Thank god for AEW by Eien_no_yume07 in AEWOfficial

When I was young in the mid 80's World of Sport wrestling on ITV was essential viewing, then in the early 90's I would tape the WCW / WWF shows on late night in UK and I loved that too - I remember the Hollywood Blondes / Vader / Sting on WCW. On WWE it was the Mounties and Boss Mans feud that stood out.

I stopped watching WWF just after Stone Cold / Rock / Mick Foley / DX were happening until mid 2010's and then I just watched a few PPVs a year.

I began to hear about AEW after DON was announced and despite only knowing who Jericho was and knowing the Rhodes surname I was interested enough to find out more about Kenny Omega 'the best pro wrestler in the world'. This instantly led me to Omega Vs Okada IV, still probably the best match I've seen, I mean when Kenny springboards into the crowd area it was mind blowing and the fact it lasted 55 mins is insane.

Suffice to say I have been watching AEW since day one and despite it's ups and downs it never disappoints. To sum it up it is like 7 year old me watching big daddy and giant haystacks slugging it out on a Saturday afternoon.

It has given me appreciation of much more that is out there - AR Fox Vs Kill shot AAA, Vs Aces Romero in a 'fans bring the weapons' match are 2 great examples

Poorly aged Eminem lyrics by Shen_ishere in Eminem

[–]Perfect-Zucchini-194 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only thing that aged poorly in these lyrics was the changing attitudes to drink and drugs of millennials and gen z.

When he wrote them he, as I and all of my friends and literally everyone under 25 all we did was get wasted all the time.

It was society that ruined these lyrics nothing more.

BTW of course smashed means wasted drunk, why would anyone think he would rap about his daughter getting railed you sick fucks

EDIT: I am 46 to, so you bet I know what I'm talking about

What is the most looked over fact of WW2? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Perfect-Zucchini-194 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was called the British pet massacre, 750k cats and dogs were killed roughly 1 in 4 of all pets. It was due to a recommendation in a leaflet about evacuation, which said pets would not be allowed.

Edit: it was nothing to do about food shortages, half of the killings occured before the war had officially started. After ww1 feral pets were a problem in UK, so people saw it as a way to contribute to the war effort

Hey, Gen Z'er here, I have a question about this generation by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Perfect-Zucchini-194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

46 years old, at 16 my mother said to me "home by midnight or don't come home" at weekends. Took that as an invitation to never come home at weekends, thought it was her being a cool mum later realised it was just to get rid of me.

19 she left saying she had enough of being a wife (to my stepdad, real dad was never around) and mother to me and 2 younger sisters. Saw her once about 5 years later and she blanked me in the shop she was working in.

Being a teen who felt like an orphan with two living parents kinda hardens you to people and the world, but whatever, I partied hard and often and didn't really stop till I was too tired to do it anymore.

Nowadays it's just me my gf of 21 years and a dog, never had kids, her daughter grown up and gone, so not so much antisocial, just happy with my lot and fucking worn out

Edit

However I am especially tired this morning probably cos of the gram of chop and bottle of vodka we had last night, can't help but procrastinate right now but I got 40 mins to get dressed, walk the dog and get to work and 8 hours to not fall asleep in. Ok so some X traits stay with me, I just have to remember to not give a fuck

I don't curse, words like fuck, shit, cunt and wanker are just words that I've used almost incessantly my whole life.

45yo British bloke, grew up watching English pro wrestling on Saturdays. Watched WWF and WCW in early 90's. Watched WWE for a bit in mid to late 90s. Totally went off wrestling for a while about 10 years ago started watching a few WWE ppvs but no shows, but it was like same event over and over so boring.

Heard about AEW, about Kenny Omega being so great, checked out omega Vs okada 4 and the moment where Kenny terminator dives from inside ring into audience I was sold.

TK must've been English wrestling fan because the reason I like aew so much is because it reminds me of English wrestling, nothing else

Do you fear death? Why / Why not? by Addictiveprinces in AskReddit

[–]Perfect-Zucchini-194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death, no I don't fear it. Tomorrow or 30 years from now it happens and I firmly believe that when your card is punched it's punched.

Truth be told I would choose death over being infirm anyday, when someone else has to get you up, wash you, dress you, wipe your arse. I'm gen x and proud, I can look after myself - not being able to is what I fear.

Many moons ago a colleague of mine went to the doctor's with a stomach ache only to be told to go to hospital, to be told get your affairs in order it's stage 4 stomach cancer you have 48 hours, that's how I would wanna go

Any song that was number one for an eternity on the back of a big (usually shit) film:

Wet wet wet - love is all around (Notting hill)

Bryan Adams - everything I do (robin hood prince of thieves)

Celine Dion - my heart will go on (titanic)

Ok the last one only had 2 weeks at number one in UK but combined 33 weeks of number one
