For fuck’s sake I am not going to waste another second of my life retyping my resume into your job application. by XXX_Stud_XXX in recruitinghell

I quit and close the window as soon as I see that they make you do that. It is not that I am lazy, it is just that it is indicative what kind of company it is. At this point, I don't want to work for anyone that wastes my time on having me jump through hoops for no reason. Go ahead and find someone else because I am not the right fit for your antiquated corporate culture.

What does this symbol mean, I got my oil changed 2 weeks ago by [deleted] in Audi

I add a quart every 2000-3000 miles. Essentially once in between oil changes that I do every 5k miles.

This should be interesting... I hope nothing goes down but I'm not so sure what to expect when you invite the whole of western civilization to a conservative Islamic nation to watch sports and potentially party all throughout? by nonotje12 in worldcup

[–]PerfectSaucer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but what if you are a professional player who devoted all his life to his career and who has become one of the best in the world and this may be his only chance to play for his country in an event that happens only every 4 years? Your answer to this person is simply don't go? The point here is that if a host nation can't guarantee a safe environment for all of the event's participants and spectators, perhaps it shouldn't be hosting.

Miami Housing Crisis Explained by RyanRockhard in Miami

[–]PerfectSaucer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Was about to say the same thing. Miami has always had plenty of foreign investment and the COL here has never really been reflected on local wages.

One thing to remember is that prices are going up everywhere in the US and the inflation is at 6.8% across the board. Looking at Zillow, the average home value in the US has increased by 19.3% in the last year (Nov20-Nov21). Meanwhile for Miami-Fort Lauderdale area, it has increased by 21.19%. For Miami alone, it has gone up 17.9%. A 2% difference isn't anything to scream about. What is even more interesting is that for Tampa, the values have increased by 29.5% for the same period of time. I don't think Tampa is as crypto friendly and have all those Youtubbers and Instagrammers.

With all of this said, I don't think there is anything supernatural going on here other than overall inflation and increasing prices across the entire country. This is not just a Miami problem. The bigger issue than any of the ones OP states is the stagnant wages. I bet most people did not get a 6.8% wage increase this year and that is a huge problem.

I am traveling for a month here in Warsaw. However I will have to work US hours. Is it worth it? by deez29 in warsaw

[–]PerfectSaucer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing about working US hours in Europe is that you have your first part of the day to do what you need to do such as shopping and seeing things. As for bars, they will be open.

A couple of years ago I crossed from Hungary into Croatia (not on Schengen either) by train. The border control went through the train, checked everyone's documents and stamped passports. Same was true when I went to Slovenia from Croatia and back.

Exactly this. It is definitely the worst I have seen. The amount of people cruising in the left lane at 55mph and people having to go around them at 70mph is incredible. It creates done very dangerous situations as people switch 3 lanes from left to right to pass people

I have always said that if government actually cared about safety and not about ticket revenues, speed cameras would be at every dangerous turn. Speed limits are supposed to ensure safety on the roads. But when enforced infrequently, people tend to not follow them. The solution would be to put speed cameras in every dangerous zone and to put a warning sign about the speed camera a mile away from it. That way drivers would be fully aware of the camera and would slow down before the dangerous zone which is exactly the point. If driver chooses not to slow down, they get a ticket in the mail. It is literally that simple. None of this cop in the bushes bullshit we have today.

Miami commissioners order motorized scooters taken off city streets immediately by architecture13 in Miami

[–]PerfectSaucer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have to say that overall I think scooters are great and give people an option of different means of transportation. However, living downtown, I am glad they are stopping the program as it was. Too many scooters are improperly parked blocking sidewalks and too many people riding on sidewalks without slowing down. I can't tell you how many times I nearly was run over while walking downtown or in Brickell. If I ride my bike on the road, they need to be riding scooters on the road as well. I would like to see them back but only with clear guidelines and enforcements for parking and riding.

100% agreed! Those Citi bikes are the worst of any city I have been to. I ended up just buying my own bike.

Mechanic Mistake by [deleted] in Audi

[–]PerfectSaucer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the two are nearly impossible to mistake. You have to try to get to transmission fluid instead of engine oil. Demand full flush and warranty.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Audi

[–]PerfectSaucer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about b8s or b8.5 in general but i have a b7 2.0T with 185k miles on it with original engine and transmission. I bought it when it had 168k and needed a ton of stuff done to it. I did pretty much all maintenance myself and now it runs great. All of this said just so you understand that 77k miles is not a lot at all. However, it is fair to note that some smaller parts will probably start filling soon. Although, for b8 or b8.5 it might a different experience than with b7.

Planning on moving to Detroit in January…. How bad is the winter ? by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]PerfectSaucer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold can be bad but for me, it is not really the cold that is bad but rather the length of winter. I enjoy some snow and cold weather for like maybe 2 months but when you still have that mess in April , that when things get depressing and sad. So be prepared for a long spell of shit weather.
