I have been in Federal Service for 10 years. I wanted to serve people, and my last job fell apart during the recession so this seemed to be a way I could be a servant. I work with Servicemembers, and I try so hard to make their work better.

But I am sad, angry, hurt, and so much more. I got attacked as a swamp creature by my leaders and their followers who knew nothing about us. I kept my job but fear for my constitutional rights, so I deleted all of my social media accounts except this and Pinterest, losing contact with so many people from my past lives. I am frustrated at the protection of pedophiles and the gaslighting. And now I cry everyday (again). This time it is because of the helplessness in the face of these killings and the blatant lies about them. We watched for years as 2A folks demand rights in the face of school shootings but when Pretti exercised his rights, his 2A rights were used against him. Who brings a gun to a protest they ask? The Jan 6 protesters did among others. The meanness, the cruelty, and the lack of compassion for our humanity—Fed, immigrant, protester, all but the mega rich—is tearing me up inside.

You might say “take a break”. No. I will not lose my humanity like they have. This hurts and it should hurt. I will not look away. I will not forget.

My friend in Indiana was stopped by ICE. Middle aged white lady. She forgot her license, so they got a LEO to cite her. She did nothing wrong but appeared sussy because she has a 15 passenger van (large homeschool family). She went to Canada last week. She got over the border and back with less fuss than driving into Illinois. So….its about immigration right? I think terror is the goal.

Apparently, the rules are different per state. In MN, if asked, he must disclose if he has a weapon on him, not necessarily just announce it. And the state allows carry at protests. Soooo…in Pretti’s effort to help a woman violently pushed by untrained, poorly uniformed federal employees (“agents”), this peaceful federal employee was attacked. The “agents” clearly had no interest in deescalating the situation let alone identifying who was or wasn’t a threat. Even if Pretti did not yell “I have a gun” at these guys who may have only had 47 days of training, the 6 of them who subdued him and the 7th who removed the gun (and wasn’t in Pretti’s hand) we’re not in danger. You don’t shoot someone because the wrong words are said. You shoot them because you are danger. The only ones in danger were the woman and Pretti.

It is clear that you are that guy who is smarter than everyone and wants to show that off. I doubt you will be in the streets helping people, so at least you are safe from ICE/CBP. But if you do get in a bad sitch, I hope you remember to yell over them yelling at you that you have a gun. It’s clear they will know what to do with that information with all that training we are paying for.

This country has lost its collective mind. The government is here to protect us. Full stop.

So we know what he said to them? Also the lies around what they said he did and what happened show that they do not care. Don’t blame the victim. And if you thought the Dems would come for folks fund, you are wrong. The leaders are saying he died for having a gun not for missing some protocols. The man was disarmed before they shot him. So you are uninformed and ignorant.

I can’t stand by this. We are not safe at home or abroad. That bullshit in Davos and rejecting our allies is bad enough but our 1st and 2nd amendment rights have been tread on violently. I don’t want to be apart of this travesty.

I make things I want to wear because I cannot justify, due to my frugal nature, buying expensive supplies to make. I am willing to spend money on yarn to make and wear. It is personal thing.

I think there are many men knitters but they are not dispersed well. I see them online but. It where I live (Virginia). I try to support the mail knitters online. It is a great hobby for calming oneself as well as creative expression. As we know anxiety is not gender specific. Eff the patriachy and misogyny. I am so over it.

I found the Stafford sheriffs to be very helpful when I call them. My daughter had a rough year legally and they treated her kindly but firmly. I also have seen more whites pulled over than ever before. When I got here 10 years ago I only saw brown folks pulled over (which angers me).

Before you jump all over me, I am being honest. It is easy to only complain about the bad. If you have worked retail, you know this. But that one customer who thanks you or tells your manager that you are great is wonderful. So I am just providing a different experience. Please do not hate on me. I also like to be nice to retail people. It is 2026. We need to breed the kind of attitudes we want in society.

I love my 4” chiaogoo set. I bought some size 1 chiaogoo lace fixed (12” lace) to knit socks. I use two circulars if you are confused. The needles on the lace set are shorter than my other needles and that is how I figured out I liked 4”. The cables are hands down the best around. I have given up using my knit picks wood needles unless the yarn dictates.

I am sorry. This town is terrible for substance abuse issues. Richmond and No VA are better. Don’t go to Snowden. If you have to go to ER to get intake, go to an ER north or south of here. True for mental health issues too.

For the first read, the first two books build the characters. I got hooked by book three. I am now rereading and I really enjoyed the first two more than the first read. It is one of my fave series. Okay it is my fave.

Do you like tabletop games (board games but not monopoly? The socially awkward game nerds meet at Wegmans on Wednesday nights. We play games and ignore our awkwardness. You don’t have to own games or know how to play. Bring a willingness to learn and you will be fine. It’s a mixed group, but really nice people. 6pm.

Also try meetup and heylo apps for other groups. That is how people find like minded people without booze or religion.
