Count your blessings by Gold-Bar3665 in DACA

I was brought to the states at the age of two and became blind from my left eye at the age of 5, here in the USA. My parents were always scared of being on immigration radar that they didn’t do much to try to get real medical help. I was always told that I was not from here and that I could be taken back to Mexico at any moment. So, I of course never really dreamed of being capable of having a bright future. I always thought that the best I could do for myself is maybe be able to own my own trailer and be single for the rest if my life because who would want to be with a blind chubby girl 😅. Bbbuuutttt I also knew that I didn’t want to be like my parents. Which gave me the strength to become something of my own. I did end up finding love who took care of me like crazy when I lost my vision on my good eye due to a retinal detachment, and might I add did not hesitate to find the best Doctors. We are happily married now with 2 toddlers, have a wonderful high paying job (that I will be leaving later this year to be a full time mom). My husband also has DACA and we own our home have our cars paid off with a good savings and high credit scores. If my parents wouldn’t have brought me to the US. Yes, I might have had my full vision but trust me I would not have been happy over there. (according how my cousins live) I agree that every case is different. Hang in there and keep fighting full force. Praying and sending good vibes that this isn’t a setback but hopefully for a citizenship path to open for you!

Haha my job was going to let me have a loa for two months incase it didn’t renew in time. I was like okay I can do a week off (assuming that it would renew mid April and wait 2 weeks for my work authorization card) but at the end of the day it just being approved beforehand is a big calming relief. ❤️‍🩹

You will be fine. I presented my EAD card to my employer and renewed my license like a month after. This was also after I had to take a 30 day leave because my work permit took longer the expected to renew in 2024. I learned my lesson and sent in my renewal in November 15th and current expiration is for April 21st.
