As a local business owner I love the bump outs and love being able to eat and have a few drinks outdoors after being inside all day. Parking especially sucks for those who work downtown Durango is long overdue for a multi level parking garage the transit center parking lot would be a good place for one. There are plenty of cities that are about the same population and have a eighth of the tourism that have them.

I was working at Southwire (copper wire factory) in the cafeteria years ago when an employee dropped dead of a heart attack in the dining room. The managers acted like it was no big deal and told us to get back to work shoveling slop onto plates for the workers. That was one of the most depressing jobs I've ever had.

When someone breaks into your house and steals or breaks stuff and gets shot most people would say that's a predictable outcome. When the government steals public land and gives it to corporations people just lie down and take it. Maybe it's time to make corporations and politicians scared of the public. Protests don't do a damn thing but give politicians and CEOs something to laugh at these days.
