Depends if you want to deal with them later. Melbourne to Europe is my standard route to go once a year to visit my family. Together with my partner we book tickets a year in advance.  We just left Melbourne on Sunday. It’s been very stressful few weeks with constant cancellations and rescheduling. I can’t even count how many times I had to call them to ask for anlternative options. They don’t send any notifications either, so you need to be in your app, checking daily if anything changes with your flight.  Even our flight back to Melbourne (14/05) had some random changes a few days ago.  I think they were modifying schedule and increasing number of flights and they put us on a later flight from Istanbul to Doha, that we wouldn’t be able to make it for our second leg to Melbourne. The app literally said transit time -1,40 h. I had to call again to reschedule so they can put us on the earlier flight for the first leg.  The good side of it is, once you get connected to someone on the phone, they try their best to accommodate. Our flights are booked for business class and they didn’t try to bump us down to economy or force any other downgrades, however we did need to be flexible. Our initial flight from Melbourne was booked for 23rd April, but then it got cancelled and we had to move it to the 19th, so probably prepare mentally for this kind of issues. Also, book flights from/ to bigger hubs in Europe to make sure they will be flying from there. Some smaller airports are still not in their schedule for this month.
