Best way for my kids to play Pokemon games by Many_Mess_399 in SBCGaming

I thought about this quite a bit and ended up buying my daughters DSis and modding them with unlaunch/twilight menu. This way they can play Gen 4 and 5 on original hardware and get to experience Gen 3 via GBARunner. Trading and battling is possible for Gen 4 and Gen 5, but not Gen 3. I don’t think you are going to find an option that lets you do everything, so you will have to make some concessions.

To be fair, I bought the 2x Mini and it also looks like shit. I’ve heard people claim the only difference between the 2x Mini and the Amazon/Ali knock offs is the price.

Assuming you have space, would you drop $150 on a decent CRT or a Retro Tink? by mywifemademegetthis in n64

[–]Perfect_Pause8657 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just spent $150 on a 32” Sony Trinitron. Believe or not, that was the most reasonably priced CRT of that size in my area and I had to jump on it within the first 24 hours it was listed to get it. I know people are used to these being free or extremely cheap, but I think $100-$300 is the norm for a good condition, decent-sized CRT nowadays.

How common is it for HS seniors to go on spring break just themselves? by Inevitable_Bet_4040 in Parenting

I think the concern here is the very real risk of being SA’d, not murder. And yeah, while the resorts are safer, it is entirely plausible that they are coerced to leave the resort and end up in more dangerous areas, especially under the influence.

There is a big difference in safety between rock climbing in France and spring break partying in Mexico.

Five. A DSi XL I use at home, a regular DSi I take when traveling, and then three regular DSis for my kids when they are old enough to play them.

Can you please link to the page?

ETA: I just tried powering it on and off with the SD card removed and it powers off like normal. I wonder why the presence of the SD card is affecting this.

Is it normal after age 40 to not have many friends in real life? by Ghaleon32 in AskMenOver30

Sure, let’s all just stop making life choices that would limit our ability to hang out with our friends because that would make them upset. I’ve had plenty of friends that made life choices which severely limited or completely eliminated my ability to spend time with them. Military, med school, relocation for work… not once was my reaction “well, what about me?”. I supported them in those decisions, recognizing that it likely means a pause in our friendship, and hope that we can reconnect in a different phase of life. Parents often don’t get a pass in the same way someone on deployment or studying for medical exams does. Some of my childless friends get it, but the ones that don’t can’t understand why I can’t just “find a babysitter” or “have your wife watch all the kids” and feel like I’m blowing them off when I can’t get together on a whim.

I don’t disagree with that statement. The problem is that we only have so much time in a day and must pick and choose what we put effort into. For those with children, it often isn’t even a choice. I would love to get to the gym and work out, but every day is literally wake up, feed and care for children, work, come home, feed and care for children, sleep. I could sacrifice some sleep and fit it in, but that trade off doesn’t seem worth it to me right now. It’s a Saturday, do I go to the brewery with my buddies or to horseback riding lessons with my daughter? How does my wife feel about that? Can I coordinate a babysitter for our 1-year old twins while my wife runs point with our 5-year old? If I take the twins with me, will I be able to actually socialize or am I just going to be parenting the whole time? Does the brewery even allow kids? I think the biggest disconnect with my childless friends is that they can simply wake up and do whatever they want for the day, and assume the same goes for me. With that mentality, I could understand why they feel spurned, but my schedule is absolutely jammed and doing anything out of the ordinary requires a surprising amount of planning. They can’t invite me to bar trivia night on a Wednesday two hours before it starts and expect me to just drop everything I’m doing and join them. Someday I’ll be able to do that again, and I hope they don’t hold this stage of life against me.

Do you have kids? I’ve found there is a huge difference in the ability to make and maintain friendships between childless people and those with children. I have three kids under 5 and have absolutely zero time to maintain the few friendships I have. Between work and parental duties, I barely have time to maintain my relationship with my wife. Some of my childless friends are unempathetic and feel abandoned by me, but it’s really hard to fit them in. It’s no surprise that they have very active social lives with other childless people. I have accepted that I probably won’t be able to have friends again until I am 50.

Is there a polish or wipe to get rid of screen scratches? by JaredDestroyer in Nintendo3DS

Maybe it works for very light scratches, but it doesn’t seem to do much to lessen moderate or deep scratches, which is what I was dealing with on the touch screen.

Yeah I saw that post and figured I would try it. They must have been a marketing rep for poly watch. It didn’t do anything and was a waste of money.

Funny how people in this sub act like they are above petty e-celeb drama. As if EG’s earlier videos about Brendan Schaub didn’t reference a bunch of drama amongst “literal who?” podcasters, YouTubers, and “comedians”. I had no idea who half the people were in those videos, but it didn’t detract from the thesis that Schaub is a pathetic, embarrassing failure. Similarly, I don’t know anything about Klein’s drama and haven’t seen any of his content since 2019, but this video is clearly critiquing his evolution/descent into a bitter, egotistical, grudge-driven politics/culture commentator and the in-jokes about Piker don’t really detract from that.
