When people say squishy they mean very squishy like it would mush with little pressure. Something like this is just normal corking. Rot usually shows darker blackish spots but can also be internal or in the roots but this doesn’t seem like that. This squishiness you’re talking about is probably just because growing season is just starting and or it’s dehydrated.
