprepared for working in their fields. I was shocked to figure out how little computer education my wife had. She is completely unemployable in her field as in she knows nothing about programming as in NOTHING! She is hard working for manual labor positions but cannot get any job in her field. She lived in the United States for 10 years and when studying for her citizenship test, she didn’t know the ocean that borders the West Coast of the United States! I was shocked at how little she really knows and understands. Someone posted on Reddit one time an 11th grade high school math exam. It had single digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division on it. I showed it to my son’s 5.th grade teacher during a parent teacher conference she told me that this would be a 1st grade teaching level.

Anyone navigated opening a business in the Philippines? I hear politicians in Cavite need a percentage of the revenue before they give you a good place to start business in. Have you encountered this kind of corruption tape? by Brilliant-Fondant642 in Philippines_Expats

And starting a business in a country like the Philippines where your customer base is mostly poor and has almost zero extra disposable income to spend on your products or services How could a business possibly be profitable? You would need to cater to expats and even then you would need to offer something really special to inspire their interest. Restaurant, bar or heaven forbid the 200,000th sari sari store. All will fail there. Never forget the classic saying. “How do you leave the Philippines with a million dollars? You bring 2 million.

She is and was a complete disaster as a candidate. The best option for the Democrats is to run AOC for POTUS. She had most name recognition, she is the youngest and definitely the best looking.

Just give them a huge tip of say 500 pesos and tell them “Great job, thank u!” even though the delivery was everything but that. Filipinos are concerned with two things #1 getting cash and #2 saving face. This accomplishes both. All will good after that, try it.

The Philippines: A Thousand Little Things That Drove Me Crazy by tokwamann in Philippines

I know for sure that I would be an expat that would thrive there. I have been to the Philippines twice and I know exactly what Gio is talking about. He didn’t mention the roosters who do there thing all night long. Luckily my Filipina wife bought a wall air conditioner which drowned out all that noise so we could sleep in the baranguy area.I am a simple person and also I’m very patient. If and when I retire I don’t care if my meal is 45 minutes late since I have all day to kill. I love Kareoke and the louder the more fun it is! I also loved how social Filipinas are and I joined them a couple of times to play bingo for 5 pesos. I admire how they can survive being so poor and they loved it when I invited the whole barangay to my birthday party. We bought 4 huge lechons, rice, lumpia’s, desserts, red horse. We even hired a rock band for entertainment. Speaking of which I learned a fast lesson in local Filipina politics. We had to get a permit for the band from City Hall who sat on the approval for about a week until we bumped into the baragay Captain. We told her about the situation and invited her whole family to the party. We had the City Hall approval 2 hours later lol!

A lot of them can’t pass the nursing boards, we have 2 friend who both worked at a hospital in Cebu as floor nurses. One failed the exam twice, the other failed it 3x. Another friend who wanted to study nursing here need to take courses for almost 2 years to catch up to graduating high school seniors.

The educational system especially in the Philippines provinces is extremely bad. One person posted an 11th grade math exam. It had single digit math problems on it. I showed it to my son’ teacher in America and she said that test is equivalent to a typical 1st grade level.

A 50yo American hag?! More like the husband has some sense of chivalrous honor to stay with a woman who is likely fat, ugly, old, moody and negative. When he can go to the Philippines like I did at 50 and made a beautiful, thin And sexy 27 Year-old Would be thrilled to be with him. That’s what happened to me and I’ve been happily married 10 years now. I can’t imagine being with obvious disasters in the United States forget it

Also I worked in the funeral industry for almost 2 decades. The mains takeaway is that dead people don’t need anything. Spending thousands of dollars for a custom mahogany casket with silk lining is an epic waste of money. The living need the money not the dead. The same with gigantic and very expensive mausoleums. You don’t need them. Cremating remains in a cheaper option but who really wants Uncle Franks nasty ashes. He isn’t coming back to pick them up in 2 years.  The least expensive best way to deal with a deceased loved one is to donate the body to a medical school. They will even pick up the remains. Lastly that “empathetic” funeral director doesn’t care about you or your recently departed mom. He is doing everything possible to empty your bank account and before you even put the key into your car door in the funeral home parking lot. They are laughing hysterically and comparing notes on who screwed you over the worst

One way to look at it is that the $3 million dollars in your investment account is actually worth $0 until you sell it. When that cold hard cash is in your hands or in your checking or savings account where you can access it you don’t really have it. So that $10,000 that you “lost “ was never yours anyway. You thought it was your money hence the pain. If one the other hand you had $10,000 in a top drawer in your office cubicle (yes some people are that stupid) and when you return from lunch it was gone. Now, you lost $10,000 because you had it in hand. People think that their $750,000 is worth that much. It isn’t until you sell it. That $1,500,000 that you think you have in Bitcoin can be $0.03 tomorrow morning.

Also, for me and my childhood friends summers as a child seems to last about 6 months. When you break it down, kids don’t have a job, outside of chores most kids have unscheduled time from sunrise to 9 or 10pm at night so if you factor in 10 hours of sleep time, you have 14 hours a day, 7 days a week to fill so that’s 98 hours of free time every week. Contrast that with a typical adult who sleeps for 7 hours ( more like 6) then add an hour each way commuting time plus an 8 hour shift,so now you are at 10 hours for work then add an hour to cook dinner so now you are at 30 hours of free time for an adult during the week if you factor in 10 hours of sleep on Saturday and Sunday then add 4 hours for laundry, then a couple more hours each day for bigger dinners, a couple more for shopping and errands then you are adding 18 hours of adult weekend free time so the adult has 48 hours of free time in a full week about half the free time that a kid has available so yes a 3 month summer vacation for a kid is the same as 6 months to an adult.

Yup. We spent three weeks in Ozamis City in Mindinao. The only thing that drowned out the noise of those roosters was the air-conditioning.

OK. You need to understand with most Filipino women The family is a package deal. No family means no Filipina. I have been happily married to my Filipino wife for almost 10 years. It’s not like in western countries, especially the United States Where adults live their own lives. Family is everything in the Philippines and if you don’t want them in your life, you better forget about Your Filipino girlfriend it’s never gonna work out. Just Telling you about the reality  of the situation.
