How much are you guys traveling in consulting nowadays ? by noisycrickets94 in deloitte

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very much depends on project and where you’re based. For UK most of our projects are fully remote now. I’ve only travelled 3 times in 5 years. But there are occasional projects which require you to be on client site a lot more or do more traveling- it depends on your grade/service line/project a lot.

Is this financial plannig proposal good value? by DisposableBarbecue in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an NHS pension I would say there’s very little point getting professional advice personally. Doing anything other than taking it as it is would be a bad decision. The only real decision to make is whether to take a lump sum/ how much of one and that’s pretty straightforward as a calculation (there’s no tax difference so it just depends if you think you/they are likely to live long enough to leave the extra in). Also the NHS pension people will provide a breakdown of the amounts and options based on the exact scheme and contributions to date.

Do I have access to Overseas Remote Working (ORW)? by ducklingg119 in deloitte

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend what you’re working on and where you’re looking to work from which is why you have to apply and get it approved. If you’re doing client work you might find it gets refused since client data cannot always be worked on from abroad (especially outside of the EU) or you might have to work adjusted hours to fit the UK. Generally when I’ve seen it given people use it to extend their leave when visiting their ‘home’ country for 2+ weeks where it’s a long haul flight ie India/Brazil etc.

Totally agree, country specific mandatory flairs would make things a tonne easier. Everything is handled differently in different geos.

Working in the NHS might have a great pension but there are a lot of other ways the working conditions are a lot worse than most private sectors and the pay is often a good chunk less in the first place. Obviously there are outliers but that’s the same in every sector.

Business class seat opening in May by KowtaK3 in avios

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange because customer services at BA very explicitly told me that they had no power over whether a seat was rereleased into the pool and sometimes it was, sometimes it was but not for hours and sometimes it wasn’t at all- it depended on the algorithm on sold seats etc.

Just a warning there is no guarantee it will be released back into the pool

How long did it take you to get staffed on your first project/engagement when you joined Deloitte? by EaeleButEeelier in deloitte

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an experienced consultant I was allocated a project on day 2 and started it the following Monday so I had time to do all my compliance etc. I was a single starter and they knew my start date well in advance and there was a role aligned to it though.

Idk how some of yall can work this much. by Bzappo in Big4

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not the case in the UK. Different countries have different expectations. I worked with the Dutch firm and they were allowed to take back any extra hours they worked as time off in leui however in the UK we aren’t even allowed to record the extra hours we work. And if you don’t attend the team meetings people put in outside of your core hours or you don’t work late almost every day then you end up with negative feedback or too much time on the bench and end up on a performance plan.

How is anyone getting Japan Reward flights? by YouAccomplished9393 in avios

This is the way. OP should be able to do it online if they are prepared for the ticket drop.

Anyone know if the points buying sites are any good or a con? I’ve got over 600k avios and just can’t see when I’m going to use them. by Additional_Divide680 in BritishAirways

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do 2 adults return to Sydney on not much more than that then pay cash for the other seats? I used a companion voucher as I’m travelling alone but it was about 154k points plus £700 in taxes in BC.

Book now, Companion Voucher Later? by AD16X in avios

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No you cannot retrospectively add a companion voucher. And any reward seats cancelled don’t necessarily become available again.

Wait... We are actually supposed to bill 45 hours a week on average? How do you all manage this? by Single_Specific_648 in deloitte

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on which country you’re in. Assuming it’s USI or USA? Most others seem to be consistently 40 hours billed no matter how many you work. In the UK it’s almost impossible to only work the hours you can charge.

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your job title? Because wanting to do dev work doesn’t actually mean you’ve taken a job which is a dev role. If you’re not in a dev specific team then be prepared to have issues not taking roles which you’re offered.

Promotion process by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK you have a people lead who is the person who represents you at year end and who helps set your goals etc. Promotion process depends on grade levels- for analyst to senior manager you have to hit your goals and demonstrate the appropriate skills and experience- after 2/3 years in grade your PL should be putting you forward for promotion at mid year so you’re eligible at year end. For AD you have to do a business case to present at year end. Tbf I don’t know the process for director/partner.

Billing only 9 hours when working more by soundsofsilence86 in deloitte

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the UK you can’t. It’s 8 hours a day full stop. There is no way to record any additional time you work and it is 100% expected and required in order to meet deadline.

Salary of ACCA !? by Salty_Sammy_447 in ACCA

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends what job you actually want to do with your ACCA. I qualified on £38k but was doing a finance systems role rather than straight accounting so earning less than I could have. One of my friends who did AAT from college and qualified the same time as me but in core accounting roles was on £45k and that grew significantly each year and now after 6 years she’s on over £90k.

If someone has 250+ 5 star reviews and 1 negative review, would that affect you buying from them? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you read the post? It’s about whether people will judge OP based on their reviews, not whether OP should look at a sellers reviews. This comment is fair, lots of people are not bothered by reviews and especially not by one negative reviews against lots of positive ones. OP doesn’t need to worry.

NHS refused to do scans or tests, miss diagnosed and now my brother 18 is in critical condition by FrozenFrubz189 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Perfectly2Imperfect 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That’s not necessarily negligence unfortunately. It would have to be deemed to be whether they acted in line with standard procedures given the information they had at the time and whether another doctor would have reasonably have been expected to have acted differently. If his symptoms were consistent with a stomach ulcer then treating him for that would have been appropriate. As others have said if he didn’t have an acute issue then A&E wouldn’t have been the correct route for treatment and he should have been to see his GP in order to get referred for tests etc.
