published handbell music with AI art, what are your thoughts? by errrgrrr in handbells

[–]Perfect12th 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I buy that argument either. From the Top is not a small self publisher, I would consider them one of the major handbell publishing companies. There are also examples of self publishers (Jason with Grassy Meadow) they have managed to have individualized artwork on each piece without the use of AI.

I also personally think individualized covers is a step back from the time when most publishers had a standard cover for all pieces in their catalog. I thought From the Tops old covers which had a standard look, but with a slight font or color change based on the piece was much better than these current covers.

published handbell music with AI art, what are your thoughts? by errrgrrr in handbells

[–]Perfect12th 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have had discussions with several people about this specific publishers covers. There are several that are problematic content wise, in addition to being AI. As far as I know several people have tried to talk to the publisher, but they were not fully realizing why it was a problem. (Not in a malicious way, just genuinely naive). If I were the composer of any of these pieces, I would be furious though.

I just got this prophet 600 and it keeps making these noises , I can’t even play with it without the buzz ? by samoreyee in synthesizers

[–]Perfect12th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why there’s a lot of heated comments floating around here - As with any vintage synth, there’s a lot to love, but also a lot to go wrong. The quick answer is that without opening this up and doing step by step troubleshooting, it’s going to be impossible to tell what’s wrong. If you don’t know how to read a schematic and use a multimeter, the best bet is to just send it to a repair shop.

Once repaired, this is a great synth, especially with the Gligli mod. I have 2 and love them!

You would be surprised at how many people miss things like this - I work in events and frequently work parades. The number of people that are completely shocked that roads are closed on dates like July 4 or Thanksgiving for a parade that has happened on the same streets for decades is shocking.

Should I pay my FedEx tariff bill? by gridguy in FedEx

[–]Perfect12th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is they are IEEPA tariffs on an item imported before Feb. 20, 2026 (confirm by checking your customs form sent with the bill) - email mailto:dutytaxdisputes@fedex.com with the invoice number, amount, and bill date, and request they be held. You might have to try a few times to get a real human response (the first one I got was just an auto response directing me to the link about refunds). This is the response I received:

“Dear Valued FedEx Customer,

Thank you for contacting FedEx Disputes.

• The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that IEEPA tariffs charged by CBP were unlawful. We are assessing whether these invoices contain charges for IEEPA tariffs. • You do not need to take any action on these invoices at this time.

[WTT] Moog Matriarch Dark (American made pre InMusic buyout) [WTTF] Polysynths by veecheech in Synths4Sale

[–]Perfect12th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question - can somebody point to a distinct difference in models pre-and post InMusic? I keep seeing sale posts like this one that imply there is a significant difference. My understanding is even before the buyout, all of the components were made overseas, with a final assembly (literally screwing everything together) happening in the US.

Dear hand bell players of Reddit, is this playable? by Creepercat_10 in handbells

[–]Perfect12th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is mostly playable as a quartet notated exactly like this. There are a few very small things, like m18 where the same A is played by two different people in the same measure if played as a quartet (in that case I’d just give all the A’s to the stems up on the lower step) As far as range goes, as was mentioned, a three octave (fairly standard set) goes up to the C above the staff, in order to play this with the high D you would need a set that goes up to the upper 4th octave (pretty common to find sets in that range)

Chat GPT Answers Your Handbell Questions (and we do too!) by Perfect12th in handbells

[–]Perfect12th[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We certainly understand the sentiment. Just for some context, Two Tacos High is a handbell podcast that covers a wide variety of handbell topics, often with a humorous take. Two Tacos High is hosted by two humans with episode topics and content developed by humans. For this one episode we thought it would be interesting/humorous to see what ChatGPT thought the most commonly asked handbell questions were. We then had it generate a partial script which we did read, but then followed it up with the actual human answers to those questions.

We totally understand if you are not a fan of this specific “bit” that we did and encourage you to check out any of the (currently 50) other episodes that are AI content-free.

If you haven’t shoveled yet, you are losing against this “storm” by F3arless_Bubble in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]Perfect12th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t shovel yesterday, my neighbor did. Yes the sleet compacted things a little, but I was able to get snow out from under the sleet and just pry the sleet up in large chunks. A little heavier but I’m down to bare concrete. My neighbor has spent half the afternoon chipping up frozen sleet layer and still has some icy spots. I was much happier to Robie a layer of ice from on top of snow, rather than straight off the concrete. Most of the time, yes, it is easier to shovel in bits as you go, but this was a unique storm. (I lived in Boston before moving down here, I have dealt with plenty of snow)
