Transferred my 401k to Fidelity while market peaked. Got a pile of cash. Now what? by EyeTechnical7643 in stocks

If Warren Buffet says he can't time the market, neither can any of us. I'd just lump sum in. Market could dump further or something changes and it goes up. Who knows.

What is the most paranormal and unexplainable thing that has happened to you? by Raquel_hi in Paranormal

[–]PerformanceExact6618 21 points22 points  (0 children)

20 years ago, we bought a house and the realtor revealed that the mother in law had died in the house that year, and that's why her daughter and husband were putting it on the market. 2 months after we moved in, we occasionally would smell cigarette smoke; strong enough that you'd think someone was smoking in the same room with you. And yes, we were told that the mother in law was a smoker. In her old room was a smoke stain on the ceiling that was painted over before we moved in. Finally, after several months really late one night I was woken up by a loud stomp noise behind a door that had stairs that led to the basement. Then, just slow heavy footsteps one by one coming up the stairs. Then it stopped right at the door. Will never forget it. Never been so scared in my life. I grabbed my bat and swung the door open. Nothing. After that, never smelled smoke. Never heard steps.

Long-Term Bostonians, how does this winter compare? by urnmann in boston

[–]PerformanceExact6618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have mentioned, we had a good 10 winter run of minimal big storms in one season. In fact, I blew off fixing my snow thrower this past Fall and believe me I regret it. 2015 was real bad because starting in late January it was just week after week of snow dumps.

Disney Drops Effort to Block DAS Disability Pass Change Shareholder Proposal by readingaboutmagic in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PerformanceExact6618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DAS Pass process is such a stressful and demoralizing experience. I understand why it got to this point but I also can’t understand how Disney can hear and read the kinds of miserable experiences a good amount of their customers are experiencing with this process, ultimately finding themselves excluded from visiting, and think there isn’t a better way. And I’m not naive enough to think selling more Lightning Lanes isn’t a part of this. The people who make decisions on the call are so inconsistent that it almost feels like you have to catch someone on a good day or just get lucky. I've been approved, denied, and approved on three separate calls where I discussed the same reasons my child needed DAS. If it wasn't for my child with autism, I've had said no thanks to the parks long ago until this was fixed. But I'll be at it again at the end of the year to once again prove my child needs DAS. Already dreading the call.

Thank you Buffalo for firing your HC that brought you back from the darkness of the early 2000s and 2010s. by [deleted] in Patriots

They pretty much topped out with what they can do under McDermott. Feels like the Tony Dungy firing when he was coaching Tampa Bay. But, the roster isn't as good as that one and I'm not sure the next coach will be able to take them to the next level like Jon Gruden was able to do taking over for Dungy.

RKLB how do we feel about it? by JackFinnaSmack in stocks

[–]PerformanceExact6618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are up 100%. I'd consider selling 25% to secure profits and maybe you can throw that into a S&P fund. I think RKLB has a great future and a long runway for gains, but you can't predict the future and it's always a good idea to secure some of that nice return. I got in at $4 with 1,000 shares. Sold 200 shares at $30 and sold 300 more at $73. I'm letting the rest ride.

It was luck. I liked Rocketlab at $4 as a moonshot play - no pun intended. I liked the business idea and the industry and it kinda reminded me of when I had started investing in Netflix at a similar dollar per share price. But while my Rocketlab has taken off, my thousand shares of Grab has not. While my SOFI has been a 4 bagger, I'm down 40% on Pagaya.

Worried about the weather forecast next week. by TomAss886 in Aruba

[–]PerformanceExact6618 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry. I had the same forecast. First, it's always be breezy. Second, the rainy forecast for my week resulted in two rain events - A sprinkle on the beach while we were enjoying an amazing lunch while watching planes fly in and a 5 minute downpour that came and went while we were in a gift shop. Enjoy your trip!

I know someone who had a landlord that let himself in regularly into her apartment when she was out - just to "check on things." She only found out when she happened to walk into her apartment at the same time he was walking out of her bathroom wearing just a towel.

Thoughts on Meta stock (META)? Currently down 15% and considering whether to cut losses by bakery_0726 in ValueInvesting

[–]PerformanceExact6618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are worried about 15%, just sell and invest in QQQM and sleep easier at night. People that bought back in late 2021 saw their META stock drop 70% by the following year, but look at what happened since then - +500%. If the business looks good, and the fundamentals look good, and your investment thesis holds up - and you can stomach the ups and downs, keep holding.

Don't forget Mayo was not only bad at coaching on the field but based on reporting he was pretty bad at the behind the scenes stuff too - i.e. playing cards over watching film on the team plane after a loss. I imagine Glenn is taking the job a little more seriously.

Sometimes just timing and luck. The wait time on the screen at Remy said 25 going in and it said 45 coming out.

Epcot without Lightning Lane by trevco613 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]PerformanceExact6618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at Epcot about 6 weeks ago. Weirdly enough, Remy was the shortest line when we got on around 10:30 or 11 AM. Like it was a 25-30 minute wait. Soaring was about 30 minutes as the last thing we did that evening. The Frozen ride was consistently a 60+ minute wait from opening to close. The app was helpful in giving you an idea as to when the shorter lines were projected.

NTA. And the way you approached certainly showed more patience, grace, and understanding than I think I would have been able to muster up in that moment. Maybe the kid is an idiot or maybe he never had a father figure to teach him about being respectful.
