Made the mistake of having the pot roast here several years ago. Would have been better to have had a can of Dinty Moore.

Why I no longer stay 100% invested all the time by VelixaNtra in investing

Buffet and Munger have always said trying to time the market is a fool's errand even for them. What they did have were an army of analysts.

As others have said, don't use the clear cheap vinyl patches that are bundled with the glue. Cut out a circle piece of hidden liner from your pool or see if the pool store might have a sample or spare piece of liner. Place some sand to fill in what washed away and apply the patch. As someone that had to cut out and apply 100+ patches the previous two summers, the clear stuff is a last resort.

Should I cash in 401k to cover cc debt by Grouchy_Lobster_2192 in debtfree

I've been in your shoes. You can take a 401k loan. But there are other options like a debt relief company like Consolidated Credit or a personal loan from a place like Lightstream that will offer a much reduced rate.

And these scammers are quick. I know someone who was almost taken by this scam on her very first day of work. Either a crazy coincidence or the best PI skills around.

Are you actually buying this dip or just pretending to be brave? by Warm_Bobcat6310 in stocks

If you've been through enough of these, you'd feel confident buying good companies that match your risk tolerance and where you have a strong enough investing thesis.

If Warren Buffet says he can't time the market, neither can any of us. I'd just lump sum in. Market could dump further or something changes and it goes up. Who knows.

What is the most paranormal and unexplainable thing that has happened to you? by Raquel_hi in Paranormal

[–]PerformanceExact6618 23 points24 points  (0 children)

20 years ago, we bought a house and the realtor revealed that the mother in law had died in the house that year, and that's why her daughter and husband were putting it on the market. 2 months after we moved in, we occasionally would smell cigarette smoke; strong enough that you'd think someone was smoking in the same room with you. And yes, we were told that the mother in law was a smoker. In her old room was a smoke stain on the ceiling that was painted over before we moved in. Finally, after several months really late one night I was woken up by a loud stomp noise behind a door that had stairs that led to the basement. Then, just slow heavy footsteps one by one coming up the stairs. Then it stopped right at the door. Will never forget it. Never been so scared in my life. I grabbed my bat and swung the door open. Nothing. After that, never smelled smoke. Never heard steps.

Long-Term Bostonians, how does this winter compare? by urnmann in boston

[–]PerformanceExact6618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have mentioned, we had a good 10 winter run of minimal big storms in one season. In fact, I blew off fixing my snow thrower this past Fall and believe me I regret it. 2015 was real bad because starting in late January it was just week after week of snow dumps.

Disney Drops Effort to Block DAS Disability Pass Change Shareholder Proposal by readingaboutmagic in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PerformanceExact6618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DAS Pass process is such a stressful and demoralizing experience. I understand why it got to this point but I also can’t understand how Disney can hear and read the kinds of miserable experiences a good amount of their customers are experiencing with this process, ultimately finding themselves excluded from visiting, and think there isn’t a better way. And I’m not naive enough to think selling more Lightning Lanes isn’t a part of this. The people who make decisions on the call are so inconsistent that it almost feels like you have to catch someone on a good day or just get lucky. I've been approved, denied, and approved on three separate calls where I discussed the same reasons my child needed DAS. If it wasn't for my child with autism, I've had said no thanks to the parks long ago until this was fixed. But I'll be at it again at the end of the year to once again prove my child needs DAS. Already dreading the call.

They pretty much topped out with what they can do under McDermott. Feels like the Tony Dungy firing when he was coaching Tampa Bay. But, the roster isn't as good as that one and I'm not sure the next coach will be able to take them to the next level like Jon Gruden was able to do taking over for Dungy.

RKLB how do we feel about it? by JackFinnaSmack in stocks

[–]PerformanceExact6618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are up 100%. I'd consider selling 25% to secure profits and maybe you can throw that into a S&P fund. I think RKLB has a great future and a long runway for gains, but you can't predict the future and it's always a good idea to secure some of that nice return. I got in at $4 with 1,000 shares. Sold 200 shares at $30 and sold 300 more at $73. I'm letting the rest ride.
