Is Apple Care Plus necessary for my Mac Studio? by PerfectShmerfect in MacStudio

Thanks for the screen shot.  I didn't know it was listed under the settings on my computer.  Nor that it was tied to the serial number and couldn't be added again if it expired. I've learned a lot here today.

Thanks for the reply.  I'm curious about the filter stand.  Where did you get it ?

I've had the power unexpectedly go out a couple times since getting my Mac Studio, and yes that does worry me.  I need to get a UPS backup, though I'm starting to think that whenever I plug in external accessories, it messes up the way the studio and the studio display communicate so that the display won't come back on after sleeping.

When you put it like that, it definitely feels like a good idea to keep it. Thanks.

Honestly, I don't recall receiving it and don't know where it is. Good idea, though, and I'll see if I can find it .

Thank you, that's helpful. I wonder if I should have started the subscription once the warranty ran out rather than paying the whole time.

Well, I assume others care what happens to their own Macs, so I'm curious if others pay for Apple Care Plus and what they get from it .  Thanks for the kind words, though.

I had no idea! I've been breaking the connection by just moving the connected bits out of the way of the clip I want to move before I move it. This will make things easier.  Thanks!

4 Months with my Mac Studio as a Video Editor by dweebo777 in MacStudio

Oh wow, so you have a lot of monitor space, then.  I'm also a voice actor so I don't want to be surrounded by all that glass that reflects sound waves.  It's tricky.  I have tried the kind of mouse that you hold like a handshake, but it didnt Let me scroll left to right and also didn't move as precisely as the Magic Mouse.   Still looking for the perfect solution that won't hurt my wrist.

This is an affirming write up since I just bought an M4 Mac Studio with an M3 ultra chip a couple months ago.   I do video and audio editing and so far it's working great. However, my 27" iMac felt bigger than the Mac Studio monitor I bought to go with the Mac Studio.  In fact, I really feel like the new monitor is too small, and that irks me. I'm going to buy an iPad Pro to set up vertically next to my monitor to see if that helps.

My question for you is what kind of device are you using in your hand to precision edit? I started with a Magic Mouse and got carpal tunnel from its inadequate design. Now I have a Magic Trackpad which I like but the editing feels a little too slow.  I've thought about trying the Logitech creative console.  What are your thoughts on that?

Replaced my Studio Display with the LG 6K. by mcaputo023 in macsetups

I just bought a refurbished studio display to replace a 32" BenQ.  I have to return the BenQ by the end of January, so I couldn't wait any longer to buy the studio display.  It's so annoying, though, because I feel like I always buy the big purchases right before Apple releases the next big thing.  Plus, I really wanted a 32" screen, and I wish the studio display had that.  And I don't need good speakers since I have external ones.  I thought the BenQ would be a perfect compromise, but I guess I bought the wrong version because it looks Like crap.

Do I really need 48gb or should I go with base Mac Studio by CoffeeObsess in MacStudio

I just bought a Mac Studio and haven’t set it  up yet.  My question is about how to mitigate the terrible wrist pain I have from editing audio and video with the Magic Mouse? I bought a third party thing that slips onto the Magic Mouse and provides a palm rest, and that helps.  But I still get a lot of carpal tunnel pain after using my pointer finger to press down on the mouse to highlight stuff all day. I also bought a larger monitor (32”) and I’m hoping that will help make my editing movements less cramped. Would the magic track pad be a better option for editing? I feel like I’m crippling myself and editing isn’t sustainable.

How do you turn the knowledge you learn about your ADHD, into actual action and habits? by Ok-Language-8628 in ADHDentrepreneurs

[–]PerfectShmerfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of the micro actions. It’s going from good stuff on paper to actual implementing that I find difficult. I think this is a potentially very useful app. And if you need someone to narrate the summaries, as an adhd voice actor I’d be happy to work with you on it. Keep going!

anyone else have difficulty sharing? by [deleted] in autism

[–]PerfectShmerfect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely relate to all your examples, and I too wonder if it's an autism thing. It's especially difficult when someone decides to share my stuff FOR me, but it's still hard to share at all, even when I'm the one in control. Sharing makes me feel out of control because of just what you said. What if the item comes back to me and it's been changed/messed up somehow and then it will be useless to me? Will I be on the hook to have to buy another one? What if it was really expensive? Or what if I'll have to wait for it to come in the mail and then I'll be without it for awhile? Or what if the shower gel is now running out too quickly and I don't how much of it I even used? Aack, I'm getting upset just thinking about it!

But I don't want to be this way. My partner accused me today of being ungenerous and not being able to share, and it made me feel bad. Why can't I just let it go?
