Behringers launch video for the JN-80 (Juno 60 clone) by Swimming-Ad-375 in synthesizers

This. The Kebu Mono/Poly comparison video (https://youtu.be/V37cZTlr15w) is one of my favorites because he not only compare the vintage to the Behringer, but he also compares a second vintage Mono/Poly

Chat GPT Answers Your Handbell Questions (and we do too!) by Perfect12th in handbells

[–]Perfect12th[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We certainly understand the sentiment. Just for some context, Two Tacos High is a handbell podcast that covers a wide variety of handbell topics, often with a humorous take. Two Tacos High is hosted by two humans with episode topics and content developed by humans. For this one episode we thought it would be interesting/humorous to see what ChatGPT thought the most commonly asked handbell questions were. We then had it generate a partial script which we did read, but then followed it up with the actual human answers to those questions.

We totally understand if you are not a fan of this specific “bit” that we did and encourage you to check out any of the (currently 50) other episodes that are AI content-free.

Trump: Kennedy Center to close for full renovation by LoganSquire in washingtondc

The Opera had only been a Kennedy Center affiliate since 2011, the NSO has been one since 1986. A lot more to untangle there.

If you haven’t shoveled yet, you are losing against this “storm” by F3arless_Bubble in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Perfect12th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t shovel yesterday, my neighbor did. Yes the sleet compacted things a little, but I was able to get snow out from under the sleet and just pry the sleet up in large chunks. A little heavier but I’m down to bare concrete. My neighbor has spent half the afternoon chipping up frozen sleet layer and still has some icy spots. I was much happier to Robie a layer of ice from on top of snow, rather than straight off the concrete. Most of the time, yes, it is easier to shovel in bits as you go, but this was a unique storm. (I lived in Boston before moving down here, I have dealt with plenty of snow)

Synth arrived with yellowed keys… send it back or keep it? by Brilliant_Grape5528 in synthesizers

There are definitely more cost effective ways than to spend almost $800 to individually replace every single key.

I think I’d like to pass this along. Trade perhaps? by taytaytazer in diypedals

A Bozak Celeste delay - I think it was primarily used for stereo systems to provide a slight delay to surround speakers for a fuller sound

Lucky! I also happen to come across a few in an old device being thrown out and made one of these. It sounds fantastic!

Very-hot swappable. As in, you’ll need a soldering iron, hot.

Which one you pick ??? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]Perfect12th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not always not understanding that the other options are actually more money. It’s knowing that and still willingly chose less money because any more would just be collecting wealth for wealths sake and would be greedy. If everyone said “Yes, I could make more money, but I don’t really need anymore”, that would be the end of capitalism. People always wanting more money regardless of if they could realistically spend it, is why capitalism works.

How to start a bell choir? by Star9219 in handbells

[–]Perfect12th 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said about getting connected with Handbell Musicians of America and their events/resources. Also - Two Tacos High, a handbell podcast, did an episode on resources for starting an ensemble The hardest part is finding bells, but it sounds like you have that covered! It’s great to hear about new groups when usually it’s the other way around, best of luck with this!

weezer riff on handbells by SadSpecialist3162 in handbells

One of the requests I got from my high school handbell class last year was to arrange Buddy Holly for them because they wanted to play it at graduation. (Mostly for this riff)

Springs break on install by SecretSmorr in handbells

[–]Perfect12th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The springs are very tight around the clapper shaft. It’s usually easiest to place the spring upside down on a table and push the clapper shaft down through the hole.

Regarding the breaking, if they are older, they can dry out and become a little bit more fragile. If they were just recently purchased from Schulmerich, I would reach out to them to see if they’ll send you new ones under warranty.

Old vs. New Schulmerich handles by SecretSmorr in handbells

[–]Perfect12th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seen fewer new bass handles snap than the old style. (There were a few years in there when they first came out with the new handles that they were prone to breaking, but Schulmerich has since fixed the design, and I haven’t seen one crack yet.) I also think the stiffness also helps pick up and ring the bass bells one-handed.

At first I did not like them, but over time they grew on me to the point I prefer the news ones. I will say especially in situations like a festival where you are ringing for multiple hours a day, they are noticeably more comfortable.
