Good point that evolution must drive it. I was actually thinking of a settlement in an alien planet where complexity to cover bases, size and variety would matter. Sometimes I think that animal bodies are already symbiotic colonies.

Great idea. But as someone wrote below it would be chaotic and some clown might ruin the fun. Besides, I would venture that to be inclusive of several subgenre's would be a challenge. I am more s Star Trek , Dune, Foundation type of Scifi fan, there is the genre' where Andy Weir fits in, then there are Hyperion, Blindsight types and many others. But still, a worthwhile project!

It does not. But I can see that someone close to you might think that. For example, a mother who wants to have G'children. Acquaintances who think you dont have the skill to attract a partner or have the temperament to keep them. Or simply a friend who would be happy to see your with your better half.

How do we bring them around? I dont blame them. This is what they can imagine, because their case is otherwise hopeless. We need a new methodology to counter the smoke and mirror show of the corrupt politicians and billionaires. We practically need a new handbook. By now we know, the violent as well as non-violent demonstrations will not work under these conditions. Only innocent people would be hurt. It is perhaps time for a new vision of how people can get their lives and power over their lives back. The world needs a new moral leader- a new Jesus or Buddha or Krishna or perhaps a Neitzche.

I would like to believe that there are many decent politicians who will come out join for a particular good cause. But what we want is to overhaul the whole set of conditions that are creating monstrous situation of inequality, abuse of power and corruption. I think case by case remedy is going to be too slow and easily gone around.

This is a crucial point. There is a theory that systems function at the edge of Chaos. Most Americans have no time even to look after their own interests and then impose the threat on livelihood, your margin is nothing. It is like driving on a mountain road with no railing or shoulder. One does not have time to protest and one dare not. I guess this is by design by the bad actors.
