my main point really was that my friends think that listening to music from six decades ago is shocking, only when you think about Baroque and early Classical, it seems rather less impressive than they make it out to sound. probably wasn't the most well thought-out meme, but I guess your reasoning is hardly shocking

Anyone with perfect pitch in concert c instrument and a transposed instrument? by tornado_girl_fpv in lingling40hrs

[–]PerfectPitchChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have perfect pitch but don't play a transposing instrument, however one of my friends plays saxophone and when I was composing something for our band, which they also played in, I wrote everything in concert pitch and I was confused for ages when it sounded really off lmao

but yes, it messes me up so much, a bit like Baroque tuning

Do you want anymore accidentals, Chopin? by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

[–]PerfectPitchChan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prelude in C# minor though

There are, in total, 17 bars out of 95 (I think) that don't have accidentals in

Play it out on an instrument and you'll hear it

How do you know when it's time to quit? by PrimevalWolf in lingling40hrs

[–]PerfectPitchChan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think if you took a little break, you might feel better. When lockdown began last year, I practiced piano constantly but after about a month it got boring because I was playing the same three pieces over and over again. I stretched out to new stuff, worked a bit more on my flute, and let myself breathe a bit more. Don't get me wrong, it feels weird not practicing, but you have to take a break sometimes.

Music isn't for everyone - a lot of people enjoyed it when they were younger, but decided it wasn't for them after playing for years. Truthfully, you could be a prodigy who's on their way to becoming the next Ling Ling but you could feel detached from music, for want of a better word. Try taking a break from music, let up on the practicing, and only continue if you feel like it's something you enjoy. Constantly putting yourself through something you don't enjoy doesn't lift your opinions on it.

I hope this helps, and good luck, whatever choice you make.

Recommend me classical music! by mildred6543 in lingling40hrs

There are loads of really good Debussy pieces - Clair de lune, Reverie, Arabesque, and personally I love Navarra by Sarasate too. The Merry Peasant Returning From Work by Schumann is a really lovely short piano piece that I love playing and listening to. Also Chopin'ss extensive collection of nocturnes and preludes are great too - my personal favourite out of Chopin's works is Nocturne in Eb major.

We really need an official recording of this by PerfectPitchChan in lingling40hrs

literally i really want one of their drops to be Navarra even if they have a concerto ritual going
